Beginning to plan for the upcoming Music City Chapter Elk Foundation Banquet. We had a nice event at The Barn at Sycamore Farms last year in Arrington, but have decided to host this year's at the Nashville Gun Club. As usual, we will have a nice catered meal with games, raffles and auctions (live and silent) Some of the highlights of this year will include. *Selling of chances to win a Hunt for two during the rut with a rifle in the Bob Marshall Wilderness area of Montana. Real Back Country Montana Hunting with a horse pack in and camping in wall tents. High success rate! We will have two of these hunts available. Will be $100/chance and there will be 400 tickets (200 each hunt). These will go on sale via QR code at our banquet. ***African trip with GP Footprint (Gerhard Pretorius). 7 day hunt including a night hunt for 4 hunters. Hunt includes all accomodations and a Baboon and Jackal per hunter (8 animals possible) with the opportunity to upgrade to any animal. You are responsible for airline travel to/from Polokwane, South Africa with pickup/drop off at airport by outfitter. This hunt will be live auctioned at our banquet. PBR trip for two to Las Vegas with tickets to all performances, 4 nights accomodations, travel to/from performances from hotel. This will be an early November trip. $50/chance (Only 100 will be sold) We will also have a hefty gun package to raffle off. Numerous AR-15s, Weatherby Vanguards as well as Springfield XDs, and the 2022 RMEF Gun of the Year , a Kimber 1911 in 10mm. I will update as we gather more and more info. If interested in joining us for the night, sign up for a membership or just volunteering to help the night of the banquet, all participants are welcome!

I've got a 450 Bushmaster I built on a Bushmaster lower. Also built one for my step-brother. Both of us love them. Both are 16". Alot more economical to shoot than a 458 (If you can find 458 ammo)

Bear Creek Arenal .350 Legend upper, a review.
19_A_CPT replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Long Guns
My only problem has been on the 450 Bushmasters their gas ports are way undersized. My 7.62x39, 308, and 6.5 Creedmoors all ran as intended. Ugly they are, work they do. Then again, im not quite the perfectionalist as Rob is. Cheaper is Cheaper. -
Anybody happen to have a gunsmith in the Franklin/Fairview area they would recommend?

223 Wylde
-
Guess I will go with a .223 Wylde Chambering in a 16" stainless barrel and run with it.
-
I would most likely suggest an AR10 in a 6.5 Creedmoor or 308. Otherwise 6.5 Grendel would be about the furthest reaching round out of the AR15 platform.
-
I have noticed that as well. Im totally not familiar with the Creedmoor and am fine with that. I personally have a 450 Bushmaster that i love but also know the recoil isnt as friendly to some people as other rounds.
-
I built one for my wife and its great... What else would be great is if she would actually shoot it. Built it last September or so... still not shot it lol
-
That is an option as well. Was thinking AR15 but may dip into the AR10 field as well.
-
Would like to know what the best would be.

Getting ready to build a black rifle for a non-profit to raffle off and was just wondering what the average Joe's go-to would be for an all around shooting/hunting round through the AR? Looking for pros/cons of 300 BLK, 350 Legend, 450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM.. Trying to stay away from the .223 chambering. Looking for recommendations on what caliber would raffle well out of the AR platform.

Our local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is offering a backcountry Elk Hunt for raffle if anybody is interested. 9 days, 8 night fully guided for 2 hunters. 1 bull each. All food and lodging provided. Dates are 14-21 or 22-29 September 2022 or 2023. Hunt will be drawn for on October 10, 2021. I can provide all details if needed. Much of it is on the ticket itself. One of our committee members has worked with this outfitter for the last couple of summers and last year was lucky enough to hunt with and harvest a nice 6x6. Please pm me if interested as i dont know how to get pictures to pop up on here. Sweetened the pot a little as well. Chances are still $100/per, however, the 1st draw gets the hunt, 2nd number drawn gets a semiauto pistol (Springfield Hellcat) and the 3rd drawn receives a quality long range scope package.

My moms farm hand has a High Point AR15 lol

Hunting with Johan Grobler at LinPoPoAfricaSafaris. I have a fully aluminum Cabelas double case courtesy of Goodwill (SCORE!) that I am planning to take. It has room for 4 locks. I bought my wife and I a set of neck pillows for her birthday and hopefully the plane will have a nice TV screen in the headrest.
-
Their recommendations say 30-06 or larger with 180 grain bullets so I assume that is not still used in LinPoPo province
-
The caliber is allowed, but it's on an AR platform and you cannot take semi or automatic weapons into that area. May be the entire country.
-
I am hesitant to take even my guns out of country with all the potential red tape involved with customs. May end up taking the bows and using the guide's guns
-
Im not planning to hunt any Dangerous Game and my wife said i cant kill a giraffe so I'm planning to take my 30-06 with some 180's. It has opened up the bigbore search (hence my H&H on 1917 listing find). Buddy is planning to take his bow so i may get to gig a few guineas. Was disheartened to learn I could not take my 450 Bushmaster AR As of right now, I am planning on an Impala, Warthog and Wildebeest. A zebra may not be out of the equation and if he throws #### at me, a damn baboon is going to meet his demise.
-
My wife is already sick and tired of watching that area's hunting videos and we only started talking about it on Sunday lol.
-
Thought I'd be slick and run the price up on a South African hunt at the Bowling Green, KY RMEF banquet and ended up they had two of them to sale, so i guess we are headed to South Africa next Summer for at least Blesbuck and Impala. Looking at rates, I will probably go ahead and try for a Warthog and possibly Wildebeest. Just not sure how accurate i will be with my spear. Fear of my loin cloth falling off may impair my accuracy. Has anybody on here been on one of these hunts? What to expect? Will be myself, my wife, best friend and his wife going.

ARMSLIST - For Sale/Trade: 300 h&h mag I suck at putting pictures on here. I will try and get more from him later today. Just ran across it while looking for a 375/458/416. I think its just a rebarreled P14 but if it has an alloy magazine plate instead of true steel, possibly real.
