  1. I love it when cheap ammo comes through for the win I will report back with better pictures after i officially acquire this piece.
  2. Honestly have never even heard of a Model 30. My old 1917 had it under the front scope mount.
  3. Ran across a rifle and caliber combination that ive always liked for sale. Initial inspection points toward a Eddystone or comparable 1917 rebarreled to a 280 Remington based on the wide floorplate and the bolt but possibly a Mauser 93 after looking at the end of the bolt, safety and the trigger.. Bottom line, ive not seen it in person so im unsure but would be ok with either. I shot a 1917 Eddystone 30-06 for about 15 years before it was stolen , but Always heard the 280 was one of the best of both worlds. Anybody have any other suggestions on what this gun is if its not what I am thinking it is. I have not held it in my hands yet, but from the pictures, i think thats what it is. The young man that has it really has no clue what it is other than a 280. Also anybody with experience shooting the 280 Remington and reloading or can recommend their favorite ammo combo in it? I am use to shooting a 30-06 and love the versatility of it, but after 20 years, I figured i might try a different breed. Will be primarily a White Tail gun with the occasional elk and mule deer in its crosshairs. Recommendations ?
  4. It ended up being a 5.56 upper. Not disappointed at all. Seems to be very well made
  5. Have an upper and BCG/CH on the way from KM Tactical in Missouri. Seems to be a standard upper and such, however, I am curious as to whether or not it is a 5.56 or a .223 barrel because as its described it looks as it may be either/or. It does have a note that it would be a Wylde chambering depending on stock availability of those barrels. I guess i could be that guy that asks the warehouse but hate to bother them. It did ship out today so im excited to get it in and start shooting. What would your best guesses be on if its a .223 or 5.56 based on the listing? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/870313215 im not one to dive too deep into the 5.56/223 differences, but curiosity has already killed one cat. This will be going on one of the Dont Tread on Snek Lowers that i recently bought on TGO.
  6. I hope they do follow through with the purchase and roll out a Ira Hayes edition and Code Talkers edition guns. I think they would sell well for a limited time.

  8. Thanks for the heads up on this Handsome Rob and Mike_F. Was an idea, but i may decide to pass on the idea of sleeping in a comfortable bed before heading out to stalk bullies at first light.
  9. I will be out there mid October on an either sex muzzleloader hunt in unit 34. First time going after them
  10. I have a cousin that lives out that way and yes looking at a OTC tag next year. I'm New Mexico bound this season
  11. Does anybody have any experience with the lower range hunt areas near Denver? I have a first cousin that lives in Evergreen and i was just wondering if anybody had hunted that area. She says there's alot of elk, but long trip/mucho dinero on a whim.
  12. https://gunshowtrader.com/gun-shows/dickson-gun-knife-show/ Hear ye, Hear ye! Gunshow this weekend right down 40 for all you Nashvillians. 27-28 June Rain or Shine
  13. Oh I definitely dont intend to shoot it much and for sure no high brass but i might shoot at a dove or two on opening day just for the thrill. Say you did shoot light load 2-3/4s or the 2-1/2s? I saw that RST sells correct length shells. I havent checked the chambers other than sliding a 2-3/4" down in it to confirm it was a 12.
  14. Looking for 5-10 rounds of 30 Rimfire to shoot the pepperbox and to have some for $#!+$ and giggles. I know it might be easier to ask for a unicorn, but if you have some, let me know. Closer to Nashville the better.
  15. Recently acquired a JJ Weston made by Henri Piper double barrel. Trying to determine if its got Damascus or Steel barrels. The top of the barrel says " Fine Twist Belgium" and the barrels lock up nicely. Has dual hammers and triggers. Looks to be in great shape with good lockup Anybody have information on these? As in an accurate year determination. Gunsmiths in the Nashville area familair with them?
  16. This actually ended up getting a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40. Still have yet to fire it. It will make its appearance for TN Deer this year if not for CO Elk sooner.
  17. Looking at a vintage double hammered, double triggered, double barrel JJ Weston (Belgium made) with Damascus barrels. Assuming the gunsmith gives the green light on safety, where's a source for period safe 2-1/2" shells? Not planning to shoot much, but I can't resist just once or twice

  19. I have always thought the hype about Leupold and other high end scopes was blown out of proportion. I finally broke down and bought a vintage Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 after seeing everybody's recommendation for a scope on the model 70 i bought a few months back and wow. What have I been shooting with all these years? Crystal clear and i love the eye relief.
  20. Ran across a Bausch and Lomb 4-12x40 Balvar to sit atop it. 2 months and I’ve still not sent the first round down the pipe.
  21. Trying to pinpoint the scope I want to put on top of the blued tube. Have found a Bausch and Lomb 2.5-10x40 in Gloss. I have a 4-12x40 Simmons 8Point and am Tossing around the idea of just putting a Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40 on it, but not sure they come in gloss? Anybody got insight or recommendations? The rifle already has a one piece Leupold mount . Winchester M70 30-06 that will be used for deer under 200 yards but will be going to Colorado for elk a few times ....
  22. The gray is just a pad on the cheekrest. Self adhered, sort of like weatherstripping material. Guy knew his pistols. He Didn’t even know it was a pre-64 until I started questioning the bolt and looked up the serial
