If you're just thinking about accessories, then I'm not sure how many of these places would be helpful. I generally buy things like that online. If you're just wanting gun shops that are close to JC, then these come to mind. There are some others that I've never been to, but I won't comment on them. Elizabethton - Tri-Cities Gun Depot and H&S Jonesborough - Byrds Bristol - Volunteer Kingsport - Gunslingers and Gun Rack Blountville - Gun Runners JC - Mahoney's, Monte's Opinions on these places will vary, but I'd visit any of them again. In particular, it seems that a lot of people don't like Monte. He can come across as a loudmouthed, know it all, Yankee. He doesn't carry much in that tiny shop either. But, if you can get along with him and know what you want, I've found him to be very helpful. As was mentioned before, I would suggest you try the Gun Depot first since they support the forum.

Yup, and they are fighting anything that would put them in the position of a pipe-only provider tooth and nail. The pipe isn't where they want to make the money, the content is - even when they have no right to the content.

My understanding, which may or may not be accurate, is - Certain localities - like Abingdon - had banned guns on their portion of the trail. These bans may not have ever actually been valid though, due to state preemption laws. This blog post seems to support this understanding - VA-ALERT: VCDL Update 1/11/09 - The Sentinel

Non-carrying wife in the same car?
RinTN replied to busted knuckles's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
A situation like there was one of the reasons I encouraged my wife to get her permit. Now we don't have to worry about what someone could be charged with under these circumstances. -
Tennessee Senate Overrides Restaurant Carry Veto
RinTN replied to FlyboyLDB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Are you sure about that one? I went by Jane's Lunch Box specifically to check on this a while back. Though she had spoken negatively about the "Guns in Bars" legislation, at that time it was not posted. Now, I'm not actually a customer and haven't been back since, so things could easily have changed. -
Had I known this a couple of days ago I would have made a different dining decision. I'll remember this for the next time I'm in Knoxville though!

In the legal text where it says: (2) In addition to the punishment authorized by subdivision (1)... is subdivision (1) a reference to: (1) A violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor

Any idea where the paper got the part about two days in jail from? I don't see anything like that in the text of the bill.

UT bans gun ownership of all student athletes.
RinTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm not sure that's exactly accurate. All entities under the UT system and the TBR fall under the Tennessee Higher Eduction Commission and are State of Tennessee institutions. The board responsible for overseeing UT system schools falls under the Executive Branch of Tennessee's government and as such is appointed by the governor. -
Sounds good to me - opens up the fine dining options a bit. :-)

state appealing "guns in resturants" decision
RinTN replied to bubbadavis's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Great question, and I wish I knew the answer. The only thing I've heard is that an appeal could take a long time to get the job done. Of course, the legislature can keep working on other solutions while the appeal is going through. So, hopefully one of the two avenues will lead to the desired destination. -
Reps/Senators to contact about fixing resturant bill
RinTN replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
While I assume that these all are true, I wouldn't say that any are a *good* reason. The only way we'll know if an appeal is a good thing is to have one. But, none of these puts us in any worse position if the appeal fails. -
Reps/Senators to contact about fixing resturant bill
RinTN replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree on both parts. I've not heard a single good reason for the lack of an appeal. Sure, there's no way to know if it would work or not. But, the same is true for new legislation. -
Sorry, that was a typo. What you said was my exact point. Which is one of the reasons that an appeal may be better than a new law.
-
While that may "fix" the current "problem", do you really think that those opposing RTC will simply attack the law on other grounds? Do you really believe it's the case that there wasn't a personal bias at play? If so, then I'll simply have to disagree.
-
Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not convinced that an appeal is a bad idea. If there's a new law in January, doesn't it run the same risk as the old did with another suit and some judge shopping? I really don't want to have to watch a suit against the new law end up in her court again next year. It would seem that the worst thing that could happen if there was an appeal would be that the original decision gets upheld - which really doesn't change things for us. Then we'd still have the legislative mechanism to try. But, getting Bonnyman's opinion overturned would save us from the challenges of getting a new law passed - more biased press, another veto, coming up short on votes, or the like.

I've got both Hornady CD and Remington Golden Saber.

I've gone through two different classes and both of them scored like this.

Odd to hear the guy fighting for our rights to be referred to as "the culprit".
-
That's probably a good legal question and I had wondered about it myself. Of course, even if it's not, there's the very real question of whether or not it's worth the risk of ending up dealing with officers/prosecutors who might not really know either.
-
It's possible that I don't understand the situation correctly, BUT - I'm under the impression that we don't really know yet how vague or specific the ruling is because it's not actually been filed yet. If my understanding is correct though, it may make sense that an appeal hasn't been filed yet.
-
While this can be true, it really depends - time of day, day of week, weather, and such make a huge difference. Earlier times on weekdays tend to be pretty good, while right after work usually means there are quite a few people, then as dark approaches it thins out again. Weekends are usually pretty busy for most of the day.

That's the way I think it needs to be - your vehicle as an extension of your "castle".

Our experience on HCP wait time (without call)
RinTN replied to RinTN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don't know if it helps for the "average" caller, but it can in some cases. There have been multiple members who've had to deal with lost applications - myself included. In those cases, calling helped determine that there was a problem and get it corrected. -
I thought that I would share this as an FYI on the chance that anyone is wondering about how long the HCP processing seems to be taking. My wife submitted her application on 8/20 and was printed later that week. Her HCP arrived in the mail today, which means it took a little under six weeks for processing without calling. I'm pretty sure that faster than mine arrived even with calling!
