  2. I got a Tactical Solutions M4 dedicated upper. It has a 16" 1:16 twist barrel and comes with 1 Black Dog magazine. It's more expensive ($530 - on sale @ BDM for $499) than a conversion kit, but not dealing with a gas tube or o-rings and incorrect twist rate is great. I consistantly shoot <1/2" groups @ 25 yards ironsighted w/ bulk ammo. Black Dog Machine LLC - High Capacity Magazines for AR15.22 & Olympic M261 kits - AR15 Uppers
  3. Sorry. I didn't read the 1st post all the way through. 5 Must have guns: 1.) Glock 19 - 9mm 2.) Mossberg 535 Waterfowl 12g 3.) S&W M19 - .357 4.) S&W M&P15A w/ Trijicon ACOG and TLR-1 light - 5.65x45mm 5.) Mosin Nagant 1891/30 - 7.62x54R
  4. I wouldn't waste my money on the Keltec 2000. Just personal preference. Now the Keltec SU-16A, thats what I'd be checking out. http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/su16a.htm
  5. The Box O' Truth #14 - Rifles, Shotguns, and Walls - Page 4
  6. S&W M&P40c - weak grip stippling. like trying to shoot with a bar of soap. Springfield XD-9 - grip was funky and trigger left alot to be desired. It was spongy and loose. Ruger mini 6.8 - bought it and traded it before I ever shot it. poor reviews and no magazines available.
  7. Lone Wolf Distributors - Product Detail $349 Rock River Arms: 9mm CAR Upper Half $500 So that's a LWD complete lower and a Rock River Complete A3 upper. Looking @ $849 before tax, shipping, transfer and TICS.
  8. When it was just me in my condo I had a G17, Mossberg 508A, G32 (CCW) and a Kimber 1911 hid in the cavities of a fiberglass garden tub. But when I got married my wife said she would buy me a rifle for Christmas if I got a safe. Well I got a safe and 4 years later I need a bigger one. Get A Bigger Safe. As a matter of fact get the biggest one you can afford now, cause it will get crowded very quickly.
  9. The Box O' Truth #1 - The Original Box O' Truth - Page 1 The whole site is worth checking out.
  10. My wife liked my Yugo M70AB2 underfolder (AK-47) and found it manageable to shoot. If I would have kept it I would have probanly put a Larue Irondot or Micro Aimpoint to assist in aiming in low light. Chicks dig AK's. Now she likes my AR15 w/ TacSol .22lr upper. I wouldnt let her use it for HD, but she has her own (revolver) S&W 327NG in .357MAG. If she needs the Mossberg she knows how to get to it.
  11. That is a fairly easy fix if you already have the tools. A bench vise, 2 wood blocks or an upper vise, and an armorers wrench. (I have the $25 DPMS one) If you don't mind parting with it for a while you might consider sending it back to the manufacturer to fix. Call them and see what they can do. ...or if you have a detatchable carry handle handy put it on and put the rifle on a table upside down and see if it is in fact a crooked front sight base. Sorry I didn't give you the answer you were looking for. I've been to only 1 gunshop in Memphis and that's Classic Arms off Germantown Pkwy. ....
  12. what do you need tweaked? You might be able to do it yourself or get a board member to walk you through it (or do it for you).
  13. SS109 will penetrate a 1/4" steel plate @ well past 100 yards. I shot 60+ rounds out of my Mosin in I setting (148gr though) and felt no more sore than after I do 50 or so push-ups weeks apart. Heck, my 9 y/o even took a couple of shots from it...Once...(no desire since) I find alot of folks who feel it has too much recoil usually are shooting from the bench. No rifle I own feels better to shoot than my Mosin. It might just be the steel wool buffed helmsman spar urethane finish I redid my stock with.
  14. I take it that you've never shot one. My wife thinks I'm going a little crazy because I pull it out the safe almost daily since I bought it. I will admit, I love shooting my Mosin. It is a great conversation starter at the range. I think I even like it over my AR15's. ...And I'll love it even more when I figure out how to mount an IR laser to it for some night shoots.
  15. The $89 M1891/30 Russian Hex reciever I got from AIM surplus is great. It was a safe bet (from what I hear). The wartime made ones 194?-ish ones are poorly made.
  16. I dryfire mine but I use a spent case in the chamber. I know its impossible unless you shot it first....but I'm just sayin'. ...Anyway. Is your firing pin flush with the end of the bolt rear, where the scribe mark and firing pin threads line up? the only way I'd forsee any problems in bolt cycling is high spring tension, or if the cam is burred or the trigger doesn't reset forward enough where it binds under the bolt "carrier". Is it just hard to open period (rotate the bolt upwards), or to pull it back after opening. It may be something simple like lube or technique. I read somewhere that using your left hand with the palm on the reciever and the fingers over the top of the bolt gets it done with almost no effort. That's apparently how the Soviet soldiers did it b/c the MN was mainly used as a trench rifle under supported positions....
  17. There should be a ball and spring in there preventing travel. When you slide it either way do you feel or hear the "click"? if not there are rebuild kits on ebay and Numrich. I finally ordered one off ebay after refusing to buy 1 kit for $5 when you can get 6 sets for $11 from Numrich. here's the one I ordered. no need for a steel one unless you have a 590.Mossberg 500 Shotgun Safety Button Parts Repair Kit Set - eBay (item 250509713718 end time Nov-05-09 06:55:59 PST)
  18. I have a home parkerizing setup. $50 pawn shop 5 gallon air compressor $99 chinese blasting cabinet off ebay (caulk sides while assembling (not in instructions:mad:) $50 Maganeese parking and post treatment solution from Lauer Custom $50 stainless 18x6x6 stainless tank (not needed for most jobs) $10 stainless pot set from Walmart $15 Aluminum Oxide blasting media from Tractor supply $20 Candy thermometer, tongs, milsurp rubber gloves, brake cleaner, latex gloves, gallon koolaid pitcher $10 hotplate. (having a MAAP torch helps getting solution up to 180* faster) foam earplugs work well for barrel plugs. I am also happy with my results. I've done barrels, a revolver, misc AR parts, bolts for outdoor fixtures etc. The most work is in the blasting. I boil most small parts first in distilled water (and rinse in distilled water) The only problem is not being to park stainless steel and alloy recievers. I found Brownells Maganeese Parkerizing grey Alumahyde II dosen't match perfectly, but it is close. tag for pics.
  19. 1. 20" NM AR-15 RRA or Armalite 2. Ed Brown, Les Baer or Wilson Combat Custom 1911 3. CDD Tavor 4. Glock 20 5. and one of these.
  20. My Kimber Custom II. I was bored one day and brought it in to see what I can trade it in for mainly b/c I couldn't find a comfortable IWB holster for it. (they all sat high)
  21. My wife loved her Bersa 380. I hated it and demanded she moved up a caliber. She now has a 7 shot S&W 327 Night Guard in .357MAG. She likes it alot. (at least that's what she tells me.)
  22. I believe Stoeger is part of Benelli Corporation, along with Uberti and Franchi. Stoeger bought the manufacturing rights when Berretta dropped the 8000 series a couple of years ago. ...but anyway... The Cougar in 9mm is also a nice choice for CCW. The one my boy had a few years ago was 100x better than the Berretta PX4 he traded it for. (too stubby and had a hell of a muzzle flip.)
