  1. Mine was $30.:DI've had it a while, however. It's an arsenal rebuild 1903 with a very early serial number.
  2. I'm not an LEO fan, but I saw nothing wrong with that, except he was following too closely behind her.
  3. I love the HD!!! If it's original, it's nice!!! I couldn't decide between the smooth grips like you have pictured, or ones with a bit of bark showing. I believe I'll go with the smooth ones next time.
  4. There's one in Rivergate, just north of Nashville. If they have a good price on 223 ammo, they certainly make up for it on other calibers.
  5. I put an 4x M8 Leupold on mine. If you shop around, you can find one for near $100, if you don't mind a few scratches. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gear-classifieds/53465-scopes-scopes-scopes.html I've got a nice 1-4x Redfield I'd ship you for $100.
  6. Cool! I hope we can expect a full report once you take delivery on it.
  7. Wow! I expected they'd all be gone already. Those things are delicious! I've always had luck finding them in a wodded area that has been burned off. I guess there's some nutrient in the ashes that promote them.
  8. These were made of elk antler by Patrick Grashorn of Colorado. Pictures do not do them justice. The fit, feel, and look great! My uncle made the pen pictured with it from a deer antler I'd harvested.
  9. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have fine guns. There will be those that argue with me, but Tru Oil is hard to beat. If it's too shinely for you, rub it with 0000 steel wool or pumice dust after it has cured.
  10. I've always read that you should toss the A-Merc brass. I do not have any first hand experience with it however.
  11. This gentleman here is hereby an official Tennessean now!!!! If only he'd start making knives again, he'd be durn near perfect.
  12. You'll love this! The TVA has, as far as I know, the lowest electric rates in the entire nation. I have a 2000sf house, and the electric bill averages around $200 per month. No gas or other methods of heating.
  13. Does it have an exposed hammer or not? If it does, It is called a Colt Junior and was made by Astra. If it doesn't have an exposed hammer, it is a Vest Pocket actually made by Colt. Either way, you have a nice little pistol. http://stevespages.com/pdf/colt_automatic_caliber_25.pdf http://stevespages.com/pdf/colt_25_hammerless.pdf One of these will be the correct manual. They are very easy to take apart and reassemble.
  14. There are models like the 649 and 60 which can either be had in 38 SPL or 357 Magnum. You won;t be able to load a 357 mag into the 38 special and close the chamber. The 357 magnum was a result of some gun nuts who kept uping the performance level of the 38 special in certain strong revolvers. It wouldn't be safe to produce these commercially, as they would surely end up in a weaker gun that couldn't withstand the higher pressures. That's when the 357 Magnum was born. It's the same bullet, and same case, except the 357 case is about 1/8" longer to preclude someone from chambering it into the wrong gun. You can, however, safely shoot 38 specials in your 357 magnum. In pretty much the same fashion, the 44 Special and some ambitious handloaders gave birth to the legendary 44 Magnum. Ergo, you can also shoot 44 Specials in your 44 Magnum. As for care of the wood grips, they really don't require much care, but you can clean them in the same manner you'd clean furniture, or any other wood object. If you're really anal about it, you can get a can of Renaissance wax and wax them. Keep oil off them. Heck, put up some pics of them! I like Smith and Colt revolvers. I know several others here who do as well.
  15. :rofl:I see what you did there!!!
  16. We Tennesseans are pretty good people, but sometimes don't warm up too fast to 'out of towners". There is a couple from Texas who plan to build on the farm that adjoins my property in the back. The first thing they wanted to know was if I'd give them a right of way to run a power line through my property from front to back. Not a good way to hit things off. I have another import neighbor who wants to run a water line through my yard. I try to be a nice guy, but I didn't sell this property to these folks. These are things you should check into before purchasing property. Also, some areas here flood! After a heavy rain would be a great time to ride around and look for property to buy.
  17. I imagine it is about as safe as most any other model. I'm just hard headed I suppose.
  18. I'm with the OP here. The Sig p238 is a very attractive, well made pistol, but I am not fond of the idea of a loaded pistol in my pocket with the hammer cocked. I imagine it is just as safe as most other pocket pistols, but I just don't like the thought of it.
  19. You should know about humidity! In Arizona, you can walk all day in 110 degree weather and still have on a dry shirt. When it's 80 degrees here, you'll think you are in hell. Clothes will be wet like you just jumped in the river. Also, you'll learn about allergies. If you can cope with these two things, you'll likely love it here.
