  1. +1 use or lose it applies to the immune system.
  2. I recently discovered these and am quite interested in them. Anyone have any firsthand experience with them?
  3. I have two words, You & Tube.
  4. Is Hooters really the best option you got for wings in Mufreesboro? Memphis looks better every day...
  5. I'm surprised I haven't seen any Pastafarians come out of the woodwork in this thread.
  6. After spending a week in San Fra, I bet David can relate...
  7. You absolutely do have that right. I don't think anyone was denying you have that right. but with that right, comes a responsibility to peaceably make anyone entering your home aware that you do not want them carrying a weapon before you draw down on them.
  8. I hear that's what they told Liberace too.
  9. *nevermind* Uncalled for.
  10. " Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. " (Matthew 7:6, NKJV) "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes." (Proverbs 26:4-5, NKJV)
  11. You know, I am really starting to think that a "Faith and Spirituality" subforum might be a pretty good idea.
  12. Exactly. Conflict exists between science and the Church only if we wish them to. History is replete with great men of science who were also great men of faith.
  13. I guess I need to go buy some spare parts, Herp-Derp!
  14. Don't forget your drunk cats and their harbals.
  15. I love science and have a fairly analytical mind. That being said, I understand that science is limited to the "how"s of the world, it can never explain the "why"s. If you want to know the answer to "why", that answer is found in the seeking of God. As far as the validity of Intelligent Design, or Creationist theories (and they are different things), it is hard for the scientific community to honestly say they are bunk when to even bring up those questions or seek to study the science of them gets you thrown out of Academia. The Ben Stein documentary "Expelled" shows what happens to those who ask those questions. Much like global warming or "climate change" as it is now called, if you don't tow the party line you get tossed out on your ear and blackballed by the greater academic community.
  16. It's all in the demeanor. If a worker was in my home and his/her weapon became visible I would draw it to his/her attention. I would expect him/her to be apologetic and seek my approval at that point to remain armed in my home. I would give it, probably end up talking about carrying and guns in general at that point. Prolly also mention TGO to him/her. It is all a courtesy thing. If the worker was standoffish about it, then the worker can depart post haste, but that has less to do with the gun and more to do with general attitude and customer service.
  17. Does it count as an LEO encounter if I was armed when I met up with KB4NS whilst he was on duty?
  18. <obligatory joke about the entire city being an outdoor shooting range> There, I did it for them.
  19. I read about that film, I want no part of it.
  20. This sounds really familiar, except it took my parents into the 3rd grade before they told the school to piss off and took me off Ritalin. My other big problem with medicating kids that young is you are essentially telling them; "The way you feel and act isn't normal. Take this drug and it will make you feel normal." What happens when they are a teenager and nobody feels normal? They have already been trained to take a pill, smoke something or put something up the nose to change the way they feel.
  21. Most of the time, if I am wearing pants, I am wearing my gun. There is one exception. After I scratched one of the chairs the day we got our new dining room set, the wife decreed that there will be no wearing of guns at the dinner table. My gun usually sits on the back of the couch or on the dining room table while we are eating now.
  22. I know a lot of folks here don't care for the obvious liberal bias of the NYT, but sometimes they actually do some good work. As someone who spent a number of years being heavily medicated with ADHD drugs this is a subject that hits very close to home for me. My parents were pressured by the schools to have me medicated because I was a "difficult" child to control. In other words, I was a 5 year old boy who wanted to be a 5 year old boy and play. There are other options besides medication, options that should be exhausted before giving a child a pill that will fundamentally alter the way his/her brain functions.
