  1. Thanks to Phil at Goodlettsville Gun Shop I am the proud owner of a 3rd gen Glock 19. Now I just need a .22 conversion and I'll be all Glocked up.
  2. Tell us more. I was looking at one the other day and it felt pretty nice.
  3. Slightly OT, but what's the recoil of a PF-9 comparable to? I've shot a PM9, LCP, and 442. Worse than any of those or about equal?
  4. What's the SRT like? I'm thinking about a 220, and I can't decide between a DA/SA w/ SRT or a SAO.
  5. I'm always open. I'm also eyeballing a P220 of some sort. I figure every red blooded American should have a .45, right?
  6. Yes, and I'm hoping its mine. I might even call tomorrow to put a hold on it with my debit card.
  7. The problem with the .22 conversion is that I can't find it except on Gunbroker at inflated prices. But no, I have no issue with doing the conversion at the range. While that CZ and Ruger of yours are a pain in the butt to take apart, a Glock is stupid easy. I bet I could install a new barrel in under a minute. But yes, I'm leaning towards the two pistols is better than one. I don't shoot reloads so I haven't really bumped against the leading issue yet.
  8. If she can shoot it, why not.
  9. My gen 2 Glock 23 has turned out to be a real winner so I want a 9mm version around as well. Ammo is cheaper and asian G19 mags are about 6 bucks at CDNN right now. My question: Do you think it's worth it to get another Glock entirely, or would a 9mm conversion barrel be sufficient? Here are my qualms about getting a new Glock. I previously did have a G19 gen 3. I could not shoot it well on my first trip out and so I sold it. I blamed the funky thumb indentations and finger grooves. However, I did not really spend the time I've spent with my Gen 2 Glock, which I remember disliking the first time I held too. Do you think I'd get get used to the new grip? I held a Gen 4 G19 at Guns and Leather yesterday, and it felt alright. Not awesome, just alright. What about 9mm conversion barrels? Are they generally as reliable as Glock stock? They're certainly priced right. I could get one of these, a few G19 mags, and a PF-9 besides for well under the price of a new G19.
  10. I like it. Tried and true design with great ergos. The ones I've shot were extremely accurate with great triggers. Well, the SA is great. The DA is good for a DA. Standard configuration is a decocker, but you can get SAO with safety if that's your style. Only cons are that it weighs a lot and it has an 8 round capacity. Of course, some may not see those as cons.
  11. I believe the Phantom is a full sized pistol, versus the P01 which is compact.

    XD trade

I don't know where you buy your ammo, but I see .40 all day long at about 14 for a box of 50. When I see .45, which isn't often, it's priced at around 24 for a box of 50. If you're lucky, you might see it for 17, but that isn't often.
  13. If an out of stater is posted at fort Campbell, it's ok to sell to them like they were a local resident right?
  14. For one, 9mm is a lot cheaper and easier to find.
  15. Don't let the DB380 be your litmus test of the .380. Try a LCP and you'll be pleased.
  16. Second. False modesty doesn't suit you, graycrait. Nice piece.
  17. Rugers are great. If you're looking for a good alternative, though, the Beretta Neos gets my pick. It's cheap, mags are cheap, it's dead solid reliable and it's much easier to take down and put back together than a Ruger. Another option is a .22 revolver, especially if you're planning on using the .38 for some time to come. Taurus Tracker might fit the bill nicely.
  18. Not quite sure I get this show. Why is it on History channel again? Why do they have professional shooters shooting side by side with amateur hour rookies? Are they supposed to make up the points when they're trying to throw axes or crap like that? I'm sorry, HISTORICAL axes. Way too much slow mo. I get it, you have high speed cameras, and they used to be expensive as balls. Now you have it on every show. I don't need to see a target being hit by a bullet in slow mo 6 or 7 times in succession. It's the same damn target. I'm also not a fan of the "history" interspersed throughout the episode. Really? The 1903 was a WWI rifle? And you've got to repeat that 5 or 6 times in 1 episode? What else you gonna tell me, "History" channel, that I can't look up on Wikipedia or even find out from the local gun shop? And, what kind of moron can't hit a target from 100 yards away with a CENTERFIRE rifle. FROM A REST!!!! He took over 30 shots and this idiot from the red team couldn't hit what looked to be a 10 inch or so target? With a SPRINGFIELD? And he wants to talk about all the trouble he had zeroing it the day before? And what kind of dinky challenge was this anyways? Slog through 10 FEET!! of obstacle course and then shoot 100 yards with a rifle from a rest. With a spotter no less. So tough! Finally, the process where they vote each other out is painfully boring and stupid. Ooooh, they all take one shot from a Beretta. From 5 yards away. And miss dead center. Good shot, top shot.
  19. That's her. She also has a Sig Trailside, I believe. I've already given my 2 cents, but I may as well give it again. Stones River is alright in my book. When I shoot at other ranges, I feel compelled to keep tabs on other shooters to make sure they're not doing something retarded and dangerous right next to me. For instance, people shooting as fast as they can at a man sized target 10 yards away with a hand gun...and missing every shot. I watch others less at Stones River. My only problem with it is that it's not terribly close to me and they shut down early during the winter. Oh, and they don't allow silhouette targets of any kind.
  20. Thanks for the replies fellows. Does the Stellar print less? Or is it more convenient and secure?
  21. I think my point was that .380 is a specialized round for something easily concealable. If you want a pistol with all the doodads, there are many more out there with the same features but are cheaper to shoot. Like the P22. Or almost anything in 9mm.
  22. I bought a used Walther PPS a couple of weeks ago from Guns and Leather. It worked well my first time out to the range but the second time I took it out to shoot the trigger would not reset after the slide was dropped on a full mag. Not very good to say the least. G&L took it back so their gunsmith could take a look. When I went to check on it today, they had sent it back to Smith and Wesson, where it could languish for 3-5 weeks. I think anybody would be unhappy to purchase a gun and then not be able to use it for so long. Instead of saying tough titty, as I might expect of a place like Bud's, they offered to let me basically return the gun for store credit. So I did and I ended up paying the difference for a PM9. Guns and Leather took care of me (specifically Robert), and I wanted to thank them and let everybody else know that there's a real reason to shop at a local brick and mortar shop. They stand behind their sale. Can't beat that. Anybody with a PM9 want to suggest a good pocket holster? I already know to load the pistol by dropping the slide and not by racking the slide. Any other little tricks?
  23. If you get a .380, why not a LCP? I found the LCP I owned to be very accurate and fun to shoot with the additional bonus of being extremely lightweight and thin. The trigger is really quite good, on par with a Smith J-frame IMHO. I just didn't want to spring for the ammo. If you're looking for a fun gun to shoot, get the P22 or something in 9mm. A P99 or PPS if you want to stick with a Walther. These will be much easier and cheaper to feed with equal or superior thrills to the PK380.

    XD40 or XD9?

Variety is the spice of life. I'd go with the .40. It makes a louder bang and is more fun to shoot, IMHO.
