Leather Lined Kydex Holster
Worriedman replied to jtluttrell's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have used the Silent Thunder IWB for the last two years as my daily carry rig for my Officers Model. Wear is negligible, and it functions very well. I like being able to adjust the tension. I have been very pleased with it. -
They are guilty of Official Oppression, as they are not the "Legislators" responsible for the actual passage of the issue. TCA 39-16-403. Official oppression. — (a) A public servant acting under color of office or employment commits an offense who: (1) Intentionally subjects another to mistreatment or to arrest, detention, stop, frisk, halt, search, seizure, dispossession, assessment or lien when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful; or (2) Intentionally denies or impedes another in the exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege, power or immunity, when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful. ( For purposes of this section, a public servant acts under color of office or employment if the public servant acts, or purports to act, in an official capacity or takes advantage of the actual or purported capacity. © An offense under this section is a Class E felony. (d) Charges for official oppression may be brought only by indictment, presentment or criminal information; provided, that nothing in this section shall deny a person from pursuing other criminal charges by affidavit of complaint. [Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 1; 1990, ch. 980, § 11. they can write all the letters they want to as private citizens, but when the act under "color" of an official position to affect the outcome of a political issue that they are not directly responsible to legislate, they are violating the law.

So say they start "patting" people down as they enter a Posted property, what do they do with the non-permit holder that is found to be carrying? Does anyone really expect the bars/restaurants to do this. What happens if they feel a knife with a blade of over 4", do their staff, (who can carry sans permits, background checks etc. by the way). Do they have legal authority to detain an offender or do they simply ask the perp to leave? Whole 'nuther can of worms. -
How important is the 2A to your vote?
Worriedman replied to JAB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty much I think most here are of a mind that strong support of the 2nd Amendment is a precursor for consideration of backing. If a candidate does not exhibit that, I am not interested. But, like a Harry Reed or a John Tanner, they can have a A+ NRA rating and I have to look at other issues as well. Just because they espouse upholding the 2nd, does not mean they can throw the rest of the Constitution away, and me work and vote for them. Some will use a profession of staunch 2nd Amendment beliefs as a blanket to pull over the eyes of the electorate. In today's world, the 2nd is a limiting factor, but not the only one. -

Anyone have experience flying Southwest with a gun?
Worriedman replied to DavidD's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The process HAS changed in the last year, normally in the past, the gate agent would required the locked case to be opened at the counter. The last few times I have carried my weapon, (including yesterday from Nashville to Austin, TX via Southwest) the agent simply asked if it was packaged correctly, did not require me to prove that. I always carry the same way, handgun unloaded, magazine removed and contained in a holder to preclude ammo escape, extra mag carried the same way, with a hard plastic ammo box for spares, all in one locked case, inside my two suiter which is locked as well. Once going out of Memphis, the Airport Adminstrator, who bore a real resemblance to Venus Williams, required me to shuck the rounds out of the magazine. She was going to make me leave the loose rounds, saying I could not have "bullets sloshing around", the nice Northwest gate agent gave me a spare plastic Zip-Loc, and I went on my way. This was the only time I ever had any noise out of a TN airport. I fly pretty much bi-weekly, have been through a lot of airports. Phoenix is the easiest, Detroit, you had best get there an hour early. I always carry a printed copy of the TSA regs on me. Be surpised how many of their employees have not got a clue. The card that they have you sign is supposed to go in your bag, but not in the locked case, unless it is a long gun, then it does go in the locked case. -

Supposition issue. Say you had a hand gun in checked baggage, and your connecting flight out of O'Hare was canceled, you had to spend the night, which would mean taking possession of your luggage. Next day checking back through to get to your final destination, would you be in a world of ****? I do not fly through Chicago, for that very reason. I have heard it said that could be a nightmare. -
Who is gonna get your vote for govenor?
Worriedman replied to 94user's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Ramsey is staunch in support of the 2nd Amendment, he carried, as a freshman Senator, the original Handgun Carry Bill. He also is in favor of a "Vermont" style permitting situation, allowing us to retain a permit for reciprocation with other States, but no requiring one for carry here in TN. He is a small business man, still runs his surveying and Real Estate business, that he started out of the back of his pickup. Still makes payroll and Workers Comp. payments. He did not start out with a silver spoon in his mouth. Previous poster talks about spending graduating during his time in the Legislature, had it not been for him this year, our taxes would have shot up, he has been doing his best to hold the line with a Spendocrat Governor. We basically just got a split on the Dem/Rep ratio in the Senate and House, not like he was responsible for what went out single handedly. He has been the friend of gun owners for the last several years that I have been really involved with the Legislature and working on the Bills that effect us, and checking his record, has always been such. You did not see him take a $2,500.00 donation from the NRA, then veto the Restaurant Bill two times. Check his gun rights votes, they are all in the correct column. -

I think we need to file a "Friend of the Court" brief. In establishments that post, I would suggest they install metal detectors, if they ban licensed carry, who is going to counteract the illegal guns inside, if their servers are so scared of handguns, shouldn't we help them be less fearful? -

Here is the thread related from last year. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/25059-tn-appeals-court-liability-issue.html -
Last year in Jackson, there was a case returned from the Court of Appeals to the original venue relative to a lady who was kidnapped and had her vehicle stolen in the Old Hickory Mall Parking lot. Basic facts were she sued the Mall for lack of security. The lower court held the Mall not responsible, but the Appellate court disagreed. How do I find out the final dispensation of that case? Nothing was ever printed in the paper, and I would assume that the case was settled to keep from garnering extra publicity. The Mall is posted. In the paper today is an article about an armed robbery occurring in their parking lot just after noon yesterday. I wonder if that earlier case would be of importance to this issue? http://www.tennesseeinjurylawyerblog.com/2009/09/mall_security_in_tennessee_par.html#more

Each property owner HAS a say in banning smoking. They can institute a 21 year old age restriction, and allow smoking. In other words they have a choice, under certain restrictions. -

Worriedman replied to Fallguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You would need to look under Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC). You will not see anything posted, not until after they are re-done. The Senate "sunsetted" the Commission, meaning they have been relieved of duty so to speak. They will be re-constituted somewhere else in the TN Gov., (most likely under Treasury) but their days of being responsible only to "The Pleasure of the Governor" are over. Look for major changes. -
