True... but for my skill set... it would have to be a complete upper. Not sure how well I would do taking the barrel off and all. Like the forearm you have on there!
-
Your right... I may just have to break down in a few months and just get me a whole new upper. Great excuse if you ask me.
-
That looks GREAT!!!! Really makes me want a flat top AR!!

i'm going to have to find one for myself!

Some here know I like to doodle... well Will Eisner (Who drew the The Spirt, as well as being pretty much the mater of Sequential Art.) also drew military maintenance manuals in Comic book form. While I had seen some on automotive maintenance and had heard that he also did one for the M-16 back in '68 I had never seen it! Here is the link... http://www.ep.tc/problems/25/index.html Now two great things come together... the m-16 platform and a hero of mine... Will Eisner!! Woooo!!!!

Disarmed when stopped by the police?
creeky replied to Fallguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Stopped once, was asked where it was at (right strong side) and was told to please keep my hands on the wheel. Got a traffic ticket and the police officer wrote "VERY polite." at the bottom. Judge dismissed it. Been pulled over about five other times. Always hand them my DL and HCP without being asked... those guys never asked me anything about my weapon or where it was. Those five times I was cut loose with no ticket. (I have had my HCP for about 14 years now.) -

I couldn't care any less what members of this forum chose to carry. I find myself in no position to talk down about anyones choices. It's their money, their lives, their decision. The least I can do is respect that. I prefer to PM people and ask them for their opinions from time to time and seem to get very well thought out honest opinion. The only downside I can see to posting what ends up into a shouting match is when new people join the boards and do a search on a particular firearm. Then they end up sifting through a lot of pages to get to any real discussion of the firearm it's self. I tire quickly of the "my gun can beat up your gun" rhetoric. *I mean no offense to anyone. Post as you wish.

We are still praying for you Tungsten. Your like Evil Knievel... out there on the cutting edge man... risking it all, and letting us watch. I for one am truly on the edge of my seat. Thanks for keeping us posted. For goodness sake man, don't turn your back on one of those mean o' glocks!

Yes. Years ago. I have family that live on both sides of the mountain pass. My sister lives in Seattle. I would suggest the Aquarium, Space Needle, and the Fish Market where they throw the fish. When you fly in you'll see Mt. Reiner. ("The only Beer around here... is Mt. Reiner Beer!") That is the only real things I can say to try and check out off hand. My trip was spent with family as well so that was the best part for me. There are only two roads over the mountains, but if you happen to go over to the "other side" of the state... say like Wenatchee... then you'll see a totally different Washington. More open, and clear skies. A lot of the clouds and rain are kept back by the mountains. On thing you will love, if your like me, is you'll be able to breath!!! LOL!!! I never new my sinuses where so bad until I went there and could breath better! Have a wonderful trip. If you see my sister... tell Mike said "hi". I hope to take my family there in the next two years.

I could be wrong... but don't you have to have a mullet before you can legally buy a Handgun Permit Badge?

That is an excellent point.

gun safety class was about half female and half male
creeky replied to a topic in Women's Perspectives
When my wife took hers she went with her two brothers and sister in law. She had shot my Hk many times, but before she went she shot it some more for confidence than anything else as I wouldn't be with her. (Watching the kids.) She sent my buddy Mark a thank you card. When you opened it it had a three shot group inside. It used to hang up behind the counter of Guns and Leather years ago. I'm very glad to see more women shooting, and getting permits. Also VERY happy to see a "Women's" section here at TGO. Too many times the shooting sports gets a "macho" male only reputation. Nice to see the women here not only able to disscuss things together, but build their own sense of community with each other. Bravo! -
Glad to have you here!

That has got to be one of the better reviews I have read on the web about a gun. Straight, to the point, not a lot of technical jargon or slanted in any way. A real users review! Excellent job m4coyote... hope you get everything straighten out with your gun.

Sounds like a pop-ad you'd see... "Click NOW for HOT Liberal female college professors shooting guns!!"

Anytime I see or hear the word "Synergy" I start to tense up and get that quizzy feeling in my gut. I guess they are also thinking "out of the box"... so that "at the end of the Day" they will have "grasped the opportunity" to "meet and exceed" all their customers needs in this "new challenging global economy". Nice looking pistol though. Would like to see how it feels in my hand.

Try to shoot them both and see which one you like. You can spend all day reading on gun boards about what other people think. but the bottom line is that it is your money and your choice alone. You are the one that has to live with the decision not everybody else. If you shoot the USPcompact and feel it's worth the money, and fits your hand... buy one. If the Glock fits your hand, and you like it... buy it. Try the P2000sk... if you like it... buy it. Either way both will do what you want them to do in the end. I am wary of anyone who is so dogmatic on any particular firearm. They all have plus and minuses... but those mean different things to different people. (IMHO) Seeking the advice of others is wise. But in the end it is just that... advice.

A friend of mine picked the Glock for his department. he fought it tooth and nail at first. They tested a few different manufactors. he (like me) always had turned his nose up at glocks. After actually shooting one against the others and looking at the budget they had to work with... they went with the Glock 22s. All shooting scores went 20% first day. He was shocked to say the least. A friend of mine picked up a Glock 23 (having hardly never fired a handgun before) and "walked" right down a line of bowling pins (9) and missed only one. After shooting one myself, I feel both foolish and embrassed that i didn't take a closer look at them when i was younger and give them an honest try. I love my USPc... but if i had to do it all over, I might have walked away with a Glock instead. In fact, if I can get a few things squared away I plan on getting one. Maybe a G19.

Seems like I saw one at Knob Creek a dealer had for sale a long time ago. Pretty neat set up. It had an enlarged trigger guard. You pushed the trigger forward for Full Auto, and pulled it (regular) for semi auto. Can't remember the price though... plus it was a loooong time ago. It sticks in my mind because that seemed like a really neat set up/

I love my USP compact... but if I had it to do over again I would get a Glock 23. I too have thought about the 23 and the 19. If you can hit with it, and mags are cheap... why not?
