That is Too FUNNY!!!!!

If I had the cash... and wanted one... I would be inclined to the PTR-91. http://www.ptr91.com/products_ptr.html But that is just me. I have an AK... or rather my wife does.

Man! Ain't that the truth! When we used to go to the Beach I told my wife it looked like we were establishing a Beach Head! LOL!!!

That is a really good article. Some things in there I hadn't thought of. When he was descrbing the contents of his "Bug Out Bag" I started thinking how that sounded a lot like my backpack I carry hiking. So I guess I already have one. Just have to drop in batteries, grub, and gun. Here is my pack... http://www.flickr.com/photos/wecrosscreek/1487172854/ You can roll over the images for descriptions.

One only needs to look toward the midwest right now with the ice storm and all. I remember the ice storm we had years ago. We lost power for about three or four days and didn't miss a lick. We cooked on the wood burning stove, and lit oil lamps. After that I remember for a few years I always mad sure we had plenty of wood, tanks topped off, a few extra beans and canned vegtables, and candles. When I built my house a few years later I made sure I had more than one source for heat. I have Electric, Wood stove in the basement, and gas logs in teh living room. LOL!!!

That is very true.

Couldn't the BATF call them? (Not that they would.) -
It's times like these I am reminded of how much I truly do suck.
-
I have often thought about trying to get into shooting Some IDPA or USPSA sometime next year. I would be a little intimidated to be on a team though. Mostly because I suck.

I wonder if "the Range" would give the group a special rate? -
I am currently taking classes in the "Marital Arts" given to me by my wife since I have been married. I have been studing it for 15 years now. Can't say I am anywhere near a "Master" certification. It mainly involves doing what I have been told. But there are many kata's I have had to learn and commit to memory... "Take out the trash", "Call when late", "Help her with jacket", etc. I am still struggling with the one called... "Put the seat back down". It is very foreign and strange to me. It seemed simple enough... but there is something oddly difficult with me mastering it. (Sensi is not happy with my progress thus far.) I did advance quickly (not bragging mind you) in the art of "Listening... without listening." Not really hard to master... but something that has proved usefull not only in marriage... but in common day to day life. Currently I have not been given a belt... just a gold ring. But i was allowed to remove it from my nose and place it on my finger.

I used to read Shooting Times years ago for years. i recently resubscribed to it, but have not been very impressed. It seems to have changed a LOT. I won't be renewing it. I only buy them every now and then. When I do it seems I am picking up: Combat Handguns Shotgun News But for me to buy one, they have to be reviewing something that is really catching my eye.

Notice how she isn't on the front page? Notice how there isn't a focus on the fact that she is a WOMAN! And that a WOMAN with a firearm and training was able to stop a horrible incident. Or even how the "weaker" sex out gunned, and out weighed by the crimminal was able to over come him!! Seems like that is always the claim in anti-gun circles to women... how "being armed isn't going to help you... they will most likely take the gun away and use it on yourself." Hmmm... seems like it didn't happen.

For server backups they are still pretty much the standard. My facility even requires us to hold our weekly backups off site (min 20 miles from facility). They are more for corporate enterprises than anything. The home user or small business man has smaller cheaper options. You can buy two 300 GB firewire drives for under $300, and do a double redundant backup of your assets and still remove one of the drives each night for off site saftey.

Just curious... why is an H&K "about your last choice in a gun"?

We carried a group of Boyscouts through the Tenneessean a couple of years ago and on one wall in the stair well they had an old mural on the wall. It shown the newspaper industry from the kid on the corner to computers. the Girl giving the tour asked the kids what "this" was. (Pointing to a prat of a guy at a typewriter.) None of the kids knew what it was. Most just said an old computer.Dang kids and their rock n roll music! Just think Rabbi... before long we'll be showing kids revolvers and the'll be asking us what are those thangs for! LOL!! "Really! You guys shot lead through those! Cool! But where does the Flux Capaciter go? And where do you put the dilithum crystals paw paw?" LOL!!!
-
And here I thought we were just equally quality conscious. But it's cool. You can stick with your typewriters and flintlocks Rabbi... It's all good. LOL!!
-
Let's see.... you like H&K's, and Macs. I knew there was a reason I liked you.

That is what I like to hear!

For me... It would be the Kimber CDP. I like the looks and all. The size for me would be either the "compact" or the "Pro". That is about as "high end" as I would feel like going. I also like the idea of a simple military style... like the Springfield Mil-Spec Champion. Or even their G.I. 45 model. But over all it would be mainly a range gun. i am jsut not comfortable carring cocked and locked. I have never been "trained" or practiced with that type of carrying. It is a mental thing I have to get over. I know how the action is, the grip safety and lever acting to provide a double saftey in a way... but I just can't get over that hammer back. Logic tells me it's fine... but I'm just not used to it. It must be from growing up shooting single action revolvers I guess. And yes... I understand the contradiction of me being willing to carry a glock that has no external safteys but doesn't want to carry a 1911 that would have two safteys. Like I said... I admit it makes to logical sense. LOL!! (But I am working on it.)

I have often suspected the same thing. A place I onced worked suddenly posted "no forearms" sounds around the plant. The HR guy was a friend and taught Permit classes at the time. When I asked him about it, he siad it was purly a money thing. It lowered their insurance preimiums. His view it was the same as having the non-skid mats at all entrances. Un-officially his view was "concealed" is the biggest part of the "Concealed Weapons Permit". So it was basically a non-issue. All the more reason to lobby for something to protect employers from lawsuits resulting from a permit holder using their weapon to protect themselves.

Cooool! Another "Mac" guy!
