Sounds like you're anticipating the "bang" and jerking the trigger (I have the same problem). Since I haven't solved for myself, the only advice I have is to try to let the trigger break "surprise" you. I look forward to see other's advice to see if I can solve my problem too.

I've never tried the Netflix but I have watched streaming video of TV shows without too many issues (occasional lag based on time of day). I guess it depends on your Verizon coverage.

I was as nervous as a kitten at the festival but by the time I got to Wally World, it was no big deal.

If you don't want to mess with AT&T's attitude, I'd recommend Verizon's Broadband. I don't even remotely have DSL available and I've been using Verizon for nearly two years with no complaints.

since I conceal-carried for the first time Saturday. First, some background: picked up a XD(m) 40 at Hero-Gear during their pre-inventory sale in May, the wife and I took our HCP class in June (Brian Rutledge in Fayetteville), applied for the HCP July 16th, HCP issued August 19th, received on August 31st. Ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck (IWB in horsehide) and a Crossbreed belt about three weeks ago (perhaps I'll post a review of those later on) that I received last Thursday. Now on with the rest of the story: The wife and I were taking our grandniece (GN) to the Polly Crockett Festival in Cowan. Since the wife spent the night at her brother's babysitting the GN, I was home alone that morning and decided what the heck, let's belt up and see what happens. I wore cargo shorts with a loose fitting shirt untucked and had the holster at 3 to 4 o'clock. Went over the the brother-in-law's to get the wife and GN. No one seemed to notice anything unusual and off we went to Cowan. We wandered around to see what was going on and the GN (three-an-a-half years old) just had to play in the under 6 playground. She did some swinging and bouncing while the wife and I watched. An unusual thing happened while she played. No child or inflatable bouncing device was harmed by a law-abiding permitted citizen. Took her over to a petting zoo and let her have fun with the animals. I lifted her into a couple of pens so she could get up close and personal to some bunnies and duckies and guess what? Again, no child, bunny or ducky was harmed (by me at least). It started to rain so we packed up and headed into town. First stop was Food Lion to pick up a beef brisket that I smoked on the Weber Kettle grill Sunday morning. Waved to the crew from Hero-Gear sitting on the patio of Los Alamos Mexican restaurant winding down from a hard day's work (especially since Joe's gone) and went in to make my purchase. The only death during that stop was the cow that the brisket came from and I swear I didn't shoot it. The final stop was a the local Wally World for our usual Saturday night grocery shopping trip for the in-laws. Since I do most of the shopping this involves a lot of bending, stooping and reaching on my part. If I printed, no one made a scene or said anything. We took the goodies to the in-laws and unloaded (the groceries that is). I helped put the father-in-law to bed (a very physical activity since he can't do it himself) and then I went home to change. Later that evening, the wife and I were staying with the GN at the brother-in-law's and I asked her if she knew I was carrying that day. The look on her face was priceless since she had no clue. All-in-all, it was a successful first day going CCW. Hope I didn't go on too long and I guess it did turn into somewhat of a product review for the Crossbreed holster and belt. The rig was comfortable and apparently I had no problem carrying my XD(m) concealed.

For those in the Nashville area, I saw this web site earlier this morning: Tennessee Kettlebell

I'm not a plumber either but I've done that job before. I can't remember if the gasket had a specific top and bottom or if both sides were the same. If they were different, did you orient the gasket correctly? I also seem to remember that you can also over tighten the the bolts and compress the gasket enough to cause it to leak.

Strangely enough, there were no noticeable echoes or acoustic issues I could detect. The show sounded fantastic and I think WSM did a great job. They also had a couple of video cameras set up on each side of the stage but, last time I checked, they haven't posted any pictures, videos or sound clips from this weekend's show.

My dad was Navy. Thanks for your service.

I guess I should have linked to their website: Bluegrass Underground

The wife obtained a couple of tickets for the "Bluegrass Underground" that was scheduled for yesterday. If any of you are bluegrass fans, I'd recommend that you check this out. The "Bluegrass Underground" is a concert held in the "Cumberland Caverns" cave, hence the expression underground. The show we attended yesterday featured Dale Ann Bradley and Doyle Lawson with Quicksilver. Dale Ann played about 45 minutes and, after about a 15-minute break, Doyle and his group played about an hour-and-a-half. The show is taped for broadcast on WSM (650 AM) in Nashville on Saturdays at 5:00 pm. We arrived at the caverns around 11:15 and a large group were taken into the cave at 12:00 noon. The cave is a constant 56 degrees so be prepared. The show started at 1:00 pm. We had a great time and would recommend it to any bluegrass fans. I hijacked a picture from previous "Underground" event from an HDR thread.

Since I've been found out by BBill_TN, a fellow kayaker, and I've been thinking about doing a post like this, here goes . . . Where does you user name come from? Some are fairly obvious: some combination of name, school affiliation, etc. while other aren't. Mine, for instance, is based on a kayak I own. It's a Old Town Loon, a 16-foot (no inches) tandem, hence Loon160T.

Sure 'nuf. Old Town Loon 16-foot tandem. Just don't get to go out as much as we like.

+2 for Brian. My wife and I took his class in June on a Sunday. He kept the class entertaining and provided a lot of great information based on his experience in law enforcement, as a judicial commissioner and as a paramedic. Class is held at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office (leave you firearm in your car). The range portion is about a quarter mile away at the Fayetteville City range. -
Mike at Hero Gear told me their layaway plan was 20% down and either 60 or 90 days to pay the balance (can't remember which since it was at least a month ago and the memory ain't what it used to be).

The word "gesichert" is German for "Made Safe" (reference link: Luger Pistol: German Infantry Weapons, WWII Military Intelligence Service, Special Series No. 14, May 25, 1943 (LoneSentry.com)). Looks like a 1940 Krieghoff made for the German Luftwaffe (reference link: 1940 Krieghoff).

I saw something similar in the hunting supply aisle of Wal-Mart last night. I think it's white plastic that's around 6 inches long and about an inch in diameter. I didn't pay attention to the price though.

The wife and I HCPs were issued on 8/18. Her;s came Thursday. Me? I'm still waiting.
-
I called again today (3rd try, six weeks since we filed on 07/16) and was told my HCP was issued on 8/18 and I should get it in 10 to 14 days. I also asked if I could check on my wife's HCP status. They said her's was issued the same day. I got home tonight and guess what was in the mailbox. HER'S! I guess I'll get mine tomorrow or Saturday. I guess I can wait another day! UPDATE: It finally came today. Compared the postmark to my wife's and it was mailed three days later. Stats, if anyone cares, 34 days between filing date and issue date. Postmarked 08/28 and received 08/31.

Here's a link to talking points concerning opting out from the Tennessee Firearms Association's forums: http://www.*********.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=2296 Sorry, don't know why the link's not working.

He did show me a pink 10/22 once. I guess can quit wondering why now.

Plenty of skunks and possums down here so maybe Joe can use this recipe to take advantage of that: jerky -
I got the same response the last two weeks (called on Wednesday the first time and Thursday the second time). I figured I'll a couple of weeks and try again.

AMEN, 3pugguy! One of the reasons I left HR was the fact I was "surprised" by my worst evaluation in, at that time, 21 year career. Since then, I've moved into a financial position and my current boss actually does probably the most effective evaluation that I've experienced. I'm afraid that most companies think themselves to be "enlightened" but still subscribe to the "cog in the machine" theory of management.

Crosslinked in the "Restaurants That Honor" HCP thread. They have a neat B&B too.
