  1. Picked one up Friday (my first smartphone too). I've been having fun trying out all the features, apps and other things you can do with it. Got to show it off some at the Gun and Gear Expo too. A couple asked for directions to Columbia so I brought up Google Maps (included with the phone) and was able to show them the route from the Expo to Columbia within seconds.
  2. I'd recommend borrowing or renting a 22 as well. My wife borrowed a friend's Ruger Mark II and out shot me in qualifying (I used my XD(m) 40). It was her first time using the pistol also.
  3. Looked at 'em at Wal-Mart this afternoon. A 70th Anniversary edition is only $25. May have get one for myself.
  4. Anyone ever heard of "We're No Angels (1955)"? It's one of my favorites.
  5. We went and saw Mannheim Steamroller at the TPAC Saturday afternoon.
  6. This link will get you going: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tgo-forum-support/28387-faq-how-do-i-post-pictures.html
  7. Just posted a short range report with a few pictures: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/30468-range-report-sig-p238-dmps-sportical-5-56-a.html
  8. My brother and I headed up to the Viola Shooting Range ($6/per person for all day) with a small arsenal in back of my Prius. I had my new Sig P238 (purchased Friday), my DPMS Sportical 5.56 and my SA XD(m) 40. He had his Glock 22, his (new to him) Mosin Nagant and his Mini-14. Here are a couple of glamor shots of the P238 and the DPMS: We started off with the long guns. I ran 60 rounds through the DPMS while he tried out his Mosin and sighted in the Mini-14. I really like the DPMS and I'm afraid I've begun my journey down the EBR path. My brother liked his Mosin and he had been told it kicked like a mule but neither of us thought it was very bad. He's a machinist by trade and he had designed and built his own scope mount for the Mini-14. I finally got set up to try the P238 and ran around 50 round through it. It's a nice shooting piece, soft recoil and it has a great sight picture. I don't think I did too bad on the first 6 rounds (from 21 to 25 feet). I only had a couple of FTEs but I'm blaming those on the probably 15-year-old ammo I used. The box still had the price sticker of $10.50 for 50 rounds on it. I closed out the day with my XD(m) 40 and my brother let me try out his Glock. I don't want to start a major discussion on the merits of each but I prefer the XD(m)'s grip to the Glock. I have smaller hands and have the small backstrap installed and the Glock just felt too big in comparison. All-in-all, Sunday was a great day to be out shooting and we both are happy with our respective firearms.
  9. Mine is in the 12,000 too. Hero-Gear in Winchester got six in the other day (they have a least one less than that now) all black Nitron. Jeff made me a great deal on the P238, a Don Hume pocket holster and the only box of 380 ACP they had. Hittin' the range later today and hope to get a couple of pictures to post later on.
  10. What a coincidence! I found a lonely P238 yesterday and it followed me home. Hope to take it out tomorrow for a little exercise. I'll try to get some pics.

    Walther PK .380?

I forgot to mention that I did a size comparison between the PK380 to a P22 while I was at the shop the other day and, other than a slightly larger grip, the size difference was hardly noticeable.

    Walther PK .380?

Hero Gear has a First Edition PK380 in stock as of Wednesday afternoon. They're asking $499 for it (about $75 above MSRP). Walther is only releasing 2000 of First Edition models (not sure what number the one they have is) and it comes with an extra magazine and a holster. I've been looking at a PK380 for my wife since she already has a P22. I wasn't really looking for the First Edition model or I'd probably already bought it (they had it in stock for about a week now).
  13. I'll absolutely be there.
  14. I have the Crossbreed belt and would recommend it to anyone that's looking for a high-quality product.
  15. Welcome aboard, bro. TGO does have a Facebook presence.
  16. From the State of Tennessee site: "Tennessee is known as an "EMPLOYMENT-AT-WILL" state. Generally, this means that an employer may legally hire, fire, suspend or discipline any employee at any time and for any reason - good or bad - or for no reason at all." That said, I work, as a contractor, on an Air Force base where personal firearms are prohibited. We have an instance where an employee was fired for having a handgun under the seat of his car. It was placed there by his estranged wife and she reported him to the base's security office. I do not recall whether he was arrested.
  17. 'TGO' and 'Walls' are daily required reading!
  18. How about a set time for TGO members to meet so we don't have to chase name tags. Great first effort, the speakers I heard were excellent and everything seemed to be well organized. Darn that global warming, it was rather balmy today, wasn't it.
  19. Saw Fox 17 there. They've posted a short article about Bloomberg's TN "sting" with a few quotes from folks at the event today. No pictures or video though (http://www.fox17.com/newsroom/top_stories/wztv_vid_1676.shtml). Anyone know what other news crews where there?
  20. Looks like wizardpc over on walls of the city will be posting some soon.
  21. The wife and I submitted our applications on July 16th. She got her HCP on August 28th (with no calls) and I got mine on August 31st (3 calls starting 2 weeks after application and approximately 2 weeks between subsequent calls).
  22. I'm quite fond of a locally made rum, Prichard's. They also make a bourbon (Benjamin Prichard's Double Barreled) but I haven't tried it yet. It's made just down the road from me in Kelso, TN.
  23. Thanks for posting FroggyOne2. It's always good to remember why we're free.
  24. Gotta a nephew that's getting ready to deploy again (6 month in Iraq and 12 in Afgan) that owns a 'stang. I've only seen the ad once but it brought a tear to the eye then and I don't think I can watch it again until he's safely home.
  25. There's target I found somewhere on the 'net that explains what I mean. PM me your email address if you would like a copy (it's a PDF file).
