  1. 10 minutes to have either one of them completely disassembled. I took my 1911 apart to clean it this weekend after an extremely dirty range trip and had it looking like a box of parts in less than 10 minutes and that was only my second time doing it. The Standard takes a little longer because the dad gummed bolt pin is a booger and is pretty tight on my gun. But once it's free, its just a couple of seconds per part.
  2. So I finally got to get to the range and kill some paper with my new Springer. Let me start this off by saying that my only experience shooting 1911's was my buddy's Kimber and I HATED that gun. I just did not like the way it shot. Now, on to my 1911. I LOVE THIS GUN! I put 100 target rounds down range and 12 rounds of my SD ammo (Winchester PDX cause its the only thing in stock in town). I shot the x ring out at 7 yards within the first 20 rounds or so. Much more accurate than I am and I was able to shoot the gun well with my weak hand, one handed, rapid shots, etc. Very nice gun to deal with. I am now officially a 1911 believer. Thank you Springfield!
  3. I saw that and was very interested but I wanted peoples opinion on brown bear. Thanks for the feedback. I will probably be ordering some soon!
  4. I dont see what all the fuss is about. My 1911 is just as difficult to take apart as my Ruger Standard.
  5. YEP! Was at the range and I saw a cool looking AR (painted winter digital camo). Upon further inspection, it was an SBR and looked great. The guy offered to let me shoot it and I took him up on it. Thats when I saw the suppressor and the 9mm mags. TOO COOL. He let me shoot it with the suppressor on it and now Im hooked. I am now planning to build a suppressed SBR this year. I can't wait to get started.
  6. Question, Is there any reason why I cant just replace the plug? If I don't need the full length rod, can I just take the screw in piece off of mine, use the short piece and replace the plug with a normal one?
  7. How do you like that Tacsol upper? I want one but man they are pricey.
  8. My Springer Loaded has a two piece guide rod that is removed with an allen wrench. I know that there are models out there that do not require tools to take down. How can I convert mine to that style guide rod/spring assembly? Thanks!
  9. Wanna double your money?
  10. Thanks! I saw that when I clicked PackinMama's link. I think I might just have to get one. I am at the point that I really need one.
  11. I love the GP100. I think I want a 6 inch in stainless.
  12. Sadly I'm not. I have always been overweight but a few things over the past few years made me balloon from right around 300 to whereever I am at now. I need to get that back under control.
  13. I think I am going to post some stuff here. I don't know what though since my scale just says ERR. I know that I am over 400 pounds (quit "Damn!"ing now). I guess I will just wait till I get to where my scale can read me and then start posting weekly updates.
  14. From what I have been reading, it is a hybrid system. Let me find the quote.
  15. The one part of the XD gear that is worth its weight in gold is the mag loader for the first several hundred rounds. the rest of it never gets touched.
  16. Have to bump this back up since I have seen a lot of talk about it on other boards today. Apparently a 2nd quarter release has been discussed and they are working on a .22lr conversion with a .22lr version soon to follow.
  17. All of the XD's are great pistols. Here is a picture of one of my old ones and a picture of the target the first magazine through it (12 yards out). Accurate, reliable, comfortable guns. You cannot go wrong with an XD. 475 isnt too terrible if you want to help your friend out but I would be looking more between 400 and 450.
  18. To me, the LCR just looks like a regular revolver since the grips cover MOST of the polymer. The new taurus however is ridiculous looking.
  19. I just want to take a minute to address the hatred towards Memphis. I have lived here my entire 27 years of existence and my father lived here for the entire 51 years of his. While I might not agree with everything that goes on in this city, I am a proud Memphian and a proud Tennessean. I know that Memphis is not in great shape and since I have been old enough to know, I have been doing everything in my power to help to change this city. I am not alone either. There are plenty more like me. However, the biggest problem lies in the people who give up and move. If half of the people that moved because they didn't like what was happening had chosen stay, we would have the power to change things for the better.
  20. Im possibly in. Would love to hear some reviews.
  21. I have a glenfield shotgun and it would be cool to have a glenfield lever to go along with it. Thanks for this thread. I am going to add one to my wish list.
