  1. Well I did not get a blade for Christmas but I did give one. I gave a youger cousin a Randall Made fighter. I hope not wanted him to have a decent knife in the sandbox.
  2. OK so here is the deal I have a nickel plated 44 special New Century Hand Ejector AKA (The Triple Lock) I don't have any use for it, But I can't think of anything that I really want or need. From the research I've done on the net I think this pistol is worth quite a lot. So hear is the question if you had something like this would you sit on it or would you turn it into something you would shoot or multiple somethings .
  3. Start with the scope and mounts make sure they are tight. If no change try some sweets or shooters choice. be sure to get this out after cleaning. If no change swap scopes. if no change start thinkong barrels or drop me a line I'll give 50 bucks for it
  4. Gotta love a place where mickey D's has bullet proof glass.
  5. Ok So I get up this morning headed rabbit hunting and ask the boy if he wants to go 5 yrs old day after Christmas NOT. So I ask my daughter and she says yes.... Then she looks at me and says what am I going to shoot? So I stop a local gunshop and pick up a Mossberg 510 mini in 410. She is 7 and this is almost perfect for her. THe only issues that we had were 1. working the pump and 2. the trigger pull weight. I know the working the action over time will smooth it up but is there a way to speed this process up? and can I light the trigger on this gun? Clay D
  6. I just wanted to say thanks for helping my wife pick me new safe out. Although from the story I heard I might should be saying sorry. I think her and my cousins wife pretty run the salesmen through the ringer with all the haggling but I ended up with a good safe at a real good price :)the to bad it will be Tuesday before it gets here. Clay D.
  7. Ok guys I have a Rock Island Officer Model 45 ACP. The round count is somewhere around 500. The pistol has had issues since I bought it. The following are the issues that I'm having. Ball Ammo Failure to feed - the cartridge will feed almost completly into the chamber but apparently it's getting in front of the ejector as it feeds you have to bump the slide to make it completly close on the round. Some Personal Protection rounds The rounds will hang in the magazine as the slide contacts the rear of the round impacting the frame feed ramp. The pistol has been in the shop a couple times and is going back in today. So far the following has been done to the pistol. 1. The bevel on the chamber has been opened up (not sure if this is the right terminology). 2. The feed ramp has been polished. I have run numerous different brands of ammo through it and its consistent on the failure to feed with anything that I put in it.
  8. If you take the time to look at this video which I'm sure most have already seen take a look at the comments from the people on the bottom of the screen. I'm amazed at the people that bad mouth the military. I have to hope that most of these people are kids. That being said If I had acted like that my butt would have been up around my ears from Dad and Grandpa. I guess it really should not suprise me though. I was out in Kali when we went into Iraq in Hollywood (I know I was out there for work and the client from Brazil wated to go there). There were people protesting while I was there. They were in Cammies with fake blood on them. The thing about all these people were that they were either barely old enough to join up or they were old hippies. so basicaly they had not been around long enough to have a clue as to what they were talking about or they were to burnt out to remember where they were at. I know I'm rambeling but it just really get under my skin to people that have not been or will not be a benifit to society running there mouths.
  9. Well say what you want back in Louisiana I alway heard about panthers in the area but the game wardens always said that there was none, but a few years ago there was a few caught on game cameras. So the way I see it anything is possible. This past deer season headed into the woodds in middle TN one morning before daylight. I spotted a deer with my head light after moving past it 20 yards or so I looked back (looking for its blue eyes again) and there was a set of yellow eyes looking at me. I figure it was a coon at first but it's hight was wrong and the spacing between the eyes was wrong too. it was about 2' off the ground and the spacing on the eyes was 2"-2.5" apart. it was either a big coon or a big bob cat ??? I did not get close enough to tell exactly what it was.
  10. Gotta love Detroit thats where my GPS was stolen from. Of course I was the one that left it on the dash of the truck. Sometimes the best lesons in life are the ones you pay for
  11. Working on a 1099 also opens you up to a lot more deductions than a W-4 does. I work a few of these a year and my tax ladie actually told me that with the way I work, working one 1099 job a year for about 6 weeks is a good thing.
  12. I've had dogs that I thought more of still think more of than most of the people I know. I know where you are coming from but it's a decision that the individual has to make at that specific point in time kinda like shoot or don't shoot.
  13. Well I will probably get in trouble for this but what the hell. In Louisiana a yankee is defined as the string on the end of a ............ Use your imagination
  14. This is the first I've heard about this working to many hours and seems like all I do is sleep, but does anybody remember Ross Perot? In then out then in then out. THis could skew the voting to where the big O could have a chance to go back in the White House. Just a thought......
  15. Well I agree with the bow and arrow comment but there is a reason that the flintlock took the bow and arrows place. If you started preping now and had a solid recipe for BP and understood the method to mix then without a doubt I would wrather have a smoke pole than stick and string. Especially with the knowledge that we have now.
  16. Ok so I've been thinking about a survival guns. I have numerous guns that would meet the short term requirements but long term when you are out of powder and primers thats it. What I have been thinking about is flintlock muzzleloaders. From what I've read I think black powder could be manufactured by an idividual all you would need is the recipe. Granted this would not be something to undertake unless the SHTF. What are ya'lls thought on this?
  17. OK so this is something I might be able to help with 1st My 270 WSM is not a Ruger it is a Winchester M70 Primer CCI LMR 250 Bullet Nosler 130 Ballistic tip Powder Magpro 70 Gr. My rifle will shoot a 3/8 3 shot group at 100 yds The rifle has been throated to allow the bullet to set a little further out of the case (this means for accuaracy and saftey you have to shoot reloads) The barrel was taken off and sent out for a cryogenic treatment. After every shot the barrel is swabbed with sweats until the patches are clean (No little blue streaks thats residual copper coming out of your barrel). Once clean swab with a dry patch or lightly oiled patch don't put the rifle up with this stuff in the barrel!. I know there are a lot of guys that don't do this but it works with mine it likes to be clean! and I have the targets to prove it. Also...........and I'm not questioning your ability if you are not shooting out of a lead slead or a very good set of sand bags it's really hard to blame the rifle. Once you know the rifle will perform then you can examine yourself to determine if it is you that is the problem
  18. Guess I better watch out I left my 1 ton diesel truck idleing for about 4 hours this afternoon I guess they are coming for me just out of curiousity what is the carbon footprint of a 230 gr. 45 acp cartridge?
  19. Good job on the taget identification!!!!! As far as locking the doors I guess if I lived in some of the rougher communities that some of these guys live in I woud keep my doors locked too but I very seldom even worry about it my wife locks up the house I just keep a round chambered . I believe that you should never pull the trigger until you have identified whether the target is a threat. I guess its all about your experiences. I mean you have the advantage of know the lay of the house. The other side of it is at least with me I grew up hunting in front of dogs and jump shooting deer where you have very little time to determine whether or not to shoot and it was driven into my head over and aver again DO NOT SHOOT IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF YOUR TARGET!
  20. When you get the chance how about shooting a link to the website. If I'm home in April I would like to check it out.
  21. Has anybody been to this show is it worth giving up a day of hunting for?
  22. Yea the classes seem interesting at the least. I'm thinking next summer or fall I go try one out. Maybe I can convince the wife that it is a vacation
  23. I'm game but it will have to be after deer season PRIORITIES
