  1. We are not sure what price does, but its not called thinking.
  2. Thanks all for the info. I got the grips off the gun last night and it was not too hard to do. A grip screw would be better, and much easier!
  3. I'm going to try out the Rabbi's advice tonight when I get home. The guns are supposed to come with a tool to remove the grips with, but if you don't have it proceed as follows. Using credit cards (two on each side) wedge the grips from the bottom until you can slide them off of the frame pins. Doesn't sound too bad, I'll let you know tomorrow how it comes out. The Rabbi says its a pain, and I do not doubt his word, but why oh why do they make a simple thing so hard? Besides that why doesn't S&W just do a good DA trigger from the factory? I'm not bashing the guns mind you I own several Smiths and the only one I have not done trigger work on is an ancient combat masterpiece that has been shot smooth.
  4. Thank you for helping me out Mr. Rabbi.
  5. Help! I have a S&W airlite .38 a friend wants me to put a spring kit in it for him. I have done alot of these kits, but I have never seen the new style grips without a screw in them. I do not want to damage this gun at all so is there a trick to removing these grips?
  6. I have fired handgun ammo that was 50+ years old and never had a problem, but for carry it would seem that "fresh ammo" is cheap insurance. I fire up and replace my carry ammo every 6-12 months. I'm not as fussy with my house guns, the ammo in them is never exposed to any extreme conditions. that being said my "old" carry ammo has never had an issue either.
  7. I got my barrel direct from Lone Wolf it was instock and was delivered in less than a week. $107.50 delivered. After an additional 150 rds. (200+) total I have had no problems at all.
  8. I installed a LWB in my .40 S&W Glock 35 this week and got to test fire it last night. The only issue that I found was it will not work with my reduced capacity 10 rd. mags. ( thankfully I only have 2 of them) the standard 15 rd. mags work just fine, there is a significant difference in the followers of the mags, and the presentation of the round to the chamber is too low with the neutered mags. The POA/POI did not change, as I did not have to adjust the sights at all. If you reload for the Glock I would recommend an aftermarket barrel no matter what bullet you use, lead, plated etc. the chamber support is much greater and the brass will not get stressed nearly as much during resizing. So far the LWB performs as advertised and is a bargain at around $100.00
  9. Most of my neighbors have solid backstops in their backyards, as do I. When I hear them out shooting I know I am not in any danger and go on about my business. They do the same when I'm out back load testing or getting in a little .22 practice. I love living in the country!
  10. I love autos and revolvers, when I can't dress around my Glock 22, I carry a S&W 649 Bodygaurd in .38 spl, I prefer the Glock for its 16 rds. and .40 caliber power, but realistically for civilian carry the snubby is fine. Even when I have the Glock on the 649 is always close at hand, the J frame is a gun you can trust, and you can have it when you can't have anything else. Oh, by the way my favorite pistol is the 1911 .45 which I never carry, only shoot matches etc. with, because for me it's too heavy for a gun that only holds 9 rds.
  11. +1 give Ronnie a call, he is "good people"
  12. The gate is fixed
  13. You must be a current IDPA member with a classification to be an official participant in the postal match. If your club shoots it before you are classified you can still compare your score to shooters from around the country. This is like a big (unsanctioned) major match you can do at your local club. It is nice for people who don't get to shoot the "big" matches etc. All the info you might need can be found on IDPA's website.
  14. Not everyone will agree, but I like the Fobus paddle with most of my guns including the J-frame when deep concealment is not required.
  15. Get your local club involved in this years postal match! Info at www.idpa.com
  16. You guys might want to see about getting involved in this years postal match. There is a thread about it in here somewhere. Basically all participating clubs shoot the same four stages and send in the scores. Last years match had 942 shooters from around the country and Italy and Africa too IIRC. There are links and info at www.idpa.com
  17. I just today replaced the plastic front sight on my Glock 22 with an Ameriglo night sight, I'm leaving the stock plastic on the rear, due to my carry style. The sight was only $30.00 and is guaranteed for 12 yrs.
  18. Buffalo Trace bourbon is one of my favorites, try it you'll like it. Someone mentioned scotch, I don't usually drink it, but a friend gave me a bottle of Johnny Walker Black label it is a 12 yr. old blended whiskey that is quite good. My brother had a bottle of the Blue label and it is VERY good, at $225 for a 750 maybe a tad pricey though!
  19. You are correct ofcourse, but we all look to see where we wound up in the overall standings.I like to win in my div. (CDP) and it happens sometimes, but I love to get the SSP and ESP guys! (so does Gary!)
  20. Better have some kool-aid to wash down that popcorn.
  21. Better look again, Gary had a good day, but another quite amazing shooter drilled us all pretty good!
  22. IDPA is a great place to keep your gunhandling and shooting skills sharp (USPSA also) but it should NOT be used to take the place of training. If you want formal training pay for it, and them by all means shoot competitively for fun and practice. My 2 cents

    carry handgun

There are some very fine carry guns out there that fit what you describe, but I would look hard at a Glock 19 (9mm) or 23 (.40). I never had much use for Glocks until I started shooting them, I carry a G22 (full size .40) and like it alot, it shoots great is reliable and holds more ammo than I would ever expect to need. I carry OWB with no issues. You should be able to locate a Glock in your price range, I gave $350.00 for my 22 and $400.00 for my 35. Just my 2 cents.
  24. the match went smooth and a good time was had by all! Results can be found at www.rangeissafe.com
  25. I have a Colt NM that is in good shooting condition, it is not an all original gun. It has an Ed Brown barrel and a few other parts have been replaced over the years. I shot IDPA with it for a year or so. The finish on the grip is worn from use etc. I am considering selling it, does anybody know what a Colt in this condition would be worth?
