I've had a couple of them over the years, they work fine, think of it as a poor mans PPK, that will feed, fire, and eject.
-
Come out and shoot this if you can, it should be a great match. shameless thread bump!

The only jam I have ever had in my 1971 vintage AR15 SP1 was due to the coating on Wolf ammo fouling the guns chamber, I know other people who have no problems with it at all. Try it in your gun and see how it works for you. Wolf is all I shoot in my AK and it has never failed.

Backyard Shooting? (Shelby County Area)
gunsablazin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Canynracer, Did you know some of these LEOs are human beings? Shhh don't tell anyone but I even have some friends who are cops! -
The Cleveland Rifle Clubs IDPA match on May 17 will be shooting the second IDPA postal match, plus two additional stages. The postal match will consist of four stages. The idea is these four stages will be set up at clubs around the country and it will give you an opportunity to compete against shooters nation wide(last years match had clubs from Italy and South Africa too IIRC) Last years match had 942 shooters involved! This is NOT a sanctioned match! More info can be found at www.rangeissafe.com You MUST be an IDPA member to be listed in this match, but not to shoot it as our local match. Robin

Backyard Shooting? (Shelby County Area)
gunsablazin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have had a range in my (rural) Bradley Co. backyard for 12 years. I don't use it often anymore because Cleveland Rifle Club is 15 minutes away and much nicer. I pulled in my driveway several years ago and two Bradley Co LEO's were running radar at the end of my lower driveway. They were still there when I decided to go out back and shoot a few .22's, I simply walked out to them (unarmed) and told them what I was going to do, to keep them from thinking they were under fire. They said thanks for the heads up, and I went shooting. Since my kids have started shooting we have shot some out back here recently and most of my neighbors shoot in their yards as well. I love living in the sticks! -
Priceless say to bring a half dozen slugs or so I've been told.

If I get that slick little Kel Tec will O'neil let me shoot it at the chattanooga match?
-
I have carried alot of different guns over the years, but always wind up back to a J-frame .38. I am currently totin' a Glock 22 (.40) I like it because it holds a whole lot more ammo than I would ever expect to need.(16 rds.) and it is accurate enough and certainly reliable. When I can't dress to conceal it I go back to the .38 spl.
-
Unfortunately you may only load 6 rds. in a revolver in IDPA. I don't make the rules, but that is one of them.
-
Yes, you will be at a disadvantage in IDPA, however it does make sense to practice with your carry gun. I compete with a 1911 and carry a J-frame or a Glock, but I practice every couple of weeks with my carry guns. If you are shooting IDPA for practice,by all means shoot your carry gun. And yes you would have to fire all rounds required for the course of fire, not reloading and firing the two rounds you mentioned would result in a penalty in IDPA. I run into that on 18 rd. stages with my 1911, I have to reload for 1 rd.

Rabbi, I am wanting a BUG as a companion to a Glock 22 or a S&W 649, my two main carry guns. It needs to be small for an ankle holster, pcket etc.Besides the Kel Tec what would fit the bill? The Ruger LCP comes to mind, any thing else?
-
I'm considering a Kel Tec .32 or .380 to be used as a back up gun only. In these calibers I would use FMJ ammo, will a .32 out penetrate a .380. Is there enough difference between these two cartridges to prefer one over the other? I have fired a friends .32 and was suprised by its accuracy for such a small pistol, I have not shot the .380. Which would you choose?

Jagermeister (pronounced: gagamonster) does not sit well with popcorn. I'm starting to get the idea no one wants this "tactical" instruction.

Sorry I don't type so good, any opinions would be welcome about the offer. Yes the cost is $1200.00, but the package includes an XD and a bunch of other goodies. I'm not planning to take the course myself, but a friend who might wanted me to look into it for him. I'm saving up some money to spend with Dodd and Associates, and maybe Saurez as well. I know Dodd, and Cruel Hand Luke also.

www.frontsight.com/free-gun.asp Anyone got an opinion about this offer. I heard something about this guy maybe being a little shady, does anybody know why? If the training is good this would appear to be a great deal.

Technical Way around Restaurant Carry?

Alcohol is STRICTLY prohibited in TN Masonic lodges. -
I carry the biggest pistol I can dress around, usually a Glock 22, there is something comforting to me about 16 rds. of .40 on tap. When I need to be more discreet an old S&W 649 Bodygaurd in .38 spl. fits the bill nicely. My favorite pistol for shooting is a full size 1911 in .45, but to me it is too heavy to carry all day especially at work. It is my opinion that cartridges below .38 spl. +P are somewhat less than optimum, but that the real world difference between 9mm, .40 and .45 with good ammunition are not that great and you should carry what you shoot the best. That's my two cents, I don't mind if you disagree.
-
I like to compete with a 1911 in .45, I carry a Glock 22 in .40, but the 9 is fine. Your ability to use whatever you choose is far more important the caliber. I still pick on the guys at the range for choosing a "ladies" gun (9mm), but I know better!

Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association

I am not a member, but I shoot their IDPA match. They have a great range and a bunch of fine folks to shoot with. The range is open to the public for matches. Check it out at www.orsaidpa.com Robin -
I bought a Romanian WASR-10 some time ago, it's cheap, ugly and roughly made, but it shoots just fine thank you very much. I prefer the AR for fun time at the range, but if all you want is a SHTF rifle a WASR should be fine.

I shoot 2-3 IDPA matches a month, with another 3-4 practice sessions as well. On average I will fire 850 rds. of .45 ACP a month, you bet I shoot reloads! Reloads which have been made properly are just as reliable as factory made ammo, I trust mine completely to fire and function every time. The only factory handgun ammo I use is purchased for my personal defense guns, this is a legal liability issue not a reliability issue. I have heard this last point argued both ways, but for self defense, factory ammo is cheap insurance, for any other purpose I'll "roll my own".

Bob Randolph at The Gun Works, in Cleveland does nice 1911 work. In Chattanooga, J.D. Donohue is still working in guns, he can be reached through the Ammo Dump, on Hwy. 58

how many have multiples of the same type of firearm?
gunsablazin replied to a topic in Show and Tell
4X J-Frames 5X 1911s 2X Ar-15 2X .40 Glock (G22-G35) When I find something I like I get multiples. I sure wish I could find another Berreta M70S in .22 LR to go with the one I have now!
