One O these days Price, POW right in the kisser!

I am a die hard 1911 .45 fan, I shoot them, I love them, they are great guns and the .45 is a great cartridge. I carry a 9mm, from a self defence stand point you will not be handicapped by a .40, pick the gun you like, and shoot the best, practice with it until you are good with it and don't worry about the caliber. IMHO, any good modern self defence round that functions properly in your pistol and that you can hit with is sufficient, 9mm, .40, .45 not that important which. I'm sure there will be people who will disagree, and they are entitled to their opinion, but what it comes down to is what you can do with what you've got that counts. Robin

gunsablazin replied to gunsablazin's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
CHRPC's IDPA and 3-GUN clubs are getting a new wesite! Hopefully in the near future ther will be a link from www.chrpc.com to it. Until then it can be found at www.beccaweb.com/IDPA/ , here you will find match info, directions to the club, scores, stages to be shot etc. If you have not been out to shoot with us yet, come and give it a try, it's FUN! If you have any questions the website does not answer, you may feel free to contact me at digitone@digitonegraphics.com Robin -
The Cleveland Rifle Club is still hosting an IDPA match on the 3rd Sat of the month at 9:00 am, shooting starts at 10:00. We are getting a new and improved web site, the temporary web address is, http://www.beccaweb.com/IDPA/ scores, directions to the club, stage info, etc. can be found there. In the near future there should be a link from the clubs home site www.chrpc.com The cost to shoot the match is $10 for members and non- members also. We generally have 5-6 stages, which will have movers, swingers, and other fun and challenging props on at least 1 or 2 stages. Several of our local shooters are already members here, the matches are open to the public and all TGO members and friends will be welcome to come out and shoot with us. If you have any questions the website does not cover, feel free to contact me at digitone@digitonegraphics.com Robin

Cleveland 3-Gun is now allowing you to substitute a .22 LR for the rifle events, 10-22 .22 AR uppers etc.For now .22s are being allowed only in rife classes. -
I have a friend who aptly describes it like the difference between softball and baseball. Idpa "softball" at least makes an attempt to be tactically correct by requiring the use of cover to shoot from and reload behind etc. IPSC "baseball" is much more freestyle and fast paced and it gives the participant much more leeway in deciding the best strategy to get through a course of fire. Neither should be considered a replacement for real tactical shooting instruction, both are alot of fun. Both games have divisions for a wide variety of guns, revolvers, DA autos, SA autos, etc. If you get serious about it IDPA equipment is less expensive and the lower round counts mean a match is cheaper to shoot, if that is not important to you IPSC is a running, gunning good time! I shoot mostly IDPA mainly because there are more clubs within close driving range for me and it is better suited to my shooting style. Give both a try and shoot the one you like the best. I shot the Toys for Tots match at ORSA in Nov. and loved it it was IPSC style mostly and it made me want to shoot some more IPSC this coming year. Now go outside and PLAY! Robin

Yes you may shoot Wolf at our match. Our club will not currently allow us to shoot steel of any sort with the rifles (shotguns, handguns only) so any type of rifle ammo is fine.

I shoot IDPA at my home club in Cleveland (chrpc.com) we shoot on the 3rd Sat at 10:00 every month. In Oak Ridge at ORSA they shoot on the 1st Sat. at 9:00. The guys over at midtnshooters.com have a wide variety of matches including 3 sanctioned matches each season. If any of you guys want to shoot as a squad I'll be happy to do the SO bit and shoot with you any time. If you are new to the game don't worry you will get plenty of instruction on the rules etc., we focus on SAFETY first!, if you can handle that you will be made most welcome. Please don't feel intimidated to come out and shoot competition, we have shooters of all skill levels, and even the very best shooters shot their first match at some point. If you can't tell, I'm addicted to action pistol sports of any sort,IDPA, IPSC, 3-gun, whatever you call it is FUN! Give it a try if you haven't already, trust me plinking at coke cans will never be the same again. I would suggest IDPA as a great game to start with, the courses of fire are shorter and less dynamic than IPSC, if you will go to IDPA's web site you can download a copy of the rules to look over before your first match, I would recomend you all do that. Let me know what club in east TN you guys want to start at and I'll do my best to be there, I'm in. Robin McKinney:woohoo:

Kahr CW9 probably not a cannon, but its LOUD!

No shame in my game I've got six, 4 pistolas and 2 rifles. Shoot the MKII almost every week after IDPA practice as a cheap way to get in another 100 rds. or so. They will always be a great training tool and just alot of fun to plink with.

I gave up drinking to support my shooting habit, one of the best things I ever did for myself! After a long day of shooting I can remember how much fun I had. Robin

Now that you've almost learned how to shoot a handgun are you going to learn the other two? FS

Colt SP1, 1971 model almost like new!, Bushmaster superlight carbine for plinking with.

Come on out and shoot with us! What is better than shooting? Answer shooting and helping kids at the same time! Orsa is always a fun place to be, so be there. Robin " I have an entourage " McKinney

My supplier in Chattanooga has been out of Win. large primers for weeks. I'm not desperate yet, but is this a local thing? If there is a supply problem has anyone heard of it? Robin

The folks at the IDPA forum did an international postal match this year, had at least three countries involved, 942 shooters total. It consisted of 4 IDPA stages, it was fun to set up and shoot. If this forum does a postal match for pistol or rifle i'll get my club in Cleveland to play! Now to pat myself on the back I finished 37 overall out of 942, not bad for an old guy with bad knees! To all the shooters who don't compete, give it a try. It does not matter if it's skeet, trap, steel challenge, IPSC, IDPA whatever gun you like to shoot find a game it works for and go PLAY! You like the people on this forum, I do, you will get to meet people like these, who love to shoot. My game is IDPA, the shooting is fun and challenging, but the people I compete with are the best. Go find a game and play, you won't regret it. The more shooters active in the sports the better for the gun industry our public image etc. Did I mention it's FUN! One more thing, don't worry about being a beginner, we were all beginners at some point. So get off the couch, turn the TV off, go outside and PLAY. Robin

Glocks and things like kabooms, firing out of battery, etc...
gunsablazin replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
I have been considering a Glock 34 for SSP in IDPA. I'm not a true Glock fan, but it is a popular platform in IDPA. This post makes me want to shoot an M&P, I have fired an XD, they are OK, but don't seem superior to the Glock. What makes the M&P so hot? Or do I have to shoot one and see? I shoot a 1911 .45 in CDP and am a long time 1911 shooter, so I'm not easily impressed with all these "plastic fantastic" pistols. Robin -
Do you belong to the Cleveland Rifle Club? If not you might want to check it out. www.chrpc.com will get you there. Welcome to the forum. Robin

Just thought about my feelings when it went down, where I was etc. My children were babies then and I wondered what would become of this world, I still do. We must destroy this enemy!! Robin

Howdy, I live in Cleveland and work in Chattanooga. Do you shoot competitively? There are several good local pistol matches in our area. Welcome to TGO Robin
