  1. You can get directions at www.doddtraining.com ,The matches are going to be held on the 4th Sat. at 10:00 am starting in March. I'm am planning to be there to help kick off the first match, another place to play is always a good thing! Robin
  2. You two better look out! that jolly old elf can still shoot pretty good!
  3. These folks want to know what to use on their guns, not what you use on your hair!
  4. We are an "outlaw club", we have a rule book that is currently a work in progress. Basically, Open = anthing goes, Tactical = Optical rifle sight, Limited=iron sights on all guns. There are a few more rules, but that is it in a nutshell, we are trying to keep it as simple and safe as possible. If you come out to a match the provisional rule book is available to look over, when we get everything nailed down the rules will be posted on the web. If you are interested, .22 LR is allowed in all rifle divisions currently in an attempt to make playing the game affordable. Robin ( I'm not incharge of anything, I just make the rule books!)
  5. I wear one of my IDPA vests when I am in places where I don't care if people know I am armed. Some of the people I work with and myself carry at work, our boss likes it because in her words it "makes her feel safe" (nice boss huh!), but to keep our customers from possibly feeling uncomfortable I wear a vest so it is at least not obvious that I am totin'. When out with my family I use other, less obvious methods, most of the time. Robin
  6. I owned a CW9 which is similar to the PM9, the one I had functioned perfectly and the pistol was way more accurate than a small carry gun needs to be. I carried it for almost a year and only sold it to finance my next purchase. The trigger does not take long to get used to, if you want a good carry gun I'd say you'll be happy with the Kahr. Robin
  7. My Sprinfield 1911 .45 hit the 870 rd mark yesterday, with no cleaning or additional lubing, looks like it will make the 1000 rd mark with no problem. Robin

    I want one!

How about a gold plated 50cent special limited edition Glock!
  9. I like the comp-tac line of holsters, they make IWB and OWB holsters, I have found that having several ways of carrying the same gun is a must depending on how you are dressed. And of course there will be times when your primary carry gun will be too big, so you will need a J-fame gun,and several ways to carry it as well. I'm really not exaggerating too much if you are serious about carrying all the time. I also have a nightstand drawer and a box full of holsters, some I like and some I don't, it seems to be a never ending quest. Good luck.
  10. Yes, the BBQ is good and still open as well!
  11. Try www.orsaidpa.com Oak Ridge has very good monthly matches USPSA,IDPA, Steel Challenge,Cowboy Action etc.
  12. I'm on it.
  13. High Point may build guns that are even uglier than Glocks, but like the Glocks they work fine. I have a bud who has one of those carbines,it functions fine and is quite accurate as well. Not my cup o' tea, but if you want a cheap 9mm carbine get it. Gun Test magazine gives it a good rating as well and they are not kind to guns that don't work.
  14. You don't understand, LEAVE Britney alonewaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh,wwwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhwwwwwaaaahhhhhhhh:biglol:
  15. The nice lady who owns Fugates Firearms in Calhoun, Tn is my second cousin, not only does she know her stuff about guns she is also a person of the very highest ethical standards. Simply put they don't come any better than Carmen. Robin McKinney
  16. The slide-glide in my dirty Sprinfield, has worked perfectly down to about 20 degrees F. I am using the lite version however.
  17. I have been a pressman for over 25 yrs. spent the first 18 or so on 40" 4-6 color sheetfed presses in high end commercial shops, for the last 7 yrs. I have worked for my family running a Heidelberg QMDI 4 color press, it is a neat little machine, uses no film, it uses lasers to image its own plates right on the plate cylinder. We are currently looking at installing another press, most likely a 23x29 5 color with an inline coater. I ran a Heidelberg Windmill when I was just a lad, so I have some letter press work under my belt too. Robin
  18. I love a good wheel gun! I shot most of the 2006 IDPA season with a S&W 625 Mountain Gun, .45 ACP. It is as nice shooting a handgun as you could hope for. I'm back on my 1911 right now, but if I was limited to one handgun that Smith would be it, no doubt about it. Robin
  19. I do not shoot IDPA to practice gunfighting, I shoot it because I enjoy the game, and I like it when I win one every now and then. I don't know why, but a .40 downloaded to near 130,000 pf or so has less felt recoil than a 9mm in the same gun type, ie. glock 34 compared to the 35. I don't compete in that class yet, but when I do I'm using a G-35 with light loads. The first time I fired that combo I asked the owner of the pistol when Glock started making a .22, really extremely light recoil. The light .40 is the "gamers" gun of choice right now, shoot one and you'll see why. I'm not knocking the people who shoot IDPA to practice their defensive pistol skills, everyone has their own reasons for shooting. My name is Robin, and I am a gamer.
  20. I am expierimenting with the slide glide light, so far it performs as advertised, including the part about reduction in felt recoil. It has been in my gun for 600+ rounds with no cleaning or adding additional lube at all. I am shooting 230 gr. precision poly coat bullet using WW 231 powder, not the cleanest shooting load in the world, but I have had no malfunctions of any kind to date. I have a match at Oak Ridge this weekend, and am not cleaning the gun before that. If all continues to go well I will clean at the 1000 rd mark. I do not normally treat a gun like this, but I wanted to see how good this lube is. I normally clean my competition pistols every 3-400 rds. and have always used a CLP type lube, which worked fine. After this test is over I will go back to cleaning this gun every 500 or so. The gun I am testing with is a Springfield Armory 1911 SS loaded model, which has always been 100% reliable anyway. FWIW, Robin
  21. You do have the basics covered there, the officers models have a shorter than 4" barrel, there are also lightweight frames, officers frames with commander length barrel, as in the Colt Defender. The Good Lord is probably the only one who knows for sure about all the variations of 1911's that have been tried over the years.
  22. Welcome to the forum, Pop. Robin:cheers:
  23. There fixed it for you Price, really you spell like you shoot!
  24. I work in printing, I'm an Offset Lithographer, fancy name for pressman, also a janitor, and armed security all at the same time and for the same pay. Robin
  25. I use a Comp-Tac paddle for IDPA, they are great holsters and I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase. Robin
