Every time Halsam and Wamp open their mouths, Ramsey gains a few polling points. I sure hope they keep talking!!

I've seen several people saying that Ramsey will not win as their excuse for voting for another candidate. This displays a fundamental lack of understanding of their responsibility as a voter. The purpose of voting is not to vote for a 'winner'. The purpose of voting is to show your selection of the person best suited for the job. If you are not voting for the person you believe is best suited, you end up with unsuitable people. Your vote should not depend upon opinion polls, talking heads, or Britney Spears' opinions. The only thing that matters is YOUR opinion of who is best for the position. And this love/hate thing is really silly as well. I don't know anyone who really 'love's or 'hates' a particular candidate. Generally they prefer one candidate over another. While I believe that Ramsey would be the best person for the job of TN Governor, Wamp as governor would not be the end of the world. I think that the Legislature could keep his Federalist and free-spending tendancies in check. And while Constitutional Carry and making TN gun laws make sense might take longer, it will still be possible. The point is, become informed to the best of your ability and vote your conscience. That is your duty and responsibility as a free person. Doing otherwise is how we got Obama.

As stated above, try to shoot it before you buy it. The CETME is a good rifle. Parts and magazines are inexpensive, so there is no excuse for not having spares. Biggest problems troops have had with the CETME military versions are bolt rollers cracking (relatively rare if you keep it clean), ejectors getting bent, and receiver dents. For civilian use, you are unlikely to see any of these. Still, I would recommend a complete bolt head (with firing pin) and complete trigger assembly (with ejector) as spares. HK mags usually work quite well in the CETME and are very inexpensive. They have the ergonomics of a 2x4, a trigger made for gorillas (not guerrillas) and are quite heavy for a 16" barrel rifle. Still, they are known to be very reliable and accurate if you get used to the trigger. Have you looked at the FN FAL? You can usually get a decent one for just a little more than a CETME. Steven Tyler is big 2nd Amendment supporter. For all that the band is from Boston, they do NOT have Massachusetts political beliefs! Getting rear-ended by senior citizens happens quite frequently to motorcycles. Slower reactions combined with inability to accurately judge distances means that seniors tend to fail to stop soon enough. Joe Perry is one heck of a guitarist and I hope that he doesn't lose any of his talent because of a bone-headed woman.

Wamp and Haslam acted as though they were the only ones in the race. Both ducked and dodged and basically slammed each other. McWherter and Ramsey were the only ones who came across as having any integrity and being honest. I think that Ron Ramsey benefited from the debate, but Haslam and Wamp were hurt by it. TV ads and yard signs do not win elections. Only people who actually go out and vote matter. If you want a candidate to win, talk him/her up to your friends and neighbors. A personal contact counts a LOT more than TV ads or yard signs. And yard signs are yours for teh asking.

This ammo is a mild steel core and contrary to popular belief, it is NOT 'armor-piercing'. If you post it on GunBroker, you can probably get $.35-.40/rd for it, especially in unopened spam cans.

This was a VERY common caliber until after WWII. Many pocket-sized revolvers used it, a well ass many larger ones. It was the standard British pistol cartridge in WWII with a 200gr RN bullet. If you see references to a .380 revolver cartridge, that's the British name for this cartridge. I used to shoot it a LOT when I was young and very poor. A Lee handloader, some wheel-weights, primers, and powder were all you needed to shoot all day long for a penny or so a shot. Using plinking loads, the cases were good for 15-20 reloadings, and once-fired cases were sometimes picked up free at the range. That was in the '70's, and the old H&R and Iver Johnsons were still pretty commonly used as shopkeepers guns.

The Supreme Court is under no obligation to hear ANY cases. But they have said that they try to hear cases where lower courts are in disagreement or the law is not clear.

This has a lot more to do with MacDonald than Heller. And there is plenty of ammo at lower court levels. Not just US v Rock Island, but also US v Farmer, and others. It has been ruled in several Federal district courts that the '86 MG ban presents a legal contradiction. The Supreme Court has been adamant against taking ANY MG-related cases. An excellent MG case for the Supreme Court would have been US v Hamblen. They declined to hear that one just a few weeks ago.

I don't see it being sustained. If an individual has a right to keep and bear arms, then any restrictions on that right are subject to strict scrutiny. Under 'strict scrutiny' there has to be a constant and compelling reason to deny that right. That means the antis will have to PROVE that people are safer in gun-free zones than in other places. The problem is the cost and effort involved in challenging these laws. It is much cheaper and easier to change the law than to get them overturned in court.

My family and I just got back from Arizona. If you have not seen the Grand Canyon, you really MUST see it!!! Didn't get hassled or see anyone getting hassled about ID. There is a lot of BS in the media about the Arizona law. The ACLU statement above comes really close to being an outright lie. When you read it, it sounds like they are saying that the law invites officers to arbitrarily arrest anyone who 'might' be in the country illegally. Actually, the reverse is true. It says that AFTER a person is arrested, if the person is suspected of being in the country illegally, THEN the police can require that person to prove they are here legally. And this section IS an outright lie: "If individuals are unable to prove to the police officer that they are permitted to be in the United States, they may be subject to warrantless arrest without any probable cause that they have committed a crime." If you cannot prove you are here legally, then THAT is probable cause of a crime (illegal entry into the US). I'm surprised. Usually the ACLU does a better job of trying to incite outrage without resorting to such obvious lies.

More weirdness about gun laws is required to answer that question. What makes that a Destructive Device is the caliber - 20mm. If you take the barrel off, it's no longer a Destructive Device, but just a simple Title 1 firearm. In 1968, if it was not registered in the amnesty, then is contraband with it's barrel, but not if it doesn't have the barrel. Every now and again, these turn up that were not registered. I have used the Remington Target Standard Velocity for years. Out of 16-17 inch rifle barrels and pistols it is subsonic, cheaper than the 'Subsonic' ammo, and much more accurate.
