  1. I see a lot of near term heads up and reviews of past shows, but I thought I'd give a couple of links to see upcoming shows a little further ahead than that. https://gunshowtrader.com/gunshows/tennessee-gun-shows/ https://rkshows.com/events/category/tennessee/ http://www.greatamericanpromotionsllc.com/ https://www.gkshow.org/spring-show-information
  2. A buddy of mine is far senior to me and has a couple of transferable machine guns that he's had since the '60s, but he's not interested in researching them on the net so he's looking for a Nashville (or 50 mile radius) NFA shop that can appraise them and possibly handle selling them.   Who's left in the Nashville area  that you gents would trust to do a good job and treat him fairly?   Thanks!
  3. Helping load in Th AM then trying to get the early view of things if exhibitor traffic doesn't make it too unsafe.  I'll be at 706 most of F/Sa/Su, but wandering around a bit.    I hope folks come by and say thanks to Doug and the Knife Rights folks for their work on getting the laws changed in TN.

Knife Rights booth (706 beside KaBar) with the display of some of the knives in the Ultimate Steel raffle? Killer deal for folks to sign up and buy a ticket for a chance to win custom knives and expensive production pieces (and some firearms).   I'll be there most of the convention helping out and encourage everyone to drop by considering the good work KR did for TN in getting the archaic laws removed about knives in this state.
  5. I pocketed an RKK Swift Striker I with black blade this morning.
  6. Yes, SMKW, Taylor, and Case were all important in getting the bill passed.    Mr. Pipes is very much aware of the law.    Sadly, no special celebration today.   Supposedly, the sales floor staff were talking about starting 1 July at Ka-Bar day this weekend.
  7. Haslam signed and now all we have to do is wait for it to go into effect!   http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1771
  8.   I would consider anything from Frost to be money wasted that could be better used by putting it back for a better quality product.
  9. http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/inside-the-knife-rights-movement-20140326   Grrrrrrrr!
  10.   Any of these would do  :panic:  or   or
  11. American "I-talians" http://www.burnknives.com/   OTOH, you'll see plenty of them at gun shows this summer.
  12. You're gonna have to define what "best for the money" means.   From a using standpoint the Microtech Troodon, Combat Trodon and Scarab were tough enough to be real usable knives.    For quality "value" play OTF the Paragons are a good buy at ~$150.   For an OTF you would have trouble frightening anyone with the MT CA Legal UTXs are fun.    The HKs aren't bad, but they're not worth the bux, in my opinion.    Stick with the "brand name" makers (unless you can score a Robbie Dalton) like BM, HK, MT, Paragon, Piranha   Stay away from the smuggled junk. Cheap barely does them justice and they were brought into the country illegally anyway.
  13. Perhaps "Mine, mine, mine!" is worthy of consideration also?   Since it was about a piece of legislation I used "4" (legislative) and left a message asking the Governor sign SB1771.
  14. Until the Governor signs it the change won't be law so we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves and start carrying with the full freedom the legislation will allow.
  15.   Yes   Buck Woodard is a very good knife maker.   Depends upon what you consider the ballpark.  You should be able to get 80% of that listed price with no difficulty as long as the knife is in mint condition.    With knives the critical question is:   Has it been carried or just part of the collection that has never been sharpened and only flipped but nothing cut with it?
  16. Ryan Haynes already responded to me with a promise of his support for HB1883.
  17. If you help persuade them this year to pass this bill, perhaps next year that can be the focus in TN, but for now all efforts need to be on getting this through and signed into law.  One step at a time.
  18. Also try to keep the G10 vacuumed up and of your hide.  It isn't kind to it at all.    BTW, kirinite is an acrylic like polymer.  Grinding/sanding to 200 and then work up below 1500.
  19. For those who aren't certain of what TN law saws wrt to schools - https://web.lexisnexis.com/research/retrieve?_m=c63c4fdf8213a1b3bd2f39f04cbc1f82&docnum=7&_fmtstr=FULL&_startdoc=1&wchp=dGLbVzk-zSkAW&_md5=c8765301b7145602d652fe666618550b   39-17-1309.  Carrying weapons on school property.    (a) As used in this section, "weapon of like kind" includes razors and razor blades, except those used solely for personal shaving, and any sharp pointed or edged instrument, except unaltered nail files and clips and tools used solely for preparation of food, instruction and maintenance. 20. It took about 5 minutes to call each one and aske that they vote YES and support the bill.  Pretty easy just sitting at lunch.
  21. Check Kim Breed and Gary Wheeler in Clarksville. They're American Bladesmith Society bladesmiths.  I even think Gary is making a seax as one of his Master Smith knives.    http://www.americanbladesmith.com/index.php?section=users&subsection=user_detail&user_id=462
  22. Did any of you folks send an email in support of this kid and in opposition of zero sense zero tolerance abuse?
  23.   Sorry, I thought it was clear that you wanted to throw in the towel now instead of waiting for things to get tough.
  24. Be sure you're not paying some unscrupulous knockoff artist and getting inferior quality.
