A lot of folks ain't buyng into the PILF (Palin). She has a lot of followers, but she has more that aren't. Worse for her is the fact that she won't follow a strategist's direction. She's a compelling girl, but she can't win. DC will continue to be what it has aways been... a corrupt mess with very good PR schemes.

And a call from the ATF will definately change their minds. I think WD is probably on the right track, since they seem to have a hearing problem.

My thoughts have been running along the same lines this entire thread. I have played with a couple of Derringers in bigger calibers. First of all, they immediately show the shooter's intent. if the hammer is down, it's a paper weight. Cocking one isn't nearly as smooth and graceful as cocking a revolver. As I recall, I used both hands. If this story is true, it certainly isn't the first time somebody had their uncocked derringer taken away, and got a good slap in the process. I have seen a few "free' pistols in my life that were taken away from folks under similar circumstances. Not saying it was smart, just saying it happens.

Nice rifle. I assembled a lower yesterday. I bought a set of roll pin punches awhile back. I used one that was long enough to clear the end of the receiver when installing the bolt catch roll pin. I still taped up the receiver. It worked much better than tapping the pin directly with the hammer.

This is probably one of those cases where you really had to be there. I've seen a couple of idiots brandish a pistol over the years. It's probably better for everybody that they didn't get shot for it, not that they didn't deserve it.

She was an intern. If that has no significance to you, then you're not paranoid, you just don't know how a large newspaper works. I'm not scared to talk to her. I believe she's just trying to write a paper for school.

On a college paper... Sure. I had a blast with the Times reporter, and it came out pretty balanced. "I'm not telling my story because they'll distort it" is a paranoid way to look at it. The facts are really on our side.
