  1. I guess it is next year for me, but would love to get involved. Working this weekend. Let us know how it goes and if you can make this an annual event.
  2. Thanks for a very informative and enjoyable time. Also thanks for calling off the rain early. Wood flooring would be nice and possibly a domed covering over the entire area and while you're at it, A/C and heat as well.
  3. If you don't mind the width, the Beretta PX4 subcompact is very accurate and nice to shoot. I have the .40 in the subcompact and the 9 in a compact.
  4. I have the compact 9 and really enjoy it. Very accurate and easy to shoot. I also have the px4 sub-compact in .40. Both are a little thick but not bad. I will pocket carry my .40 at times. I carry both in a iwb or a fobus paddle holster, depending on clothing. I carry with the safety off and partially cocked. This allows for a little take-up in the trigger but still a longer pull than single action. Any subsequent shots would be single action. I practice this way at the range as well. I use the safety when transferring from holster to safe and back. I also utilize the safety as well as having the gun cleared when handing the firearm to someone else.
  5. Merry Christmas, just got back from dropping my wife off at the airport. Hardly anyone on the roads.
  6. I was with you until you added the big guy. Driving home last night with my 15 yo daughter I asked for her thoughts on this subject. She said that she loved Santa as a child and was glad that we gave her the opportunity to imagine. She said she loved Santa. She was also glad that we did not try to convince her otherwise when she started to seriously doubt in his existence.
  7. There is a saying of the three phases of a person: 1. you believe in Santa Clause 2. you don't believe in Santa Clause 3. you are Santa Clause! Some of my most cherished moments are seeing my daughters reaction on Christmas morning. We have always kept Christ front and center of Christmas and always will. Now my daughters and I teach Sunday school to Kindergartners together, something we have done the past 5 years. We talk of Santa to the children as Saint Nick and make sure that they understand whose birthday that we are celebrating.
  8. My daughter is also disabled and cannot rack a slide. For this reason she is a revolver girl. At first we went with a .38 airweight but that proved too snappy even with low recoil loads for her. She now has a three inch SP101 .357 and loves it. She mainly shoots .38's and occationally .357's. Shooting .38's is no problem now for her with the added weight of the gun. For the money you could look at either a used Ruger SP101 or S&W M60. You could also look at the Taurus 605 new. Another option would be to look at the SP101 in .327 magnum, 6 rounds and it will shoot just about every .32 round.
  9. I would try and make afternoon but church obligations must come first.
  10. I would try to get there is it can be done in August. I have church obligations on Sunday mornings starting in September. If I can't attend it would be nice to hear as to what was discussed.
  11. That's where I am concerned. Do I have to be beaten into unconsciousness or so badly that I can't even pull a weapon without it easily being taken away from me before I can claim "fear of serious bodily injury or death" ?
  12. Being a dad is a great thing, but it comes with many pains.
  13. First Post, might be true, but only one with positive things to say.
  14. Hope this is the case, because once I saw the original post I said "Why bother"
  15. At this point focus on the front sight only, the target will be a blur. Welcome to the club.
  16. Whose to say that it was not an accurate account of what happened???
  17. My hands are still too numb to type. Had a great time and wow, what an eye opener. It will be hard to go back to static targets again. Thanks Hognut for helping me out and being patient. You did not tell us the story behind your handle.
  18. Do they do this at any other Bass Pro Shops?
