  1. Hey, everyone. I'm trying to fight the urge to buy a 2 1/4" SP-101, but I'm pretty sure it's a losing battle. When I do buy one I intend to carry it. My current EDC is a Glock 27 in a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2, and I'd like to know how the little snubbie compares. For all of you who have (and carry) an SP-101, what is your preferred method and chosen equipment? Bonus internets for posting pics for me to drool over! Thanks!
  2. From a money/value standpoint, you did very well on that trade. The G30 (by all reports) is scary accurate and relatively soft to shoot. Congrats!

    1911 Micro Compact

Penny at Springfield Armory told me it's a Lightweight Micro (Loaded), PX9804L, made in January 2003. Parkerized finish with all the parts shown in the pic, and it hasn't been in for any kind of service. Hope this helps! ETA: They may not have called them "Loaded" back then (she said "similar to our current Loaded"), and the current models are bi-tone only.
  4. Happy Birthday, and congratulations on your gun AND your wife!
  5. I put GAP plates on my G27 mags and am very happy with them. No length added and control is awesome. You can check them out at http://www.concealablecontrol.com/ .
  6. Your wife is awesome and that's a really sweet deal. Do you plan to run the serial number through your local LEO? P.S. - If it comes back clean, I'll give your wife $300 for it.
  7. Wow. Really puts the Ruger Mark III in perspective.
  8. GAD601, thanks for joining the forum and engaging in these exchanges with us. I certainly feel like someone at GAD cares now, and I will visit again in a few weeks to see how things are going. My only recommendations would be that you research what other shops in the area are providing to help keep your business competitive, encourage your employees to join this and other forums to help them become enthusiasts like us, and to take a genuine interest in the needs of your customers. Make us feel important and treat us fairly, and we'll give you our business. Thanks, Dean
  9. You're right. I think I've seen that it applies to "First Responders" which would even cover EMT personnel. It's a good program.
  10. The new management really makes NSA great now. They're friendly and they seem to be gun enthusiasts, and that makes a great combination. I visited the store once under old management and the guy couldn't be bothered to give me a price on a gun he didn't have in stock. He said he doubted he could get anything from his distributor, and wouldn't even try.
  11. No worries, TNARMOR. You are correct that blue label guns are for LEO, but the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) members are entitled to one blue label gun at LEO prices per calendar year. After May 1st, they are restricting the discount to multi-year members, and members renewing after their first year (to curb abuse of the program). As for agendas, I assure you I am only reacting to the experiences I personally encountered. Your mileage may vary and you are welcome to shop anywhere you like. I would reconsider GAD for future purchases if I felt their prices and services were more competitive.
  12. Places I've used for transfers: Nashville Sporting Arms: $10 + TICS (TGO members) Guns and Leather: $25 + TICS Bass Pro Shops: $35 + TICS
  13. Well, there's a good Step 1: Become a Benefactor! But you may be right. He can at least PM me the price and answer the other two questions here in the forum.
  14. Did this just get missed?
  15. This is what I meant when I said they missed their market. While I'm sure there are plenty of novices in the Bellevue area who would buy their one and only gun from shops such as GAD, a quick browse of the pictures posted by members here will show who in the population buys multiples. I would court the enthusiasts. To GAD601: I don't want to unfairly judge your pricing if you've been making changes. Can you please tell us your everyday price on a standard Gen3 Glock 19 with standard fixed sights and 2 15rd magazines (white label)? Also, do you support the GSSF discount program (blue label, with 3 magazines)? Finally, what is your FFL transfer fee, and are there any parties from which you will not accept transfers? Thanks.

    Good Deal on XD?

I had an XD45 Service and loved it. I never once had a failure of any kind with either FMJ or defensive HP loads. I did sell it to go Glock, but only because that's the way the wind is blowing for me right now. You have a fine weapon that you can trust your life to. As for extras, there's not much you need with an XD. Plenty of night sights are available (try AmeriGlo Independent Light and use GLOCKTALK for a discount code), and just about everybody makes holsters for them. Can't think of much else you'd need. Enjoy! ETA: Be sure to check out www.xdtalk.com for continued support.
  17. Wow... I had to listen a few times to make sure he actually said that. Just...wow...
  18. Glad to hear it!
  19. For my money it's really hard to beat a Glock 23. It's a little smaller than a 22, without losing a full-size grip. Very fun at the range, easy to carry concealed, and reliable as heck. With a little looking around, they're pretty easy to find in the $400-$450 range (GlockTalk.com is where I'd start shopping). You can also join the GSSF (Glock Sport Shooting Foundation) for $35 and purchase one Glock per year at Law Enforcement price...$425 for a brand new Glock 23 (Gen3 or Gen4) with 3 magazines. Several shops around town honor the GSSF pricing, and there are a couple of good purchase options online (Ed's Public Safety, for one). Good luck with your search!
  20. GB is all about the seller. I went through at least a half-dozen guns last year from GB (sold a few, too) and didn't have the first problem. Just check the seller feedback, look for $25 shipping (or less) instead of the "buyer pays actual shipping costs" and you'll probably do just fine. No Reserve listings are the most fun.
  21. I had a lot of good luck upgrading my Springfield Armory 5" GI. Next time through, though, I'd like to build a custom 1911 from a quality Fusion Firearms kit. Comes with all the stuff that requires specialized knowledge and/or tools. From there you can just pick your parts and send off for a nice finish job.
  22. Yep.
  23. Since I've recently returned to college after 22 years away, let me be one of "those" people who sees every problem as a nail that needs to be hit with their shiny new hammer. In this case, what I've been learning in Economics. opportunity cost: the cost related to the next best choice available (what you will have to give up to have one thing over another) sunk costs: past costs that have already been incurred and cannot be recovered (like what you spent on your XDm and trigger kit) rule: sunk costs should be ignored in making economic choices Proverbs such as, "That's water over the dam," and "Don't throw good money after bad" underscore the irrelevance of sunk costs. So how does this apply in your case? As others have noted, it seems you've already decided you'd like a 1911. Therefore, you should look at trying to raise funds by selling what you have, saving up new money, or a combination of the two. I consider every gun I buy to be a sunk cost, and I've not yet been able to recover what I've spent when selling or trading. I can always, however, apply it's current market value toward the next thing I want. In short, it's okay to not like what you have and it's okay to want something else. Go get your 1911! PS - First post nailed it. (usually does)
  24. Today I'm wanting a Gen 4 Glock 27 pretty bad. Guess that'll be my next purchase, come payday.
