  1. The scene at the gas station was as funny as anything I've seen in a long time. He has a super-human talent for insulting people so subtly that they don't notice.
  2. A man had 50 yard line tickets to see his first Super Bowl. As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty. He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there. "No," the man replied, "The seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the first man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world and not use it?" The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first Super bowl we haven't been together since we got married in 1967." "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral."
  3. You guys got me hook, line, and sinker. I just joined IDPA and cannot wait for next Saturday's classifier. Assuming I get my membership packet in time, do I just bring the card? If I do not get it in time, I hope the above offer to hold classification for a month is open to anybody.
  4. I think I was in the same group. If so, they really were awesome and informative. I learned a lot and had tons of fun. What a great weekend...I got to try IDPA for the first time AND the Packers win the Super Bowl!!! Couldn't be happier.
  5. This show had me hooked in the first episode. Raylan smashes that young neo-Nazi guy's mouth with the butt of his own gun. The guy whines about his busted mouth and Raylan says..."Outlaw life's haaaard ain't it? You should stick to something safe like poachin' gators."
  6. I'd also like to thank MCTS for hosting an AWESOME match. I had so much fun that I can't wait to do it again. Even knowing what I know now, I'd brave the sloppy mud, frigid cold weather, and long waits at some bays to do it again tomorrow. I resent the time I wasted waiting to give it a try. Now that I know how much fun it is, I'm hooked.
  7. Sounds perfect for a 1st timer like me. I've been wanting to do this for years, so count me in.
  8. Dry-firing it a lot will do wonders for the trigger, since each pull will be full DA. You'll see a difference in no time, but it will never feel like a striker-fired trigger except in SA. Good luck baggin that trophy hog. Wish we had some around here.
  9. Offensively, all we had going for us was a running game. I like our WR's, but they probably wouldn't start anywhere else. I don't think the team has had a "good" QB since Warren Moon. Fisher isn't the GM, just the coach. I think he did as well as anyone else could have with the players he's had. They'll get a new coach, but he'll ask for a solid free-agent QB and WR. He'll get this and be better instantly. Everyone will say "see, Fisher sucked"
  10. CZ's have a rather complex trigger system with lots of moving parts. These parts will smooth out a lot after 300 or so rounds, leaving you with a smooth trigger that feels great. If you ran 50 rounds through that gun this weekend and let somebody put another 250-300 rounds through it for you, you'd be AMAZED how much different the trigger felt when you got it back. You'll feel other differences too with time, but the trigger gets the most benefit from use. The bigger issue is reliability. Until you've put hundreds of rounds (including the hollowpoints you intend to carry) down range, you can't really trust any gun with your life. You'll find that some ammo works better than others, too. Lots of CZ owners report having issues with CCI Blazer ammo, but they usually handle just about everything else with grace, even the cheapo Russian ammo like Wolf, Tula, and Bear.

    Ruger LC9

I'd like a lot of things about the SR9c better too. The extra length and width would make it a much better shooter, but I gotta admit that there's something to be said for the big difference in weight even if it does cost you a lower capacity.
  12. Congrats on your first centerfire and for your impeccable taste. The SP-01 is an awesome gun. I love all of their decocker models. I have the smaller P-01 and a friend has one like yours. We swapped at the range one day and I was VERY impressed with how much difference the longer sight radius made. It is by far the most accurate 9mm I've had a chance to shoot.
  13. I've been picking up a few things here and there, since I couldn't afford to buy it all at once. Now I think I have everything I need to get started on leather work, but I realized I don't know a good way to get the initial shape I need for different handguns. Did you get the pattern right by trial and error (leather ain't cheap) or did you take an old holster that you liked apart (even more expensive) or what?
  14. At 24 yrs of age, being with a girl for 3 years is a big investment, especially since you've actually known her even longer than that. If you think about it, you've been with her for half of your adult life. I think you have to be just as sure you're willing to throw away that investment as you are that this behavior will continue. You said it only started recently. Before you write her off as crazy, scrutinize your recent actions to see if anything could be mistrued as suspicious or radically different. For instance, if she was suddenly spending more time away from you, she's spending more money than usual on clothes/makeup/perfume to look good, she seems distracted/distant, less interested in you, etc. would you wonder if she was up to something? Also, if you are overly defensive about her prying into your stuff like that, it may have made her even more suspicious. I may be way off base here, but nobody else would play devil's advocate. Personally, I'm a very loyal, but private person and so is my wife. We aren't FB friends, don't read each others' texts to others, bank statements, etc., but we love/trust each other. So, if my wife started to exhibit the behavior you describe, I'd be more curious why or what I did to give her the wrong impression before I'd bail. Then again, you've been through this more than once with her, so it does sound kind of odd/obsessive/controlling.
  15. Not all LEOs are as into guns as us. They have lots of other tools (patrol car, radio, cuffs, their demeanor) that are used more often than their sidearm. The minimal qualifications they must meet are determined to be good enough by people with a way better grasp on the big picture than most of us. "Good enough" under the situations they deal with beats the crap out of my tight group on a piece of paper from the range.
  16. Thank you, Tom, for saying so eloquently what most of us have been thinking. Taking nothing away from your well-spoken, expertly-framed remarks, I have to take my hat off to Chris Peck and his editor for being REAL, objective journalists long enough to let a dissenting opinion reach their readers.
  17. Uh oh! I've shot somewhere b/w 700 & 1000 rounds of cheap commie crap (Wolf, Bear, Tula) in my CZ P-01 (steel & aluminum) all the time. I also shoot cheap reloads in my Ruger SP101 (built like a freakin' tank) all the time too. I WILL NOT shoot this same stuff in my Glock (plastic), though. However, I did read at the link below that there is not a single confirmed kb report from any of the 9mm Glock models. Glock kB! FAQ v1.35

    Ruger LC9

I was comparing the LC9 to the Kel-Tecs (PF-9 and P-11): The P-11 has the best capacity (+3 rounds), but is the tallest (+.35"). The PF-9 is the smallest (-0.4" L, -0.2" H, and -0.12" W) and lightest (-4.4 oz). The Ruger is the heaviest and longest and is the only one that WILL NOT handle any +P ammo. We know you can get either K-T for around $250, but I'd guess the Ruger is gonna stay around $400 for a while. Anyone seen a "real world" price yet?

    PINK GUNS

I told my wife about this site, she said "hey, Valentine's Day IS coming up!"
  20. +1 That basically sums up their mission statement, which is why I bought one to start with. Being at least as dependable and more durable than many guns I've had that cost hundreds more is the reason I kept it.
  21. This is the best argument we could offer for tort reform. Most of the civilized world has laws that allow this kind of idiot to sue as well, but if she loses, she has to pay for the legal fees of the other party. That alone would get rid of a lot of these frivolous lawsuits that cost innocent parties thousands of dollars to defend themselves. It's no wonder so many defendants offer settlements. It's cheaper than the court battle.
  22. You're right that was a crappy thing to say...I couldn't help myself.

    what do you feel

I'm wearing my SP101 as we speak, but I'd still go with a GP 100. Love my snubbie (that's what she said), but 10 or so rounds of full power .357's and I'm hurtin'.
  24. How much you wanna bet that if the results hit 54/46 or lower, they'll pull it off their site. They can't handle the truth, that's why they invent their own version of it.
