  1. At $10/24 issues I'm paying 42 cents per month to look at the pictures and have something to carry around in my backpack, so I don't feel like I'm toting a purse to work, LOL.
  2. Wow, they DO both look really nice! I can't believe you haven't got to shoot them yet. I'd be going crazy if it were me.
  3. My dad fed us all kinds of game growing up. One of my favorites was par-boiled and baked ground hog with BBQ sauce. Other than that weird one, we've had racoon, possum, rattlesnake, and of course the normal stuff like squirrel, rabbit, deer, game birds, etc. I'd have to be way hungrier than I can imagine to eat buzzards, coyotes, or other folks, though.
  4. I enjoy the ads more than most articles, but the pictures and write-ups of guns I've been hearing about is why I get them.
  5. I wasn't up for renewal, but I ran across a good deal. I just renewed over the phone for 2 more years (24 issues) for only $10. The same promo code will get you 1 year (12 issues) for only $6, if you have problems with commitment, LOL. Here's the promo code: 4P0B254 (that 3rd character is a zero, in case you aren't using copy/paste). Hope this helps somebody save a few bucks.
  6. That or one with a thumb lock would be nice too, but they aren't available for my CZ. Besides, the High Noon I'm getting is free. I won it in a Christmas drawing on another forum.
  7. If I like this pancake, I'm thinking of getting a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake for my SP101, which I wear occasionally too.
  8. A CZ P-01 9mm
  9. Thanks for the feedback, I did not realize the fit was this snug. My Don Hume IWB for my revolver fits this tight, but I wasn't sure if a pancake would. Seems like most aren't fans of the thumbstrap, so far.
  10. I've never used one either, so your opinion is as good as mine. I have a service holster with a thumbstrap for my CZ-82 and it hangs up between the hammer spur and the beavertail when I draw it, but the gun (CZ P-01) that I'm gettying it for doesn't have a spur hammer it has kind of a skeletonized combat hammer, so I don't think it could hang up. As for open-carry...I'm not much of a fan of it, so I'd never, ever do it. I am only considering the strap for added retention when getting in/out vehicle, sitting/standing, and bending/moving, but I hear a pancake pulls it in pretty tight. So maybe it's not necessary at all. edit: I'd be interested to hear what I'd be missing out on though from the person(s) who do vote for a thumbstrap.
  11. I'm picking out my first pancake holster and would appreciate your input/advice...Should I get a thumbstrap or not and why? My choice is narrowed to one of these: Sky High Slide Guard
  12. I was hoping I caught you before you placed an order, but I guess not. Sportsman's Guide is having a Buyer's Club Only special right now on EOTAC Operator Grade Tactical pants for $17.97!!! I was floored, since my Woolrich and 5.11 pants were almost 3X that price. Here's the item numbers: A1KW-201929 (all waist sizes with 30" inseam), A1KW-201930 (all waist sizes with 32" inseam) , A1KW-201931 (all waist sizes with 34" inseam) BTW...my favorite things about EOTAC is that they have mag pockets on the front of both legs and wallet pockets & those big slash rear pockets. Plus, they are cut to fit guys who aren't very thin.
  13. Jeff, did you ever post a pic of this baby yet or did I miss it? I'd sure like to see it.
  14. Me too...I always get a little gloomy this close to the end of the season. I's gonna be sooooo long before it starts back up. I may not have won my fantasy league, but at least the Packers are still in the playoff hunt!!!!
  15. This is what I was hoping to hear. I already asked GunBroker.com and am waiting for a reply. The last 2 guns I wanted to buy had too little time left to wait for a seller's reply. I just wanted to be prepared for the next chance.
  16. I haven't bought anything with my C&R FFL that I got this fall. Yeah I know, crazy, huh? I really had my heart set on a CZ 52, but haven't had much luck finding one. I finally found one in good shape and reasonably priced online. I know I can have a C&R weapon sent to me from a site with my FFL on file. Will sellers on sites like GunBroker.com honor my C&R and ship directly to me? Have any of you had any luck buying a C&R gun on GunBroker without having it shipped to a FFL dealer?
  17. Good grief, man. No wonder! Did you ever get to sleep?! I took an 18 hour semester, a 21 hour semester, & another 18 hour semester in a row when I first went back to finish my degree. I was only delivering pizzas part-time and it was gruelling. I can't imagine how tough 18 hrs would be with a full-time job. You are definitely more tenacious than me.
  18. Ooooh, ! I like this one a LOT. What's that handle made of?
  19. I have no doubt that my 500 looked out of place too. Especially since one guy in our foursome had an O/U that he said costed around $2K. He outshot me for sure, but he could have done so if we had traded guns, LOL.
  20. I'm also looking forward to hearing how the EMP does out of the box. I've always wanted one too.
  21. Kudos on getting so much done while holding a full-time+ job. Thats impressive enough, but to graduate with honors on top of that..."check out the big brain on buttonhook". Seriously, great job man. My Computer Information Systems degree from MTSU is really a Bus. Admin. degree "with emphasis...". I've considered an MBA to get ahead in my field, but I really want a PhD, so I can teach.
  22. My wife has been pestering me for years to "do something" on NYE besides sitting at home, which I prefer. I guess I got it all out of my system when I was younger. Anyway, I bought Zanies tickets to see Tim Wilson! I was stoked, but then she didn't wanna go. I wound up giving the tickets away ($66). Never again!
  23. I've seen people "called out" for not checking to see it there was already an open thread on a topic, but seldom seen any objections to bringing back the oldies. I took that to mean that what you did is preferred over starting a new thread...just my 2 cents worth.
  24. I took my Mossberg 500 and went out to Big Springs this fall for my first try at skeet. All the guys in "tuxes" didn't make fun of my "jeans" at all. In fact, they were real friendly and helpful. It was very obvious that my Mossy wasn't the reason I was so bad, so nobody even mentioned getting a better gun. It did beat the crap out of my shoulder thru the 2 rounds I shot before I called it a day. I was bruised up pretty bad, but eh it goes with the territory. What they all did recommend is to spring for lessons before I developed bad habits.
  25. Laws are weird huh? We can get a permit to carry a loaded gun, but the knife in your pocket can't open itself or be over a certain length and we can't carry any form of club/baton either. Go figure!
