My Hi-Point C9 is big, ugly, and heavy. It's hard to get a good grip on it when racking the slide. It only holds 8 rounds and has a terrible trigger pull. On the other hand, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. It's more accurate than is should be for the price. It's made in America and the warranty is great. Unfortunately, I still wouldn't recommend it for anything other than plinking, b/c it won't go all the into battery after mag changes without a push.

I think it looks decent and Ruger makes a fine firearm. If it runs as good as a LCP or Kel-Tec, they'll have a winner and make another mint. I got burnt pretty bad on a Taurus, so I'm not a big fan of their semis. I'm sure their revolvers are just fine.

Maybe I'm just lucky or tngw1500se was unlucky, but I trust my Kel-Tec. The P-11 has been in production for 16 years and a lot of folks over on KTOG are nuts about theirs. Here's some decent info about them (real quick read): Kel-Tec P-11, The Almost Ideal Pocket Gun I'm holding out for this bad boy, here: Ruger® LC9™ Centerfire Pistol Models

I got a newsletter from GunsAmerica about the upcoming Shot Show. One of the featured pistols that they briefly mention is Ruger's new LC9. With their LCR and LCP momentum, I'm betting it's gonna be a huge hit. If you believe the short write-up below, it would be worth checking out, unless you don't like pocket guns SHOT Show Sneak Peek – Media Day at the Range It's also on Ruger's splash screen for their home page: Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.

When my kids were young enough to think a gun of any color might be a toy, I made sure they couldn't get their hands on it. As soon as they were old enough, they each got "schooled" on firearm safety and they STILL couldn't get their hands on them. Now that they are teens and have made dozens of trips with me to the range and several serious talks about how kids get shot with "unloaded guns" while showing off to their friends, I feel a little more comfortable, but they still can't get their hands on them. Mine aren't just "hidden" where they "can't find them", they are locked up, so they physically cannot get to them without some serious tools that they don't know how to use, LOL. I'm not trying to be argumentative about the idea that kids might think they're toys. I just couldn't live with myself knowing I left them a way to get their hands on them when I wasn't around and someone got hurt.

I'm with the folks that may not like them for myself, but like the idea that they exist. I'm for almost anything that gets women interested in shooting, it's good for the industry and the pro 2A movement. As far as them looking like toys...if a bad guy laughs or doesn't take her serious and keeps on coming when my wife pulls a pink gun out of her pink holster in her pink purse...he's getting shot! My only hope is that he survives, so he can tell everyone else in prison that he got shot by a girl with a pink gun, LOL.

Surprise at work this morning. Carrying guns here is now legal.

Good for you for being tenacious and fighting the good fight! -
Good for you! They really need as much support as we can give them right now in the wake of all that Tuscon crap. I'm good til 2014, but I may go ahead and extend mine too.

Was President Obama using code words for gun control legislation?
BigK replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've been listening around the office to people talk about this all week. I've heard a lot of folks I know to be hard-core conservatives say stuff like "Why does anyone need a gun that holds that many bullets?" and "Nobody should be allowed to have a gun capable of holding that many bullets". I don't even need to tell you the kind of stupid crap I've heard the lefties say. These people are ignorant on so many levels it scares me. What frustrates me the most is that there's no way for our side to reach enough people to correct the ignorance to start with. I asked a few how come when a drunk driver kills someone in a car crash they don't call for the immediate ban on alcohol sales or automobile sales, but as soon as a lunatic shoots somebody, they blame the weapon he used? I guess I'm just sick of the way too many people demonize firearms. -
there was a something folded?

Hey, I appreciate the feedback about shooting left. You're actually 2nd person that has mentioned that I may just need to get used to the new trigger, I'll bench it next time out to see if that helps. I had no idea there were 2 versions of the G34. I thought they all came with 3 mags, so I asked and the seller said it only had 2 mags when he bought it new. My 3rd mag is a Korean knock-off the guy threw in for free. I don't have a trigger scale, but I fashioned one using a shoelace, some duct tape, a pencil, and a jug of water. The weight of these items and the water it took to pull the trigger was just at 73 oz. Close enough to a 4.5# trigger for my estimation. The SA pulll on my EDC is 1-2 oz short of 5#, so they are pretty close.

La Vergne, here. BTW...the map is kinda cool.

REAL late to the party, but I'm on there now, too.

I'll definitely shoot you an email in the next couple of days to see some of the pics you mentioned. I almost took the Dremel and a woodburning bit to that trigger guard last night, but I am a little apprehensive about altering the frame just yet. I guess I'm still gun shy about making alterations that would make it hard to trade/sell it. I guess I'll just get over that and do what I want to it to make it fit me.

AWESOME! of you guys to help me out so much. I really appreciate it. Thanks Bronker for finding that pic for me. I know exactly what you mean about the 1911 to Glock transition. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool CZ guy, so this thing feels VERY foreign in my hand right now. The important thing is that my son like it for now. I've got plenty of time to get accustomed to it after he's done getting the feel. I do like the sight picture, but "want" adjustable sights. Maybe I don't need them and maybe I'm wrong, but by my reasoning a target/competition gun should have them. After only one trip to the range I've already noticed how quick the "ball in the box" is for follow-ups. I don't know what you were shooting before that made you have to change your grip to accomodate Glocks, but I definitely know what you mean. The ergonomics on my Ruger Mark II and CZs are so instinctual that I don't have to think about it. Still, I manage okay shooting my .357 Ruger, so I'm sure I'll get this too. Priority one is getting my son up to speed with the new gun he'll be using. I'm sure if he starts off right, it'll be much easier than changing later.

I went to the gunshow looking for a 9mm w/ a 4 - 4.5" barrel. I hoped to find a CZ 75 w/ decocker, a RugerSR9, an XD/XDM or maybe a S&W M&P. I wasn't really thinking about a Glock, but it just stood out for some reason. Hey graycrait, you got some b/a pics of what you did to yours posted anywhere. I can't tell from that lil avatar.

My next door neighbor is from Michigan (the :poop:y parts) and I listened to him spew the same nonsense about how "you guys can't drive for s*#t in the snow" for a long time. He is also a OTR truck driver, so he fancies himself some kind of expert driver. HE HAS HAD 2 SINGLE CAR ACCIDENTS IN THE SNOW IN THE LAST 2 WINTERS. Both were when no one else was around. Mind you, he didn't volunteer this tidbit of info, his southern wife, who is as sick of his southern drivers comments as I am, told us.

I didn't dislike the way this 34 shot, other than the POI, which may be me, the sights being out of alignment, or a combination of both. It ran fine, but so do all my other guns (including a Hi-Point C9). I may get over the "Glock-knuckle" with time or I may take the Dremel to the trigger guard eventually, who knows now. Anybody got an idea how much a G17 slide & barrel would cost in case I warm up to this gun and decide to try it as a CCW?

Immediate area being south Nashville? That would be awesome!

+1 on the corn AND the other foods to avoid...will harm them over time. Maybe not the first time or when given infrequently, but why knowingly harm the animal? I'd also like to add bones to the list. They splinter and break into pieces with sharp edges that can tear their intestines. Again, why risk it?

I want to thank everyone for their feedback. Like I said up front, this was a free holster that I won in a Christmas Giveaway on another site. High Noon Holsters is one of the site's sponsors and they contributed this prize and I am very grateful to them for being so awesome! Dig this...I emailed which model I wanted and what gun it needed to fit on Sunday (1/2/11) and they informed me Wednesday that it was already heading my way (it was NOT a "stocking item"). By Friday it was in my hands!! Are these guys awesome or what? Their usual turaround time is 10-12 weeks, due to volume. My choice was ANY holster that sells for under $100. I chose a Slide Guard in black to fit my CZ P-01 and I'm very satisfied with it. I've been wearing it all weeekend and I can't believe how comfy it is. It fits my gun perfectly and holds nice and tight when it's on my belt. The height/cant are perfect for me and reholstering is easy/instinctual. This is my first OWB holster (not counting paddles) and I am now a big fan of the pancake style. My belt doesn't even feel like there's any load on it, which is a HUGE improvement over my IWB holsters that dig into my hip when I tighten my belt enough to keep my pants from sagging. Well, here's some pics of it... Slide Guard front by BigK Slide Guard w/ CZ P-01 by BigK Here's the back: Slide Guard back by BigK

I saw a concho just like that at the Tandy Leather store this weekend. Ironically, I was there to buy stitching tools, dye, wax, leather, etc. to make one myself. I'm kinda like you in that it needs to be functional first, pretty second. I'll get better at the pretty as I get more experience, but I gotta get the effective part down right the first time. Afterall, leather isn't cheap enough to mess up many times. Did you find a patter to use or just "eyeball" it?

It feels more like the square edge of the side of the trigger guard is digging into my middle finger on my right hand. It was considerable less noticeable this time, b/c it was cold enough outside to wear some thin leather shooting gloves. They were unpadded, but it gave me a better grip. So, maybe it was at least partly due to me feeling like I needed to squeeze it hard to get a better grip, but I'm not sure yet. I'm gonna drift the sights and apply some grip tape before my next trip out with it to see just how many issues those 2 changes correct.

My 75# Olde English Bulldogge and my 85# American Bulldog are leaner and healthier since we switched to feed store dog food too. I get them a brand called Exclusive for the same reasons you said: less poop, less allergies, & high protein. Exclusive also contains omega vitamins for their skin and glucosamine & chondroitin with msm for their joints. My 2 favorite things are the every 6th bag is free and that it's completely corn-free. The first ingrediet on the bag is chicken, not chicken meal or bone meal (which appear farther down the list), but chicken! My AB had some gnarly stomach issues for what seemed like forever. We switched to this food and poof! gone in a matter of days. We carried an empty bag to the vet b/c she asked what food we switched to. It seems she had other clients with dogs who had similar digestive issues and didn't carry that brand in her little store. Anyway, she was impressed for the price it's darn good food.
