The problem with entitlements is that the politicians KNOW it's a sure-fire way to keep us dependent on them. They're like crack dealers! They get people strung out on gov't money, all the while knowing once given, it can NEVER be taken away. They'll let us go bankrupt before they'll cut entitlement spending enough to balance the budget.

OHSHOOT, we have demands that must be met!
BigK replied to Dolomite`s Breezy's topic in General Chat
too funny! I bet he has accomplices holding a Lorcin and a Bryco in case the 1911 fails. -
It does bother me a little, but only b/c they don't really check my DOB they just asked to see it to cover their a$$. They don't even look at it. They just look at it be able to say "I asked, they showed".

Commie. Ha! That's funny! I thought most people who are emotionally stunted, sociallly crippled, and uable to deal with the real world got that way from listening to NPR and watching Michael Moore films. Seriously though, I love the book and have read it several times. She's a bit idealistic and wordy in some parts, but overall I think everyone should at least read the Cliff's Notes. The movie could be good, but I don't have high hopes. Afterall, it's coming from Hollywood, the epicenter of left-coast lunacy. Where will they find actors, directors, and screenwriters who won't butcher the idea to make it marketable?

I bought one from CapByrd last fall and am very happy with it. I changed out the springs and fell in love with the trigger. Even with the Hogue grip, it's a little painful with .357 SD loads. It made me like revolvers so much that I wanna try a six-gun in IDPA...at least once.

The first I ever bought was a Bersa Thunder .380 for my wife. We used to live in a bad area and I worked nights. Now it only gets fired twice a year by me when I clean it. The first I got myself was a Ruger Mark II with a bull barrell. Still have it and expect to teach my grandkids (some day) to shoot with it. It still gets used at least once a month.

Question. My wife can't rack the slide on any of my handguns.
BigK replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
I taught my daughter the technique that LagerHead described. I told her to 1) get a firm overhand grip on the top/rear of the slide with her left hand, 2) hold the gun normally in her right hand (finger on the frame), 3) push that right hand forward, 4) while pushing with the right hand, resist the forward movement with her left hand. She can rack almost any pistol using this technique and she's not very strong. -
+1 on the P-01!! It's a great gun. It is very accurate & with shorter sight radius it makes for quick target transitions. It's rugged too...took mine to a class & put well over 1500 rss thru it in a weekend. It ran perfect. Only gripes: heavy DA trigger, gritty trigger 1st 300 rds, and fewer holster options than the most popular guns.

I'll definitely check these out. I haven't liked any I've had so far. I guess you have to see how you'll be using them before you know they work or not, unless you get good recommendations. Thanks

You guys ARE the best! I wound up with a cheap Fobus paddle style mag holder. It was functional & got me thru the day, but I hate paddles (harder to get on/off than belt syle).

Music City Tactical Shooters - IDPA Classifier 02/19/2011
BigK replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Today's classifier was a blast (no pun intended)! Thanks again to MCTS for your patience and hospitality. I can easily see this being a regular thing. Funny thing, I put "pending" on my IDPA #. Guess what was waiting by my front door when I got home...my IDPA membership kit! Pretty fast, since I just signed up online Monday. -
Unfortunately, price is an issue, due to limited funds. I have a $25 budget. You and Greg are awesome! I'm gonna try a couple of LGS on my way home. If I have no luck, I'll send a PM. Thanks guys.

I need a double mag holder for a Glock 9mm quick! I ordered this (http://www.opticsplanet.net/511-double-mag-pouches.html) and it arrived in time, but it holds regular double stack mags, not Glock mags. So, I gotta send it back. I need one for tomorrow morning, so I have to buy one today. Anyone know where I can buy one locally without getting gouged?

Sounds MUCH better than the weather we had last time! Think it'll still be muddy? -
S&W 15-22 back home and something unexpected followed it.
BigK replied to Links2k's topic in Show and Tell
I like the version of the 15-22 you got. I don't blame you for missing it bad enough to repurchase either. They are fun to shoot and look great with all kinds of stuff hangin off 'em. I gotta say the Crimson Trace laser is an awesome addition to a gun that small. I was impressed with how accurate my little Kel-Tec P32 is with the laser. The battery lasts forever too. I know they are supposed to be a point-and-shoot gun, but on the occassion that it's all I have with me I wanna make the best shots I can. -
I heard about the decocker issue, which really sucks, b/c I'm a big fan of decockers. The instructor had us shoot a steel popper at 100 yds with one of my other CZ's (P-01) when I took a defensive handgun class once. I was impressed with it. I would imagine the 52 could do it more easily with the potency of that cartridge. Sorry to hear you found out the hard way, glad nobody was hurt. Mine has the original firing pin, so no dry-firing for me until I get it replaced.

I'm torn on this debate. I like my rigger's belt with kydex liner a lot. It's stiff enough not to sag, but thin enough not to stretch metal holster clips. On the other hand, leather is just more versatile. I can wear it places I wouldn't want to wear a nylon belt. I have a very rugged ranger belt from SportsmansGuide.com ($20) and a fairly decent belt from Bianchi ($35). Neither are as nice as what Gregg is talking about, but they work good for me and I can afford them. I just recently discovered the Perry Suspenders and they are great. I tuck in a tshirt strap up and pull a polo on over them and nobody at work knows I'm wearing them.

I started looking for one before I got my C&R and the only luck I had was GunBroker.com (most were >$300 and not in great shape). The import cycle of these guns is probably over now, so you won't likely find any for sale other than through these kind of private sales. Afterall, there were only 200K of these beauties made for the Czech army and I think almost all of them were imported to the U.S., but not positive. They must have been wary of getting rid of them, b/c they warehoused the stash for over 10 yrs after they were replaced by the CZ-82 before they sold the 52's off. At the time there were about 200K troops, so I suspect the same will happen to the CZ-82 too. I had a chance or 2 to get one recently, but they were in bad shape AND overpriced. I hope you find one easier than I did, but be patient and get a good one or it will ruin the mystique.

I completely disassembled it for inspection/cleaning this weekend and took it out to the range today. It's a shooter, keeping a 14 out of 16 shots inside a couple inches at 10 yds. I'm sure the 2 fliers were me, not the gun, but they weren't really all that far off. If I included them the group would've been around 4". It sounds like a hand cannon going off and has fairly stiff recoil too. It feels about like shooting .357's in my SP101.

After looking for a reasonable priced CZ-52 for a couple of years, I finally got my hands on one. I owe a huge thanks to gregintenn, who saw it and let me know. I got about 70 rounds of ammo, 50 pieces of unused Starline brass, 2 boxes Hornady bullets, full set of reloading dies/shell plate for 7.62, an original holster with 1953 stamped in the leather, the original cleaning rod, 2 mags, the pistol made in 1953, and dig this...it also came with a barrell to convert it to 9mm for $250. I thought it was a pretty good deal, especially since the finish is excellent. Now I just need to get me some wood grips and I'll be in business.

What next? I have all the handguns I ever wanted. Did I leave one out?
BigK replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
I like this idea best. Although I have little doubt you know how to shoot what you have, we could all improve. I have less than half that many handguns and freely admit that I want a lot more. BUT...I've decided to spend most of my gun money on improving me and my skills. A recent IDPA intro convinced me I needed that more than new guns. YMMV -
I don't even know what he got, but I already have an opinion on it, LOL

The scene at the gas station was as funny as anything I've seen in a long time. He has a super-human talent for insulting people so subtly that they don't notice.

A man had 50 yard line tickets to see his first Super Bowl. As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty. He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there. "No," the man replied, "The seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the first man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world and not use it?" The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first Super bowl we haven't been together since we got married in 1967." "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral."
