Saw a guy OC'ing today
fullmetaljoe replied to fullmetaljoe's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Not that I know of. I'm not trying to say that it was a big deal, it's just that his carry method was really obvious and people still didn't notice. -
I met my brother and his wife at a local barbecue place for lunch today and noticed a fellow patron open carrying. He was carrying some flavor of full-size XD at about 2:00 on his belt. He left part of the way through our meal, so I asked my two family members if they had happened to notice that the guy in the grey shirt had a gun. They both gave me surprised responses. One of them asked me, "Did you see it in his pocket or something?" They were more surprised when I mentioned that it was on his belt for all the world to see, and that he had walked right past them immediately after we had entered the store. I know some people feel very self conscious when carrying. The above is a great example of why you've really got very little to worry about. Most people wonder around in Condition White. If they don't notice a balantly unconcealed weapon, they probably won't see your concealed one.

I've ordered from them also. Smooth transaction, fast shipping, and no complaints.

Camp, I remember that particular stage where you hit the popper three or four times before it fell. The hits that didn't drop it were a bit low of center. I had to make two hits on that same popper with my Glock 19. Also, I feel like I should apologize. By the time you were getting quite frustrated with it, I was laughing at the whole situation. What would you say the general differences are?

"Successful life bodystyle" cracked me up. Good videos, Paul.

I've often seen "little brown men" used as a nickname for the Gurkhas. I do not know its origin, but I do not think it is usually a derogatory remark, but more likely a reference to a story in their history. For instance, this page on the Himalayan Imports site(a Nepalese company who makes kukris) uses the phrase in reference to the Gurkhas.

We need a simple FAQ on Knife Steel types
fullmetaljoe replied to vontar's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
If all you want is a decent EDC, then don't get all wrapped up around different steels. Just select a model from a quality manufacturer that appeals to you and do a little research on that model to make sure it isn't a hunk of crap. -
"How to Shoot a Rifle" or "How to Shave Like Your Grandpa"
fullmetaljoe replied to a topic in Training Discussions
I've had Art of Manliness in my RSS reader for a while now. It's very worthwhile. -
Both PistolGear.com and XDpistols.com are showing some some "semi drop-in" .357 Sig barrels of varying lengths.
-
Balisongs aren't specifically mentioned, but they would probably fall under TN's definition of a "switchblade."

Generally speaking, I'm a sucker for green guns.

King's Firearms is in downtown Columbia, and I believe they charge $20 + $10 for the background check , so $30 per gun. Not super, but not bad either.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing, sir.

If I don't have a Glock on my belt, I'll have an LCR in my pocket.

I've been working on my Becker BK11 today. You know it's getting sharp when you can see yourself with the bevel.

Who'd you have to kill to get it at that price?

I use a Norton "economy bench stone," 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper, and a leather strop with Veritas green polishing compound. Just maintain a consistent (or close enough) angle, and use progressively finer abrasives. Getting an edge that can shave arm hairs is actually not all that tough. Edited to add: A shortcut I've used before is to use the stone normally, but then use a cloth buffing wheel with polishing compound to polish the edge. It works fast.

I might as well throw mine out here.

Here's an old video you might be interested in.

Video of a guy hit in the face by a Mossberg 500
fullmetaljoe replied to shaftbass's topic in General Chat
My reaction to the first video was exactly the same as the guy filming. -
I've seen a few clips on Youtube, I initially watched it expecting to see an exploding pig.

Good to see another Columbia resident here. If you need to keep it local, I know that King's Firearms here in town has a gunsmith. However, I can't comment on the quality of their work, so you might be better served by a 'smith who already has a good reputation on this board.
