  1. I agree with Caster. I feel sorry for anybody that has to go to Wal of China Mart.
  2. My favorite hunting load is a Hornady 150 gr. spire point behind 48.0 gr. W748 and either a Win. LR primer or CCI 200. I've played around with several other loads. A good target load for me is a 168 gr. Sierra HPBT and 43.0 gr. 748 and Fed. 210 M. I've meant to try some varmit loads with lighter bullets but, I've never got around to it. I can't remember OAL right off the top of my head.
  3. I don't kmow if any gun shops have any or not but, you can still get them from some of the dealers like Southern Ohio Guns and J&G Sales . As far as I know anyway.
  4. If I ever get a dark one I'll do something with it. Tan it and make something.
  5. For some reason I never used to see dark coyotes but now I'm seeing some like that. There's at least one here close to home.
  6. Have you ever tried making it yourself? Its a lot of work but, worth it in my opinion. Do you have a recipe?
  7. That cracked me up. A friend told me once he was hunting on public once and while he was hunting a guy comes strolling through the woods. He said I waved to let him know I was there and he waved back. Then he just comes up and asks if I've seen anything. He said I told him no, not yet and the guy sets down there beside him. He said I was just staring at him and wondering what the h--- this guy is doing here. I finally said, do you have a spot to hunt and he says no, I don't. Then I said well, this is my spot that I've scouted out and found some rubs and good trails. Then guy says , oh, I see and wanders off.
  8. I was wondering anybody had done this and how did they cut the blades. They are super hard.
  9. I love the pics WD.
  10. Some bullet companies will take a large leg bone and put in a block of ballistic gel to see what they're bullets do when hitting bone. It takes a mean bullet in my opinion to keep going after hitting a big bone.
  11. I've got a Nikon Prostaff 2x-7x-32 on my .308 A Bushnell Sportview 4x 32 on my 8mm A Simmons 3x-9x -32 on my muzzle loader (cheap scope but it was all I had at the time and has worked for 11 years) A Gamestalker (was made by Simmons I think) 4x-12x-40 on my .223 A Simmons 8 Point 3x-9x-40 on my .22 (POS scope it wouldn't take recoil at all even when it was new but works on the .22)
  12. Your in my prayers, bud. Sorry for your loss.
  13. I've let 6 or 7 young bucks walk (maybe they're still alive) and saw a bunch of does. I killed one buck several days ago. The weather has been pretty crappy though. It seems worse this season than it usuually is.
  14. Wd, maybe next years hog season will be different. I think that they may change things next year or the year after. There's gonna be several more hogs next year......... Hmmmmmm.
  15. Yeah, thats how wal-of china mart has made it.
  16. I couldn't find him. I thought I might have but, not sure.
  17. Did you build that rifle yourself? What caliber is it. It and the deer are both nice.
  18. You should be able to find several different bullets in .224 at Midway Usa.
  19. If your gonna use it in only one rifle and it chambers good, go for it. Necksizing is way easier on the brass, just like you said.
  20. I've used 748 for years with standard CCI 200 or Fed. 210. All I see in loading manuals with 748 says use Magnum primers. I've never had any problems at all. Accuracy in .308 and .223 is good. Anybody else use it ?
  21. Yeah, it sounds like the A hole neighbor maybe set them up. Sounds like he needs a attitude adjustment.
  22. There's a S&R Guns in Algood but, I don't about their quality of work.
  23. Yeah, Garufa is talking about the importer marks that are usually engraved on the side of reciever or on the barrel at the end usually. Nice '43 Tula.
  24. Wd, a slug will definately do it. My uncle lived in Indiana for a while and used a Ithaca 37 with slug barrel and only used the old Rem. Slugger loads. After he moved back to Ky. he still uses them. They are sledgehammers.
  25. WD, I hope your doing better. Just hang in there and try and get out some and enjoy yourself.
