  1.   Butter knife perhaps, maybe even a spoon.
  2. Since when is Medicare, Medicaid, SS an entitlement? It is not an entitlement because we all paid into it. Welfare, on the other hand, is an entitlement because those who receive it did not pay for it. Pretty sure we all paid into it so we could have a retirement check later. I would have much rather had that money to invest towards retirement than give it to the government. Social Security IS our retirement that WE paid for so it is not an entitlement.
  3. I am a member of a local FB group that buys and sells guns. I have not seen any issues come up as of yet. There are some deals there too but you have to be quick on the draw. I missed a Marlin lever gun in 45-70 that sold for $300.
  4. The Academy in question has issues. Not that long ago I posted about the sporting goods counter not answering the phone because they were BSing. How do I know? Because I called as I stood there and watched how they acted when my call rang at their counter.
  5.   +1,000 There are some that no matter what happens they must have day to day drama to make it through the day. They constantly bitch about anybody and everything just to make themselves feel better. I guess because they are so miserable in their own skin that they must try to make everyone else around them feel the same way.     Integrity in a business is what makes a great business. If you lie, cheat or steal, like CTD and now Academy, to get ahead then you should not be in business. And if you are one of whose who thinks it is OK to lie, steal or just be an underhanded crook to get ahead then you don't deserve anything but a 8x10 cell for the rest of your life.   That brings me to something I have said over and over again. David, DLM37015, has more integrity in his little finger than 99% of the businesses operating these days. He is honest, knowledgeable and does right by his customers 100% of the time. And not only when people are watching but when no one would even know. I have seen him make a problem right even when it wasn't his problem in the first place. And why does he do this?, because he cares about his customers and considers most of them friends. And this sense of feeling welcome by David, as well as being taken care of, is what makes his customers come back. We are all exclusive members of a club called "TGO" so if he wants to pass a deal on to the members here so be it. Plenty of businesses, like Sams and Costco, do it so no one should be condemning David for trying to take care of our community. I promise you will not meet a nicer guy to do business with and he consistently has the best prices anywhere. I have known David for about 8 years now and have never heard or met a customer of his that was unhappy.
  6. I have plenty of 22lr. I have not been looking for 22lr for a couple of years now because my interests have changed. I do shoot 22 from time to time but it is a lot cheaper for me to shoot 300 Blackout. It is even cheaper than pre Sandy Hook prices.   As far as legality it depends. If they are not paying income taxes on their new found wealth then they are in fact breaking federal law. I would love to see those who don't pay their taxes on the ammo they sell go spend some time in FPMITAP with a rather large cell mate.   The site has the ability to flag there for a reason and one of those reasons is for over priced items. If I think something is overpriced I flag it, be it ammo or guns or anything else one that site.
  7. I have always said the person should be regulated and not the items. If a person can legally own a firearm they should be allowed to own ALL firearms.   And as far as who can, and cannot own, it should be broken down by violent behavior and not felony vs misdemeanor. There are plenty of non violent felonies that prevent people from owning a firearms. If a person is violent they should not be allowed to own a firearm even if the crime is a misdemeanor. And even if they have served their time they should not be allowed to own a firearm for life if they have been convicted of, or plead guilty to, a violent crime. Now if someone is arrested for and the charges are dropped it should have no bearing on whether they can, or cannot, own a firearm. Only convictions count.   As far as mental health goes they too have to have a history of violence to be denied and not the medications they take. There are plenty of people in NY that are now disallowed from owning firearms because they were prescribed certain medications. And just because someone is prescribed certain medications they should not be barred from owning a firearm. I read the list of medications and was surprised to see that if you were EVER prescribed Benadryl you can no longer own a firearm.   Anyone who is convicted of providing a firearm to someone barred from owning a firearm should also loose their ability to own a firearm for life.
  8. I bet the heads of PETA members are about to explode because they can't figure out if this is wrong or not.
  9. As much as I hate Pelosi I would like to see actual proof she receives $591k in retirement benefits. I suspect t it is a lot less.
  10. Let me know how you like it. I have been looking at one in 223 to convert to 300 Blackout.
  11. I will take Lionsfan's word it happened.
  12. I bet the stylist will sue the govenor now because the sylist lost revenue by refusing the serve the govenor. I seriously doubt the stylist will just let it be. I bet she will find some sort of reason to file a lawsuit against the govenor, the state as well as anyone else she can blame. I would love to see the govenor sue, using the wedding cake case as a precident, the stylist and geta judgement. I say fight fire with fire.   With that being said this is what is wrong with the county, everyone suing over stuff they should not be sued over. And those that are suing know that if they loose the court case they will not be held accoutable because they have nothing to loose. Personally I would like to see it where if someone sues and it is determined to be frivolous then the plaintiff should be required to pay financially and if they cannot then they should be charged criminally for fraud then be tossed in jail. Maybe when these "nothing left to loose" types start actually loosing their freedom they might change their attitude.   I recently read a story about a guy who had filed dozens of suits against businesses in a shopping mall hoping to get a win in one. They were all thrown out but he could not be held accountable because he nothing yet the businesses he tried to sue were out thousands upon thousands of dollars to mount a defense. He even told the businesses he would settle for less so they would not have to go to court. Glad all those businesses stood together and fought. His plan from the beginning was to try to get a business to settle out of court so he could get a pay day. They were frivolous and he made up the allegations but he was not held accoutable in any way shape or form.
  13. Locking this down.   Ok guys. I let one LE bashing thread slide a week ago and now the flood gates open again. This is the third one in a day that   It appears the OPs sole intent is to show LE in a bad light which I will not allow. Head on over to copblock.org and post it there.   Second, it doesn't involve Tennessee or at least have a tangential connection to the firearms community. It is nothing more than a "hey look at this bad cop" post.
  14. Rather than sell a brand new "Battle Worn" offer to use and abuse someone else's gun for a small fee. Think of it, some pays you to use their gun and abuse it in ways you wouldn't do to your own.
  15. It isn't stainless barrels but the Armor Alloy barrels from what I have read. I have several factory SS barrels and they all fit fine. I have not had any Armor Alloy barrels. Foam ear plugs are required with short barreled 223's. Adding head sets help but it hurts if you only use the head set. Again, I am trying to figure the dates when rifles became an option. Before that date you are clear to have a rifle or pistol as long as you don't make an NFA item.
  16. Nothing interchanges between the Encore and the Contender from what I have found. I know for a fact the barrels, stocks and grips do not.
  17. Take a bench grinder and grind 1/8 off the short side. This does two things, first it removes the rounded end and second it leaves a edge that should help grab. You will likely have to tap it into the allend screw. Next I would do as Trekbike said and use a set of vice grips to grab the wrench as close to the setscrew as possible. Make sure the vice grips are as tight as you can get them. Then right before you decide to twist the set screw out apply heat. Apply the heat to the inside of the block to ensure no heat is applied to the set screw. Heat it enough that you cannot hold it. I would personally heat it up enough that spit on your fingers sizzle. If you have the wrench JB welded inside the screw I would just apply heat like above and try.
  18. It could be that the barrel's twist is just fast enough to stabilize the bullets at the higher velocity but not at the lower velocities. 3.8 grains of 310 is on the slow side. Out of the 4.5" barrel I bet it isn't going 675 fps. 4.1 grains isn't much better at probably 750 fps but it might be enough to stabilize it. This is why a chronograph is important because without it you are just guessing at the velocity. From experience the load data numbers rarely meet the published numbers in real life. And the published numbers of 3.7 is 719 fps but those are generally out of longer test barrels. That is why I suspect eh velocity is probably 675 fps.   What is the length of the bullet itself? Not the loaded round but the head.   I will see if it could be the stability that is the culprit. The twist of a factory 45 ACP Glock barrel is 15.75. Not too fast but definitely not as fast as some.
  19. I think I am going to steal your lapping tool method. Seems easy to make and would definitely work well. I have a few Savages that I will try this on.
  20. What, the primers?   Small pistol and small rifle are identical as far as external dimensions. As long as your pistol will ignite the small rifle primers you can use them instead of small pistol. A 1911 hammer generally has enough energy to ignite small rifle primers. I do know that Rugers striker fired pistols generally do not have enough energy to ignite small rifle primers 100% of the time. And if I remember correctly Glocks also have a problem igniting small rifle primers. My Taurus 24/7 in 9mm ignites CCI400 small rifle primers easily. I use small rifle primers in everything, all my pistols ignite them fine and all my rifles ignite them without issue as well. I have not tried Tula small rifle magnum yet in the Taurus yet so I am unsure if they will work but the 1911 ignites them just fine.   With that being said make sure to follow normal reloading practices. IE, start low and load to the velocity you are looking for. You cannot rely on primers for signs of pressure because small rifle primers take more pressure before they show signs. As long as you are using appropriate powder and within the velocity range for the cartridge you are safe. Even using small pistol primers in a pistol is not a guarantee you will see pressure signs before something bad happens.  I recommend a chronograph to anyone who is reloading because it is such a critical tool in determining safe, as well as consistent, loads that anyone who reloads one should have access to one.   Now large pistol and large rifle do not interchange. If you install a large rifle into a pistol case it will not be flush and if you try to chamber they will not chamber. You also run the risk of the primer going off as it is being chambered and any out of battery ignition is very, very bad. And if you install a large pistol in a rifle case it will be too deep for a primer to ignite the primer in most cases.
  21. Buy a new splitter.
  22. 4.2 grains is MAX according to VV.     Yep, that is all I use anymore. I have probably 1K of small pistol and about the same of large pistol. I prefer small pistol because I can use small rifle primers. Eliminates the need to buy large pistol to shoot 45 ACP.
