1. Yes, Steve Anderson is the Davidson Co. CLEO. Yes, I filled it in on-line then printed it. Don't forget to put an X in one of the boxes on #14. You can't do that on-line, so do it after printing. I forgot to check it and the ATF sent it back to me with a little note on it. No big deal. I checked it and sent it back in. Delayed it about a week or so overall. My license arrived last week, so now I need to get copies out to Brownell's, Midway, etc. Good times!
2. Next week the son will be doing some engraving. That might be cool to see. I've never seen anyone doing that before.
3. They were left overs from one of the Top Shot challenges that Discovery got on the cheap from History. Look for some exploding targets soon. Oh wait....nevermind. The wife is too old to be anywhere close to as hot as she thinks she is. But she either had a good boob-job surgeon or the best push-up bra ever made. I feel like a dirty old man when the daughter is on screen, what with me drooling over her Colt Commander and everything.
4. Discovery - Mondays at 10e/9c Yeah, especially since he then had something to see the insides of, made the adjustments, and came out spot on perfect for the 2nd one. I wonder how much of that is him being himself, and how much is for TV. It's pretty boring to watch if he walks in to the gun room and says "'Em are sum nice guns. I'll give ya 20 grand fer 'em". Part of the show is why he's paying 20 grand for them. But they can cover that in a one-on-one interview then edit it into the negotiation process, like they do on Top Shot with the interviews mixed in with the competitions.
5. What I didn't get was that dude loaded a duffle bag with cash, hired a chopper to the ranch, then only bought 4 guns? In the shop he sounded like he was going up to buy the whole collection. I know he may have tried to get more and then it could have been edited for TV running time, but it just looked silly. I'll try another episode or 2, but I don't know that this has much staying power.
6. Guns, ammo, and a PM to piercedan if you're eating. Everyone who's eating, bring a little something to share so we have something besides the meat. A pack of Oreos, a bag of chips, stuff like that. I'll bring a folding table or two myself along with plates, napkins, and forks.
7. Granny had better restrict it to non-slug shotguns then. The charts below are all assuming the optimal conditions with weather, elevation, and angle, but you'll get the general idea. Except for .22 short all rifle rounds travel a good deal farther than 1000m. In the right conditions, .22LR can go over a mile. http://www2.huntercourse.com/tennessee/study?chapter=3&page=8 As do handguns except .25ACP and maybe some other small calibers not listed. http://www.info4guns.com/graphics/handgun_range_distance.gif Slugs go way out there too. Check the chart at the bottom. HunterCourse.com
8. I just called Charlie to give him a heads-up. He said "ya'll come on!" Let's plan on eating at 12:30, so arrive accordingly. If you're just shooting, then probably around 1:00. Membership is $40 for the year and includes as many visits as you can manage and covers minors that accompany you. It's the best deal anywhere. There's no time limt per visit. Just leave when you're done or closing time, whichever comes first. The CHMR website says it's $40/person, but one of Charlie's range officers told me it covered the whole household when I brought my wife once. You'd probably want to ask Charlie himself to know for sure. $5 per person for non-members, who must be with a member. There will be plenty of members there (me included) who you can say you're with if you think this will be a one-time visit for you. Just hand Charlie a five-spot and tell him you're with the TGO group. He's easy to find. It's closed on Thursdays now, but the site doesn't mention that. <<from the CHMR site>> Range Schedule The range is open 7 days a week year round opening at 8AM Monday-Friday and at 9AM on Sundays. On the first weekend of the month, the range is closed in an effort to aid noise reduction for the neighborhood. Range closing times are as follows:

January 4:30 February 5:00 March 5:20 April 6:30 May-August 7:00 September 6:30 October 5:30 (5:00 after time change) November 4:30 December 4:00

9. The cause seems to be that when the JHP passes through the clothing, bits of the cloth/fabric get jammed into the cavity on the front of the bullet. That makes its shape closer to FMJ than a JHP, keeping it from mushrooming out as much.
10. It's not penetration that's a problem. It's expansion. 40 cal will not have a problem getting through winter clothing. The Box O' Truth #8 - The Rags O' Truth - Page 1
11. I think this guy shoots handguns on the weekends at Stones River.
12. Yeah. That doesn't make sense at all. If that's the policy, how are they supposed to put the holes in them? edit: fer spelllin'
13. This, boys and girls, is why we need to know the difference between there, their, and they're.
14. Guns and Leather is pretty well stocked in them at the Greenbriar location too.
15. Since the OP said 70-100 mile rides, I'm going to go with "no" on that one.
16. Let's plan to use the lower range so we have more space and have longer shooting lanes. I'm thinking we'll get the picnic setup around 11:30/11:45 and eat at 12:00. Then get shooting around 12:30. BBQ sounds like a good idea. Easier than grilling too. There are a couple of picnic tables at the lower section, so we'll have a place to setup. Now we'll need a head count of people who will be eating. I'm in. If there's not enough interest in eating together, we can always kill that and just shoot.
17. It looks like the 15th at CHMR is shaping up to be our day and place. Do we want to try to get the upper range and get the grill and do some hotdogs, or just stick to the lower range for more space?
18. nicemac, are these the permanent painted lines? I know when they resurfaced I440 several years ago they used some kind of tape that didn't stick really well. It ended up looking like something from a Dr. Seuss book. Then when they finally finished everything else they came back and removed that stuff and painted real lines.

20. Could you work an M203 onto it? Maybe some flip up front and rear sites.
