  1. how you describe carrying is legal. i have my registration and card under an old garage door opener on the visor so there is no reaching in a glove box. id take the course for the permit. an unloaded gun is a useless gun.
  2. i agree on the no gun allowed = no money from me, but i have emailed the awful waffle many times quoting the TN law on placement of the signs and the exact wording that must be used. there is a gas station a mile or so away that has the old sign, saying it is a felony to carry a handgun on property where alcohol is SOLD or SERVED. that law was changed years ago. it was some "hey buddy" guy and i informed him about the sign being incorrect and he looked at me like i was an idiot. i then emailed the city councilwoman for the district the store is in and i have not heard a word. also ran into a liqour store a few weeks back, and was openly carrying and the cashier looks at me and points at the sign on the back wall of the establishment saying the same thing about firearms on property where alcohol is sold or served. i looked at the sign, then at her and replied your sign is wrongly posted and incorrectly worded. you need to get on the state website and make your self very informed on the legality of what your attempting to enforce. i then stated to her that she needs to tell the owner that the sign is invalid, no one can be arrested unless they refuse to leave upon you telling them no guns allowed, blah blah blah to make it short and sweet, the cashier knew when i left that the sign was wrong and so was the place it was hung.
  3. it took me about 6 weeks to get mine in the mail. its one of the best things i have ever done. i love riding around with it on my hip. open carry has not been an issue either. have not had one LEO say a word.
  4. it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get the permit after you file the paperwork. i had a small snafu slow mine up from a court case in the early 90's. seems the dates of the offense in question were showing up different. all i had to do was goto the courthouse and get certified copies of the judgements and send them to nashville and i got my permit 10 days later. i looked at the issue date of the permit and it was printed 3 days after my documents were sent and rec'd by certified mail.
  5. it does not matter what you carry, as long as you have a permit to do so. i qualified with a Glock 36 .45 6 shot but i carry a Glock 33 Sig .357 10+1 they just put what you used on your sertificate when you pass the gun safety class.
  6. and about the permit, if you pass the background check to purchase a pistol from a dealer, you will pass the background check to obtain the permit after you meet the state requirements.
  7. it took me about 6 weeks to get my permit. i got it in the mail this past January. there was a small snafu with the background check, and i had to do a little legwork at the courthouse. seems there was a date conflict with a minor incident in my past. the federal background check read july, but it was april. i obtained certified copies of the documents (free at the courthouse) and sent them next day to nashville, and i had my permit a week later.
  8. just wanted to stop in and say hello. i frequent a few Pro2A sites, and this is another one that i will be scrolling around in.
