  1. my pit bull in the front yard deters alot of miscreants. he will come unglued at anyone stepping foot anywhere in the yard. he gets going, and then the neighbor a few houses down has a rott and it gets him going too. there arent too many problems around here. alot of young punks in the neighborhood and i made it well known that when i moved over here that i own a gun and if anyone wants to see how good it shoots, get caught screwing around on my property.
  2. very easy. dont make the mistake and take your mags loaded, they will make you unload them. when i did my course, i used 100 rounds of ammo. 50 for practice and the rest for the real deal. take the gun your most familiar with and on average, the class lasts 8 hours (supposed too anyway, depends on how often people cry for a break) so in other words its gonna burn up an entire day. pay attention and your all set. the test is so good i promise a 5th grader could take it and pass.
  3. we have covered this before. an unloaded gun is a useless gun. do you think that if you had to pull that sidearm to defend yourself, do you really think that chambering a round will be at the top of your list? that could be the difference in being shot or being the one that is doing the shooting.
  4. just remember that as long as you continue to use your Georgia DL, that makes you a Georgia resident per law and you will still have to pay GA state tax out of your Tennessee paycheck. if you are going to be here for a period of time, get your paperwork straight. its far less of a headache if something were to happen. and yes, you can keep your GA CCW and get a Tennessee one too.
  5. gotta be the sig, hands down. that might be because i own the Glock 33 =)
  6. here is how i see the "registration" of a firearm. technically, Tennessee does not require you to register a handgun that you lawfully own. stop and think about this process. you want to buy a gun. fine. you goto the dealer of your choice and complete the paperwork needed for the BAFT and FBI background check. you pass the instant check then goto the counter to pay for your selected items. the last 2 guns i have bought have been from a dealer, therefore the make model and serial number of the gun i bought was all on the receipt, and the store copy went into the federal files with your background check. so lets say 3 years from now, you sell that gun to a friend and he sells it to a friend and then the 3rd party gets his home broken into and all valuables are stolen along with the aforementioned handgun. he files a report, blah blah. lets say the gun turns up 6 months later at the center of an investigation involving a shooting of a government official. what is the gubamint gonna do? run the serial through. the serial goes to mom n pops gun shop and the feds then ask who bought this? they tell them you did, and now because there is no real record keeping on the buying and selling of any firearm. stupid huh
  7. my 33 did this very same thing a time or two right when i first bought it. my problem was from limp wristing the weapon. i changed my grip and all is good. all 4 of my mags have extentions. 2 of them have hte +1 and the 2 new ones i just bought online last week have the +2 that i had to install myself. that took about a minute to do. the only other quirk i have had with the 33 was the last time i was out shooting, me and the Gf were taking 2 clip turns. i have been working on her with her grip, as the 33 is a monster for recoil. she was limmp wristing it so bad that the recoil of the slide actually made the slide lock retention pin slide to the right side inside the weapon, letting the retention part of the spring on the internal side of the run go limp, therefore failing to keep the slide lock down. it would fire a round and lock open. would not close by manually racking, but pressing the slide release , it would close and fire then hang back open. it was the damnest thing and i didnt know what was wrong with it till i got it home and started taking it apart to see what had broken. realigned the spring and reset pin and all has been good. these smaller glocks are bad for having these little annoying characteristics. a police officer that works with me part time helped me alot with my shooting stance, and since then, my firearm problems related to weapon holding have gone away.
  8. i would keep my mouth shut and keep on doing what works for you. i would also look into a mounted locking box so you could leave the weapon secured. imagine if your car were broken into and your handgun was stolen.........................
  9. what they dont know wont hurt them. im not saying its alright to break a policy, it is just a personal choice that some people choose to make.
  10. get used to it. the pervs and illegals are everywhere. i read a stat that said by 2013 we will be a minority in our own country if we do not do anything about the illegals. sorry for trolling off topic. im just glad that the TBI takes the time to research each applicant therefore we wont have folks out there like this carrying guns.
  11. i have no idea about chattanooga. i would think it would be ok only if it is not posted and ok as long as you dont go through the metal detectors. dont do that unless you have the Glock 7 that punk used in Diehard. hahahaha
  12. supports a national bill against concealed carry. f-c-i-g moron.
  13. i will say one thing about the sign............he is VERY opinionated and is not scared to share his thoughts. none of them offended me personally, i thought they were quite hilarious.
  14. me thinks that tom petty isnt sounding too hot singing free falling atm..............
  15. made it to round 7 with 44,700 points. missed the last target by about 5 velocity points =( i bookmarked that link hahahaha
  16. it would have been better if they had been nude LMAO
  17. http://wrcbtv.com/news/index.cfm?sid=2402 i guess he thought that he could get elected and pretend that he was Jefferson Davis Hogg. money laundering and providing a police service weapon and badge to a convicted felon are just a few of the charges the FBI has on him. this kind of information is scary, and i have heard of similar things like this in the past and thought to myself, nah that would never happen here. well guess what............it has.
  18. http://www.chantix.com/content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp?setShowOn=../content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp&setShowHighlightOn=../content/Chantix_Branded_Homepage.jsp one of the guys at work went and got this stuff. its supposed to be the best out there for people who want to quit. his wife got on it too. she quit in 6 weeks, and has been clean for 3 weeks now. he stopped this past monday afternoon. it works by blocking the receptors in the brain that "get off" on nicotine. im calling my doctor when i get my tax refund and im going to give it a shot too. i personally know 3 people who have been prescribed chantix and have quit. the downside to this stuff is about 150 bucks a month and most insurance policies do not cover it, but hell, the average smoker spends 3 bucks a day, 30 days a month, so that is a pretty even trade. if the medication is as great as it seems, then it does not matter what price it is. the health reward for quitting is priceless.
  19. the internet change is the best. i cant believe you would have to fill out the same damn paper like you were applying for the permit the first time, but that is the crap that governments are good for. while we are at it, why doesnt TN change the permit to expire with your DL? thats stupid. why not make the car tags expire on your bday too while we are at it? sorry, im opening up cans of worms =) edit: and you can thank the wonderful dept. of homeland security for the birth certificate clause. when i applied for my hcp, i had to have mine too and i had been licensed to drive a car in TN for almost 20 years. that tells me that they cant even trust the ID that the DOT made.
