  1. here is a copy of the email i just sent him. dear Mr. Naifeh, id like to get right to the point. why do you put a stop to every pro second amendment law that the people of Tennessee try to get passed? you have been in a political position for many many years now, and im sure you have seen the statistics the shall issue states have as far as crime and how permit holders behave. the numbers speak for themselves. the most bothersome thing is that when this is brought up, and im referring to gun permit holders being allowed to carry into establishments that serve alcohol for on site consumption, the media and everyone else makes it out to be what it is not. it is referred too as 'Guns in Bars' and this sickens me. all that would need to be added is make it a felony to drink and carry in a bar. it is that simple. the law abiding citizens who went through the background checks and time to get the permits would have no problem honoring this as a felony as you know, revokes ones right to ever own a firearm ever again. isnt that motivation enough to let it pass? if that is not enough, then add a must be concealed provision to it. even though Tennessee allows for open or concealed carry, make the law in this case that your sidearm must be concealed. that would be no problem for myself or anyone else that i know who has a permit to carry. the issue will never go away, and if you still think that it is a bad idea to allow this to pass, look at Virginia's statistics on handgun carry. in this particular situation, Virginia mandates that if your in a place that serves alcohol by the drink, you must carry OPENLY. the entire concealed idea means that, its concealed. out of site, out of mind. there was an issue here in chattanooga about 2 weeks ago in a bar. a patron put a gun to the hostess' head and told her if she didnt sing 3 more songs for him, he was going to kill her husband then her. you fail to realize that criminals know where the honest people are most vulnerable, and that is in gun-free zones. criminals do not care what laws you pass and what ones you turn down, criminals care about nothing. the outlook on that is very cloudy. i refuse to go out to eat in town because of the nazi style laws i have to abide by. what would i do if i was at dinner at for example, Red Lobster, and someone came in with a gun and started open firing. the way the law is currently written, an off duty police officer is forbidden by law to carry in a place like this unless he is officially conducting his job. what constitutes this? someone entering with a gun shooting at everyone and everything. dont you think that the innocent bystanders deserve a chance? do not sit there and think that this would lead to vigilante justice, because it isnt. the police can not be everywhere everytime when needed. that is the reason i choose to have my gun permit and i carry it. enough said. the way i see it is typed below. an unarmed man is a victim. an armed man is a citizen. and a quote i saw in one of my forums that i hang out in, says this and this pretty much sums it up and i will type it here and let that end my letter. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy. R.S.V.P. if you want too. Rob Bodenbender TN HCP Holder Chattanooga, TN

  3. yeah, we will see if it passes. i hope it does but im not holding my breath. park carry needs to be addressed as well. its one molehill at a time though. then we can work on the mountain.
  4. takes a real man to pull that one off.
  5. i have found that wallyworld is pretty reasonable with ammo prices. im not sure about other walmarts, but the one close to me has all types. .40 .45 9mm 357 sig and mag, 38, 22, 7.62x39 all types of shotguns shells, and no telling what else. most are winchester and a couple are remington.
  6. yeah i think its a neat little toy. thats about it. it could get you in some serious trouble.
  7. thanks mousegunner. unfortunately, ammo prices keep me from going there as often as i would like.
  8. 200 rounds of that ammo costs me 80 bucks at walmart.
  9. If your ever in Jackson Tennessee, you can swing by MaxxGuard Security on N. Highland Ave. and pick one up for $55. just thought id pass that along. i found it on another forum. the only thing i think should be added to it is it should say Tennessee Handgun Permit Holder.
  10. my wireless network is as follows. BEFCMU10 Linksys Cable Modem WRT54G V8 Wireless Router D-LINK DSH16 10/100 auto sensing 16 port hub the modem is plugged into the WAN port on the router. my sons PC is directly into the router on port 1. my DLINK hub is plugged into port 2. then there is another computer in the apartment behind the house (same property) that is connected via wireless. i am running the wireless with the pre-shared key setting with mac filtering enabled. i can accept20 hard wired clients, and 50 wireless. the 16 port hub was a freebie item from where i used to work, so that is mounted to the side of my desk for an instant internet connection to any computer that i might be working on for myself or someone else. that is nice to have. no running wires to the router to get updates and all that jazz, just clip it into the hub that is 2 feet from me. i run with the router firewall on, UPNP is off, https access for the router is off, and all uneeded ports are locked down. i dont use any software firewall at all. software firewalls are resource hogs. if someone wants in to your system, they will get in.
  11. good luck. california gun laws are controlled by a Gestapo style government. add DC, WI and IL and NYC to that list too while we are at it.
  12. what scares me is i dont know if you all read story on msn.com the other day about the experimental DLs. michigan and california are 2 of the 4 states participating in the test. the test is inserting RFI chips in the DLs and any equipped police car, border patrol or what ever can scan the license with the chip up to 30 feet away. i suspect that they are testing this to stop ID theft, but the chips can be manipulated too im sure. give it time. so if they do that for DLs, who is to say that gun permits wont be done that way too. it looks like it is an attempt to go with a national ID, and god forbid that happens, as we do not need the fed government in control of gun permits.
  13. i asked an LEO about this very situation. her reply was its nice to inform, and used the scenario of its 3am in the morning, your going down a dark road and get stopped. we converse, and i ask you to step out of the car and into my headlights for better visibility. she said, what if your legally carrying, and you have not told me that and as you exit your vehicle i see your weapon. what is going to happen next? i have long said show it even if you arent carrying. its simple. plus, in the above situation, it might save you the pleasure of looking down the barrel of a service weapon. what she said made perfect sense if you stop and think about it. as soon as your stopped, you have the perfect chance to tell the LEO that your legally armed. you do not know what call the officer just came from, and its possible that this officer that has stopped you may have had a gun involved in a traffic stop before and it could have been a bad outcome. please tell them. it has gotten me out of a few tickets.
  14. yes, TN honors ALL handgun permits.
  15. all the instructors suggest is shoot with the gun your going to carry. in other words, if you have never shot a .357 from a 6 inch barrel, and have only shot a .22, your in for a big surprise. recoil is alot higher. i qualified with a .45 and had no problems, but i was used to my weapon before i had to shoot it in the range. TN residents who get the HCP are lucky, the caliber of the gun does not matter. there is one state (cant remember what one) but what you qualify with is the one your allowed to carry. there is like a max of 3 guns for you to have if memory serves. i cant remember which state that is. there is no limit on the number of guns you may own either, nor a limit on how many you can carry on you once you have your permit.
  16. strickj may remember this story. about 2 years ago, there was a guy who ran a small independant root beer stand. it sold hotdogs, ice cream, hamburgers, etc. the man running it was in his late 40's to early 50's. what got him in trouble was he had nothing but teenage girls working there. one of them got in trouble, and he spanked her bare naked ass and took pictures of it all red. seems that he made each of the girls sign a piece of paper saying if they messed up and got in trouble, he could spank them and take pictures. the FBI tore him apart. not sure what happened with him, but i do know he went straight to jail without passing go.
  17. the laws were written in the early 90's when legal carry was just starting to catch on. remember, the politicians feared that the streets would run red with blood, therefore they were not sure how legally armed citizens would behave. they thought it would be the old west with shootings everywhere. our job is to get these bleeding heart liberals out of office, and get some people in there that know what the hell is going on. statistics speak the facts. there has been no mass shootings by permit holders, as a matter of fact, you all know it has been proven by the stats that states with RTC laws have alot less violent cimes. look at DC, New York, Illinois and Wisconsin..........alot of bad things happen there. why? gun free zones, yet the governments wont let the public do anything to defend itself. vote the liberals out.
  18. i had a 36, hated it. too many FTF and FTE with it. didnt matter what ammo i used. the G36's are referred to as the bastard glock.
  19. i had a Glock 36. notice i said HAD. FTF and FTE were a nightmare with that pistol. it was really bad on feeding. it would jam up all the time. it didnt matter what ammo i used either. i shot remington and winchester and blazer and another type through it and it always jammed. probably 5 jams out of 100 rounds. i got rid of that piece of junk. i now know why they are called the bastard 45.
  20. at wallyworld here, 100 rounds of 230g winchester fmj for the .45 is 29.99, 100 rounds of remington 230g JHP for .45 is 36.99, 50 rounds of winchester .357 sig 124g fmj is 21.99 and the foety and 9mm are the same price as the other quotes. my wallyworld even sells .223 carbine and 7.62x39mm rounds too.
