  3. As long as you renew before your expiration date, you can continue to carry with your old HCP and the recipet that shows your applied for a renewal even after the expiration date on the old HCP. They should explain this when renewing your HCP. From Handgun Carry Permit Frequently Asked Questions Question 5 and
  4. That's what I was wondering. We don't think about it here, but in many states property owners can't post or posting doesn't legally mean anything.
  5. Unfortunately I was unable to change my schedule. Hope all went well.

  8. If she really thought guns that dangerous you'd think she'd be advocating not having one period, not simply leaving it in the car... If wasn't so law abiding and would never recommend vandalism, I'd suggest someone make up a sign that said.... So some unpermitted thug can break into your car and steal your gun and use it to commit random acts of violence. And stick it below the Guns are dangerous sign.....
  9. Here is the law that passed. (Only includes what was amended) Here is the law as it was. All the new law does is really add a (3)(A) and a (3)( under ©

  11. Well the state is getting less than they used to then. When I got mine back in 97 the did do the fingerprints at the DOS but the cost of the HCP wasn't any less.
  12. May not be exaclty what you are looking for, but www.handgunlaw.us has a lot of that info.
  13. cool.....good luck!
  14. Also just a note...as you may already know...the certificate for the class is only valid for 6 months...so don't want too much longer.
  15. LOL....not necessarly Just meant I think it means they haven't put as much thought into it as the places that have taken the time to actually post a seperate sign.
  16. To be honest...I've never thought "No Firearms" being listed as item 7 on a 12 items rules list as posting. At least not in the same sense as posting a sepereate sign, correctly worded or not.
  17. I think you're right about it depends more on 2A council members more than what the citizens say. I have thought about that...and I'm afraid you're right. If a city spends hundreds or thousands (depending on the size of the city and number of parks) on signs.....I woud think they would raise all kinds of heck if in less than a year or two they couldn't opt out and have to allow carry and take down the signs.
  18. Why in the world am I not thinking of things like this and getting rich?!
  19. Thank you Nikki.......

  21. That is what I think as well. You have defenses and exceptions. A defense is just that, as said it is a defense to breaking the law. Exceptions mean that if you fall within the exception you are not violating that law. Like having a HCP is an exception to carry in a park 39-17-1311 and in a restaurant that serves alcohol 39-17-1305. However having a HCP is a defense against violation of 39-17-1307 That is why in TN if you are OCing you will probably be asked for your HCP by a LEO. Because as far as he knows you are violating the law until he sees your HCP. Of course in states where OC is legal without a permit, it is a different story. You are not violating the law and have nothing to defend yourself against and should not be stopped by a LEO unless he beileves you involved in some other crime.....or he just wants to say Hi.
  22. May try a search, lots of posts and a few threads on this. But here are a couple that may get you started Approaching Local Government officials about park carry? Approaching Local Government officials about park carry?
  23. Sort of have to hand it to the guys from Chicago. Almost can't blame them for some reaction, but doesn't sound like they overreacted.
