  3. Good question. Unfortunately you could probably ask 100 different people and get 100 different answers. Not sure if there has ever been a court case on this or not.
  4. I know an Order of Protection does, but not sure about a Restraing Order. The trouble with the way the question is worded is, the HCP database woulndn't tell you if they had a gun, only a permit to carry.
  5. Looking good so far....and I remembered to copy and paste the link
  6. I 100% agree...but I can almost 100% promise you that is not going to happen after watching the sub-committee meeting today. Even Rep Tidwell, the bills sponsor, said he meant to remove the wording about local parks from the bill. So I was just trying to come up with some sort of alternative. But I do see your point that there are many ways to just step into a park and not necessarily through an "entrance". So not really sure what the answer is.
  7. What happens sometimes, is a webmaster can tell what page you came from to get to their page. So it could have showed that several people were coming to their site from this one and they may have thought the results would be skewed. Although I don't often remember to do it either, it is always better to copy and past a link into a new page when going to vote on a poll instead of clicking the link in the post.
  8. No, but a slight hint as to it's location on the page would be very useful.
  9. If it is a entrance to the park, whether it is the main one or not, then it should be posted if they want to prohibit carry. But I guess it is just easier to leave it as illegal for local parks.
  10. I couldn't either...
  11. Welcome
  12. I agree, it's not the best, but it would seem the alternative is going to be no carry in city/county parks period. At least this way you might could carry in those places. As far as signs go, that is why I suggest that signs would have to be posted to prohibit carry. Also, I think it is fairly easy to tell the difference between a state park and other parks by looking at the entrance sign. But as I said...my first choice would be the bill as it was introduced, but doesn't look that will happen.
  13. I have heard back from Rep Sontany. She simply said thanks for the suggestion. But at least she did read it and reply back.
  14. Maybe the will amended like one of the others said, to allow each local government to decided. Maybe something like to allow carry by default, but that each city or county government can prohibit carry in whatever park(s) they choose. Also to require a sign to be posted in parks where they want to prohibit carry. That way a city/county could even allow carry within some parks under their control (bike trails, camping areas etc...) and prohibit in others (baseball fields, soccer fields, etc...). Although I personally would like to see the bill pass in it's current form. But it seems it may not have the votes (and apparently not even the support of the sponsor) to allow carry in local parks. But with the way I proposed they could still decided for themselves? EDIT: Sent an e-mail to all of the committee members with my suggestion.
  15. Bills Passing: 0961, 0959, 0962, 0411, 0615, 0716, 0414, 0254, 0070 & 0516. All other bills rolled one week.
  16. Park carry rolled one week. Probably going to remove local parks
  17. Not yet...LOTS of discussion on the park bill.
  18. Even if the pill pass in this sub-committee, they still have to go to the full committee and then to full house. Then voted on in the senate. If they pass the whole process they would go into effect July 1, 2009
  19. Not yet.... There is a bill (HB0390/SB0578) in the legislature that would allow those with a HCP to carry loaded long guns in their vehicles.
  20. Welcome
  21. If they are loaded....Yes, IMO
  22. That is my understanding as well. From Wikipedia...
