  1. Welcome
  2. Congrats....
  3. I have to agree, I haven't found TFA to be much help. They have a message board and there is very, VERY little activity on it. The amount of post here in one day are more than they have in a month or more. I do wish there could be a politically active group with the amount of members and activity that TGO has. Oh...and if there is ever such a group it would be better to discuss HCP issues not CCW....
  4. http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080417/NEWS01/804170304 Signs down....ban still in place. Maybe I do need to go find a book?
  5. Welcome
  6. http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080416/NEWS01/804160312/1002 So they have a no gun policy, but don't want to post the signs to enforce it? I know some think that places that post improper signs are still pro carry, just trying to appease insurance company etc.... But to some degree I think those places and places like the library (have a no carry policy, but don't want to post a sign) are trying to have their cake and eat it too. They want to be anti-carry without appearing to be so. Guess we'll see what happens after the 3:30 meeting.
  7. Welcome
  8. That is not correct. Your HCP info is attached to you Drivers License. If you'll notice they are the same number. The check that a dispatcher does to check the status of you HCP is actually the same one done to check you DL. When the info comes back there is simply one field that says Gun Permit Status..and it has a Y or N. This is even if you never had, or will never get a HCP. It will just say N. Now when your tag is checked the info from that can be taken to run a DL check and the officer would know if the registered owner of the car has a HCP. But that doesn't mean the owner is driving the car. Also it wouldn't mean s/he is armed. I had my HCP for several years before I carried on a regular basis. Also....it is the Department of Safety where you go to get your HCP. Tags are handled at the local County Court Clerks office.
  9. Welcome....
  10. ....and it's legal. As long as they have your pemission.
  11. Welcome
  12. According to Rule 1340-2-3-.05(8) of the Department of Safety - Handgun Safety Program a person as young as 16 may take the class. So hopefully some of the instructors on here in your area will invite you to a class soon. I commend you on your eagerness to get the ball rolling on this and hate that you've had to wait to you were 21 instead of 18.
  13. Welcome

  15. Nah...didn't offend me....I just tend not to be hard on folks...lol Wonder what the production cost would be on "Revenge of the Mall Ninja" and who we can get to star in it?
  16. It has been suggested....didn't meet with a warm response for whatever reason.
  17. I agree in general that a badge won't help you. But I think what Flyboy was trying to say is....You are in whatever crowded environment you're in....you hear a gun shot, you take cover and draw. The BG comes your way and is about to shoot someone right in front of you. You take aim and prepare to stop him.....about that time the police come around the corner. This has all happened, quick no one has called 9-1-1 with a description, you haven't had time to call 9-1-1 to report your presence on the scene. How does the LEO know who's who? Hey "may" take into consideration you have taken cover and the BG is out in the open, but he may not. I think what I would do if I saw the LEO come on to the scene and it was where I safely could I would put my weapon down, remain behind cover and show him my empty hands. But what if I didn't see him? What if he is in plain clothes and for whatever reason didn't announce that he was a LEO. It's really one of those situations there is no good or right answer.
  18. Big Black Dog ???
  19. Welcome
  20. I admit I don't like the fact that Republicans voted for Naifeh. But, and I admit I haven't gone back and looked at the vote, I think Naifeh would have still been elected even if none of the GOP guys voted for him. There was supposed to be a more moderate Democrat to run against Nahifeh that all Republicans were going to vote for and enough Democrats to elect him. But for whatever reason he dropped out. As it was said in another post, the vote for Speaker is not secret, so Nafieh knows who voted for and against him. I have heard that if you vote against him it is all but impossible for that Rep to move a bill through, have a decent committee assignment etc.... So right or wrong that is probably what was on these guys minds when they did that. My Rep is one of the ones that voted for him. If I see him out and about somewhere I will ask him, but not going to through the state e-mail or phone system to do it.
  21. Sounds like a good trip....
