  1. Is there a list of these rules somewhere?
  2. I didn't even know there were rules to OC. Of course in states where OC without a permit is legal and CC is not...then yes, if I didn't have a permit, I'd be concerned about what legally considered OC. I also agree if you OC you should be very comfortable with it. I really don't OC, but have no problems with those that do. Also IMO, improper CC can cause more attention/trouble than OC.
  3. I think once the ticket is written or charges made, it is in the hands of the DA not officer or his department anymore. I assume the LEO confiscated the handgun. So one reason I'd want to go to court is so the judge could order the return of the handgun.
  4. Sounds like not much else to do right now, but to wait for Ms. Knight to get back with you tomorrow and then go from there. Hope it was just some clerical mistake somewhere. If it turns out that it shouldn't have shown you as revoked I'd ask her for a certified letter stating that your permit is valid and explaining what happened and take it to court and that should be enough.
  5. I'm sure that it is different from state to state, but agree it must be quick it seems. I've been watching Alaska State Troopers and it seems if it isn't the very first thing out or your mouth there could be a problem.
  6. I agree they don't like to be surprised...but them running your DL and finding you have a HCP shouldn't be a "surprise" or even coming back and asking you if you are armed (since not everyone with a HCP carries 24/7) and you saying yes, shouldn't be a "surprise"...at least not to me. A surprise would be them actually seeing your firearm without being informed first, if it is well concealed, this shouldn't happen.
  7. Yeah, after getting more info etc... definetly post it back in the other sub-forum. I admit, I might be a bit anal on that sub-forum sometimes in trying to keep the post more uniform etc....but my own fault for getting behind in watching it and finding time to go through them all.
  8. Don't guess I ever really look at any place with the explicit intent to see if they are posted or not. The law says the posting is supposed to be "clearly visible" so I guess I feel I shouldn't have to search hi and low for it. That said, places I usually go, I don't really look unless I notice something different. As Bender said, if I go a place I don't normally go or haven't been in a while I'm more apt to try and pay attention to anything on or close to the door/entrance.
  9. Well I'm glad he was armed and it was actually on him and not just in the store. Also kudos for moving toward the threat trying to stop it when they first came at him. That being said...not the best discipline I've seen afterwards, but I have never been in a similar situation and can't say for sure I would do any better after having been shot at, so I'm not really going to fault him much. As far as him still shooting as they ran...IMO the thugs were still a threat as long as they were still in the store. They could have easily turned and fired again. Now if he would have pursued them out of the store, that may be a different question, but that isn't what he did. Glad he he survived the encounter....
  10. There is no "official" position as every Law Enforcement Agency is different in the state as well as the individual officers that work for each Agency. It appears that in the new DOS video shown during the safety class, that they suggest handing over your HCP with your DL. What you do is up to you. For me it depends on the situation.
  11. Explained as well, if not better, than I guess I should have done when I moved it. The Carry Prohibited Locations Sub-Fourm is really supposed to just be for notifing of posted locations for a searchable database and not for discussion and commentarry etc.... as laid out this post http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/carry-prohibited-locations/41564-faq-how-sub-forum-works.html Keeping meaning to go through and clean the whole sub-forum up.
  12. Done
  13. Not 100% sure, but maybe Utah I think. Utah Criminal Code 76-10-505.5 specifically allows carry on campus if you have a permit. ..and according to Handgunlaw.us "No Guns" signs do not have the force of law in Utah unless they are at places that are already off-limits by law.
  14. They are automatic no carry zones, but they are supposed to post that they are federal buildings per federal law as well. 18 USC Sec. 930(h) United States Code: Title 18,930. Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities | LII / Legal Information Institute
  15. Agree...on boths parts...
  16. My understanding as well.. If someone says, "I'm going to go (kill/shoot/f'up,etc....) so so" then you could charge them. Otherwise even though they've said those things...their carry of an arm is still legal and would be harder to do anything about.
  17. Interesting... But I'd be willing to wager that unless you are actualy engaged in the "legal activity" or it was EXTREMELY obvious you didn't intend to armed, you may have to "tell it to the judge". But definetly a good read.
  18. I want to ask for pics.....but then again I don't.
  19. What kind of trouble do you think you would/could face? As long as you are legal, there shouldn't be any problem for you?
  20. Where/how exactly do you base "intent to go armed" as meaning for deffensive/offensive purposes? Seems many on here have searched for a legal definition in TN law (case and codified) for the term and haven't come up with anything. Also my opinion of the "Incident to" meant while actually engaged in the activity, not the before or after. Otherwise how do you know any of those activities has anything to do with the possession? I mean otherwise everyone could just carry a handgun then and say they were on their way to or from the range.
  21. What it boils down to is possession....who was in possession of the weapons? If any gun was on someone’s person there is no doubt that person is in actual possession. On any weapon in the passenger compartment, it is the constructive possession of anyone that can easily reach it. As far as what would happen, it is pretty much like DaveTN said...every officer is different, so there is no way to say for sure what would happen.
  22. I just don't understand how people think. With the posting...it is just as much against the law as it was before the change....so what exactly is the guy wanting? ....and if it wasn't a gun he could have hit him with just about anything else.... A single individuals ignorance doesn't bother me as much as when the infect others with it that either aren't smart enough and/or informed enough to have a position of their own.
  23. Been a long time since I did it...but I don't think it'll take over a week or two at most.
  24. I have had good luck and service and Parkway Gun and Pawn.
  25. Actually I think Mglass1045 is right. I have won several auctions by bidding an odd amount of cents on the end. In the above example I have even bid 1.78 or 2.03 to beat the ones that may only go over by a penny or two...and it has worked. I think the bid increments is just a minimum the bid can be increased by and what the automatic bid increase uses. At least that has been my experience anyway.
