  1. I’m continually amazed at how people can distort the Bible to this degree. He and his supporters clearly haven’t read it.
  2. He actually seemed to call himself black Jesus if I understood it correctly.
  3. Pearson actually seemed to do the same thing. Granted I haven’t heard him speak much outside of the latest videos, it does seem to be somewhat of a show.
  4. When we were building our house back in 2016 (West TN) this was laying in my driveway as I was walking back. I assume this is an Alligator snapping turtle???
  5. It’s hosted by Double Tap Training Grounds in Calera. Looks like they have a pretty cool indoor shoot house.
  6. There are still spots available…. It’s more expensive due to John teaching but I’ve just decided I’m ok paying it to scratch my itch to meet him.
  7. I am signed up to take the Warrior Poet Society - One Man Room Clearing class in a couple weeks. I’m a bit of a John Lovell fanboy so am excited to finally take a course taught by him. I’ve taken instruction from his lead trainer Paul Perkerson in the past so if it’s anything like his instruction, it’ll be money well spent. I’m curious if any of you have taken this course or others from WPS and would like to share some thoughts. Heck, maybe one of you is also signed up for this one. Getting to simulate fights with sim rounds is probably going to be rather eye opening.
  8. So QoS is basically preset to three levels of priority from high to low.. Gaming, streaming, normal. You can set each device to one of those three. That’s basically the extent of QoS. The guest network is fairly simple as well. You can leave it on or choose to turn it on for a set period of time. This is a pretty neat feature that’s quickly done in the app. It also has HomeKit enabled with a recent update. It basically pairs the router with the homekit hubs and provides different levels of security for those homekit IoT devices. The only device I have that falls into this category is my Ecobee thermostat. Basically you can set it not allow the individual devices to connect to the internet, only connect to HomeKit approved services, or no restrictions at all. Oddly enough, if you enable the HomeKit integration, you can’t use mesh functionality. There is a dedicated IoT network option along with three other extra SSID’s available. I didn’t see the need for these in my use. Band steering is enabled by default and it also has router steering if you were to go to mesh later on. The screen is also a really cool feature. The information is of course boring but it manages to make download and upload speeds look cool and appealing. Truthfully, I think some of the other consumer routers may offer more network filtering and security features but so far the hardware of this router seem to live up to the hype. My I’m home coverage and speeds are definitely improved over the prior system and even more so better than the Starlink router alone. As I said before, I’m very happy with it but will most definitely be switching to Unifi at the next model release.
  9. Got the Alien in today. While the QoS features and guest network features are limited, they are good enough and it does seem to have much better coverage than my previous system without all of the handoff issues. Time will tell but initial impressions are good. I’ll still probably upgrade to the Unifi DM stuff once they release a new model.
  10. Yeah I actually tested it this morning with a bogus email account and couldn’t get the app to block with those domains. Apparently some have success with that approach and some don’t. I successfully blocked it in the browser though. The easy was to do it would be to visit it, look at the DNS logs to see what it requested, then block those as well. As you said though 25 wasn’t enough.
  11. Circling back to TikTok…. Have you had any success blocking TikTok through the domain using custom DNS like OpenDNS? I’ve added it to my current setup until the Alien arrives and while it works great for the browser site, I can’t seem to get the app blocked.
  12. Yeah if mine goes down (has only happened with power outage),I do what I can on the cell hotspot or take the day off.
  13. While I wait for a Dream Machine to come in stock, I decided to go ahead and order an Alien. Worst case, I can use it as a dedicated camping router or gift it to the in-laws if I end up replacing it with a UDM.
  14. Still reading, it I think the Unifi ecosystem is actually what I’m wanting. I’d hate to miss out on Wi-Fi 6 but it looks like the Amplifi series just barely has the advanced features I’m after.
  15. I’m currently searching for the full manual online now! Best Buy actually has them for $279.
  16. Man, that is seriously cool! I am looking for more advanced features for sure and am realizing now I should have my network better protected. When my phone friends come over asking for the Wi-Fi password, I can say “sure, but TikTok won’t work. ”. Alien it is!
  17. Nah I did have it in bypass mode when running the Motorola Q11 system. I’ve since went back to the Starlink router only due to some perceived handoff issues between nodes. I actually thought Starlink equipment would do a guest network and was surprised to find out that it didn’t. If the built in speed tests are accurate, I’m actually losing a good bit of data speeds through either the routers.
  18. Thanks for the info! I am also looking at the dream machines. I am working from home full time as well now. Starlink is my ISP so while my speeds aren’t super amazing, I do feel like I could benefit from a quality router. Also, having QoS and guest network capabilities are growing more important to me with the limited bandwidth. All of the friends that came over to watch the superbowl ended up watching TikTok and bumping my 4K stream down.
  19. I've also wondered if a lot of my issues with the previous router were more to do with devices not switching nodes consistently rather than and actual issue with the message system itself. One single, more powerful router would hopefully alleviate those issues.
  20. I'm kind of of thinking if I'm gonna spend over $400 for a router, I need to go ahead and find a Wifi 6E capable model. They are all just so ugly......
  21. Nice! I haven’t even thought about just using a single unit. I only have a single story 1600 sq ft area. The Starlink router does a decent job but loses some strength in the extreme corner of the living room. The Alien is priced decent enough as well.
  22. A comment on another thread has led me to reevaluate my home network. I’m currently using a Motorola Q11 mesh router system pulling internet from my Starlink modem. The Starlink router functionality is fairly basic and lacks some features I’d like. (Guest Networks, QoS, etc). To my knowledge, the Q11 sends most of my info to a cloud server that holds all of the settings. Does anyone have recommendations on a mesh router system that is less dependent on a cloud server? Maybe that ship has sailed…..
  23. Thanks for that. Pretty much confirms all the things I’ve always wondered. I was actually considering ditching all of my IoT stuff yesterday but mainly because when the power blinks, all of my smart lights turn on and wake me up. The settings are supposed to revert back to the prior state before an outage but they don’t. I guess they need to be on so they can report back when the power grid is back up………
  24. I’d love to hear more on this. Maybe in PM to not derail the thread. If you are willing. Apart from guns, I like playing guitar and am just starting out with amateur photography. I’ve bought some nice photography gear that is a couple years old and “outdated”.
