Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
maroonandwhite replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
My brother in law picked up 4K small pistol primers for me yesterday. Local store with no purchase limit. $90 per 1000 so that hurts but that will take care of my USPSA habit for at least a year. Seems like Winchester is about all that’s out there but at least they are out there. -
Timney Glock Alpha Trigger

You are probably right. The only alternate connector I’ve ever really cared for was the - connector. This is my first dot connector though and it’s not too far off. I’m sure I can get by with it in IDPA but may look into something else once I get classified in USPSA. I’ve been shooting the slower of the two sports for years and am ready to jump into a little more speed. -

I think for now I have decided to just learn the stock trigger better. While I’ll mainly shoot this one in matches more than I’d carry it, I’d like to have the option. This means not turning it into a full on gamer. It’s also rather eye opening to see how many national champs or high level shooters there are that won titles with a stock polished Glock trigger system. Different topic but kind of the same….many are teaching that slapping the trigger is not bad. Now that I can see my point of aim with the dot, I kind of agree. With a proper grip using plenty of power, I can just pull straight through the trigger ignoring the “wall” and that dot doesn’t move much more than if I were working the trigger in a more traditional manner. -

The reset was the one thing I was worried about. I keep seeing that come up as an issue. Thanks for the info. -
$17ish a box is the lowest I’ve seen for 9mm but that’s aluminum case. That’s probably somewhere around 40 cents a round after tax. I’d pay the upcharge for brass if it were me and save it. Good time to buy a reloading press as well. I see people dumping them for multiple reasons. MAYBE I / we will get another shot at stacking components deep.

Has anyone used one of these in any generation? I’ve built a 19X out that I will likely be using for competition and am wondering if it’s money well spent. I’ve always disliked the mushy feel you get from a minus connector or any of the other brands. With this being a different type of mechanism, I’m just wondering if it’s worth it. I know that’s super subjective but think more along the lines of competition and not SD. This gen 5 stock trigger isn’t bad, I’d just prefer a shorter, crisper break. Which is what they advertise……..

I remember that feeling. It’s like, “really??? It’s that easy?!?”

A 4 pound jug comes out to $212 out the door. Not the best price but cost per round for me is only 1 cent more than what I’m currently loading. For those that got caught with their pants down like me, well….. at least it’s a great powder.

I’ve become a big fan of Tenicor holsters lately. The Certum 3 in particular. I am currently carrying my G48 in a Certum 3 with no weapon light and will shortly be adding a G19X with a MRDS and possibly a TLR7A to the rotation. I’m trying to decide between the standard and light mounted version of the holster. I know all holsters are different for each person but am wondering if any of you have opted for a light mount holster in the AIWB position and regretted it. The obvious width difference is mainly what I am worried about as I like to wear mine around the 12:30 position rather than centerline. I’m afraid the light portion would make uncomfortable contact. I do carry a flashlight separately but have always wanted to add a weapon light into the mix if possible. I’d be perfectly content without it though. What say you?

The in-line fab roller handle is really nice as well but definitely not needed. I had one previously but get by just fine with the knob. I’ve thought about buying the riser, trays, etc but usually get by fine with the box of bullets on one side and the bucket of brass on the other.

I think you’ll love it. I sold the first 550 I had several years back and regretted it. I have the new 550c and won’t be getting rid of it anytime soon. It’s a good middle ground between single stage and something like the 1050. Post pics when you get it built!

Thanks. I actually saw that before and really want to go. Won’t be able to make it work unfortunately. Looks like a really great resource. -
That’s pretty sweet.

I have that “problem” with the Katana. So much functionality that I’m not using. I’m really just wanting a couple of knobs and some tubes.
-
Bumping this one back up. I’m passively looking at tube amps and am curious what you fellas are using. My eyes are on a Vox AC15 right now. Blues Junior being a close second. All I have at the moment is a Boss Katana 100. I’m mainly getting my sounds from Ableton with a few plugins. Sold all of my pedals last year and also have to itch to get more.

Barrel Change on Ruger American

I’ll be using this in a deer blind and brakes have never been friendly to confined spaces. I have started wearing ear protection when hunting without a suppressor but still, it can get loud. Having never fired a round of 6.5 Creedmoor in my life, I don’t really know what to expect apart from ballistics. -

That’s pretty snazzy. I may look into that once I shoot it a bit and see how it does. I can’t imagine I’ll need any sort of recoil reduction from a brake but it would be cool to increase accuracy any little bit. -

I think the suppressor was always going to be somewhat of a bonus on this gun anyways. With 26” of heavy on the end plus another 9” , it’s just not too practical. I may just put the cap on it and call it a day. I don’t feel like having to deal with poi shift anyways. Certainly looks better to my eyes without a flash hider. -

Not to my knowledge. I’ve seen many online that have it converted to direct thread or to another more common style of QD. I think AAC moved to a 80 tooth design or something like that. They just stop making these. -

I wish! This AAC 51t adapter is like a hounds tooth. And $150+ if you can find them. I’ve seriously considered selling both of the flash hiders I have and using the proceeds to fund a conversion to direct thread. -

Basically in the picture showing the threads, it is just started on the threads. One concern is that I won’t have many threads engaged. The other concern is that on the flip side of that those threads will be exposed inside of the flash hider. -

Barrel Change on Ruger American

Got it mostly put together. Waiting to get the proper wrench so I can torque the barrel but got the headspace set correctly. Only issue I ran into was on the muzzle device / qd for my suppressor. The barrel is thick enough that the flash hider wont clear the shoulder. You can see how much thread I would have if I just bottom it out against the shoulder. This would also leave the flash hider threads exposed internally. Would this be cause for concern? -

I’m now anxious to see if these scope rings are going to allow my scope to fit on the new barrel. They fit on the old profile but it’s gonna be tight on the m24 profile. I bought the Talley one piece lightweight mounts in low but if they don’t fit I’ll probably go ahead and buy some nicer rings and use the stock pic rail. I had plans to get a 20 moa base and seekins rings but they are backordered. My barrel is currently sitting in Memphis waiting to be sorted by the USPS. Oh joy.
