Had a scare last night...
maroonandwhite replied to wadejjet's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well that's it then. I'm gonna try it and see. I guess I always just thought that ON meant everything stayed on. Know that I sit back and think about it I feel kinda stoopid. -

My dachshunds have learned every noise in the house so they don't bark at the creaks and such. They go nuts if something is out of place though and will wake you out of the deepest sleep possible. -

That's interesting. I have never heard this. Not saying you're not right just never heard it. Would that not lend to early failure of the fan motors or anything? -

On a side note I hate those filters creaking after the heat goes off! Our vent is right outside of our bedroom door and that thing still wakes me up sometimes with all that loud popping. Hard to believe how much air is actually moving through that thing. -

I think you did the right thing. That's what I would have done.As others said if your entire family is already in the room with you then stay hunkered down and call the cops. You tip the odds closer to 50/50 when you go out looking for him as he could be anywhere in the house. In your bedroom you know he has to come through that door. -

Pics or it didn't happen. haha. I can never get my iPhone to load up the camera quick enough to capture moments like these. I would imagine it would have to be something government related in order for that to be ok. Just a plain jane 18 wheeler?

TSA allows knives on planes... what to buy?
maroonandwhite replied to jgradyc's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
My question is why would you even want a knife that small on an airplane anyways. Doesn't sound like it would serve any good defensive purpose (had a case toothpick close on my finger one time) and I don't think they let you whittle. I mean I don't have a problem with it by any means and don't want to sound like a liberal by saying "why do you need this, that, etc". As others have said though I wouldn't go spend any money on it. But if I were I'd get on ebay and get a cheap one. -

Do want....and it's big brother. -
How are you guys maximizing your practice ammo?
maroonandwhite replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Training Discussions
Thanks for that link Prag. I have some dot targets left over from a class I took but they didn't have the training listed on them like that. It makes good sense to start and end with those. More than likely I will just do that and the beginning then just do some draw and fire on the silhouette from different angles. I recently saw something on the sportsman's channel about using ammo boxes (or any box) to make a "3D" target and then draping an old tshirt over it. It makes sense to train for a 3D target as opposed to a flat piece of paper if shooting from different angles. -
Define the "something" that has happened. Did the folks above South Korea invade? Zombies? EMP? That will determine most of the responses I think.

That's pretty cool. May have to try my hand at those.

Yeah I might make a rifle strap pretty soon. I have seen a few different ways to do it but I just gotta figure out how I want to do it. Those monkey fists sure are time consuming. Took me an hour to figure out how to tighten the thing up.
-
Yeah I don't expect this to be a money making venture or anything. I am just getting into it honestly and figure I can make a little ammo money while making some cool stuff for friends and family. If I can sell one or two from every roll of paracord I buy that will at least pay for my paracord habit. I'm just ready to get home and try out Caster's idea. I have been contemplating making some type of tow rope for a while now and just haven't got around to it.

I can attest to this at the Collierville location as well. Their is a line of 4-5 folks every morning that snag most if not all of it. My wife's coworker went to get her oil changed around lunch time today and called and told her they had some 9mm in stock which means they had to have put it out later. Either that or it didn't sell out this morning (unlikely). Being the good wife she is she took her lunch break and went and bought 3 boxes! I was verrrry excited! It's kind of sad actually to be excited over ammo. :squint:

Good deal. Thanks for all the info guys.

Well if she posts pics please post them up!

I had toyed with the idea of doing rifle slings but since it wouldn't be adjustable it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Military surplus store is where I get mine.

Great idea caster. I think my target audience mostly wants them for looks but I am going to make one when I get home for myself and see what folks think. I wasn't really planning on selling them on here as I don't know how that would go over not being a vendor and all that. I don't want to go through all of that as I don't want this to become a "job". It may also kill the profit margin and/or "cheapness" having to pay $5 for flat rate box shipping. I don't have a problem selling you guys a few though if you want something. Paracord is $7 per 100ft length here locally so once you figure in that, the cost of the buckles and "labor" I thought they were pretty reasonable prices. The wife actually sparked the idea. I made her one then she just had to have 3 or 4 more colors. I figure I can make some of the local college colors as well.
-
I know the market is saturated with any paracord product you can think of but I enjoy making them and am thinking of selling some of the following items locally. Let me know if you think my prices are pretty reasonable. I will be making them with the real deal 550 paracord and using plastic buckles with the metal ones as an option. Bracelets- $5 for regular weave. $6 for King cobra weave.(double the cord.) Keychains- $3-5 depending on size and pattern Dog collars- $7 for small dog $10 for big dog. I would probably do a double weave or "King cobra weave on these so they would be twice the paracord. Crosses (necklace, rear view mirror ornament, etc. -$ 7 Surprisingly I have received a lot of requests for some of these from my wife's coworkers (bank) and older relatives. Must be the current climate that has folks interest peaked in "survival gear". What do you guys think?

Been by there many times. I have been tempted to just go lay at the gates and beg here recently haha. -
I can't even imagine the level of intelligence that the people who signed this petition possess(or lack). Not only is is just plain disrespectful but to pick THAT song and artist rapper/singer is just icing on the cake. I'm sure these are the same folks that want to change the constitution as well. As others have stated before, the movie "idiocracy" is coming to mind. Heck we may be in the early stages already.
