when you do the pin, take it OUT of the gun. It could be peened up inside from the fat part of the pin hitting the narrow part of the sleeve. It could also (this is much worse!) be hitting inside the chamber --- the pin face (the business part of the pin) and the chamber will both be peened in that case (this is bad, get it replaced as was stated). While all but the worst of that can be fixed by anyone with a little polishing, if you paid new gun price, take it back. If you got a floor model discount, you may have to bust out polishing compound.

My review of Tactical Response: Fighting Pistol
Jonnin replied to Sandman's topic in Training Discussions
That is not the reason, its the glock mentality. The instructors favor glocks and do not respect anything else. I would take the cost of a refinish job out of their fees if they made me do this to my guns. I will be quite happy to throw THEIR gun on the ground however. I know my guns will not go off if I take a sawsall to it and hack off the barrel crown. I know it will not go off if I take a dremel tool and carve "glocks R teh shiz" in the size of it. Pointless damage to your gun is pointless and proves nothing at all. The rest of it sounds pretty useful, but I distrust instructors that favor one brand over another, one manual of arms over another, or the like. It would be difficult for me to take this class seriously at all if the instructors were making fun of functional weapons constantly. -
Hah my roomie had a .22 in the dorm too. In 1994. I told him it was dumb but he said if he left it at home his brother would do something dumb with it. No one ever found it and he never took it out, it was just stored deep in his stuff --- I only knew it was there cause I saw it on move in day.

I was on the leading edge (before the changes, in other words) in the early years. I remember a big debate on how the school was going to put more emphasis on the works of women and minorities .... in pre civil war american history class. Now, I am not going to argue or defend this statement, its just how I see it.... women and minorities have done a lot of good things in our country, and they matter in history.... but to give them "equal time" when discussing an era that was dominated by white men is 100% idiotic. The contributions become rather far fetched and stretched just to get the classroom time in.... its like a hiring quota or something. And this stuff has leaked into every disipline. When I was supposed to be learning how to write software, I remember we spent at least one full day on Ada. Ok, she was cute, and very bright, and important. But the class was not on the history of writing software, it was on writing software. They added that to make sure we knew that once upon a time, one woman did something in the discipline. The book had notes on other folks (mostly white men, of course) that we did not stop to talk about or waste a class period going over. In other words, Ada gets more time in the classroom than bill gates, steve jobs, and seymore cray combined. And you can flame me for saying it and call me names, but if she had been black I bet we would have spent a week solid on her life and works.

I also have a lot of respect for him. But there is no hope for him on this topic: he is a black man of the 60s, who lived through the racial crap of that "peace and love" era, and will be scarred from that generation for the rest of his life. And he is not wrong, not entirely. I know **I** would not follow a potentially armed thug around my neighborhood (closely, I might stay way, way back and keep tabs on the person's loc) unarmed and certainly would not get *close* to said potential enemy. I would not do it while armed either: GZ did a stupid thing by following and confronting the suspected person. And we all see where that led: not good. I would have to say, that with no apparent victim of suspected violence, going into seek and destroy mode over a questionable person all by yourself is a BAD PLAN. Even if GZ got attacked and was justified, he still did something dumb, what if the kid had had a gun, or even a good knife as close as they got? Nothing against the deceased here, who was clearly unarmed, just "what if" for similar scenarios and I can't come up with a rational reason to get closer to a suspected criminal, armed or not! Bill is wrong to call for disarming citizens, but he is right that an armed person has a certain boldness, a certain mindset that can lead to stupidity. He is right that police call for backup regularly if there is a potentially armed suspect on the loose. He is dead wrong that people carry guns to kill people. That is out of line. He is basically calling all armed people, including the police, murderers. What Bill is not understanding here is that GZ made a series of poor choices. The gun did not make these choices, its owner did. Most other gun owners (at least I hope this is the case) would *at the most* have followed the kid from 100+ yards off in the car, quietly, and let the police handle it. Most others would not get close to a potentially dangerous person. Justified or not, GZ behaved like a moron, IMHO. The gun did not make him act like a moron. I fully believe that this guy would have done the same stupid crap if totally unarmed, up to the point of the shooting, at which point the 2 would have beat each other senseless. And all this was over the questionable fashion statement of a hoodie.

its collectable. As in, there are people who collect them. There are also people who collect bottle caps, rocks, and all sorts of other fairly common stuff. Anything and everything is collected by someone. If it is a typical example it is probably worth in the neighborhood of $300 or so. If it is all original with matching serial numbers down to the stock and all, it is worth researching closer to see if it is more rare. These guns were exceptionally well made. I would not be afraid to shoot them with modern ammo if research indicates that you can do so, and after letting a gunsmith check it out. It has a great deal of good steel in it.

Not only are these sorts of books filled with bias, the students are required to take indoctrinating classes under any and all courses of study. A student could be trying to learn engineering or physics or chemistry or whatever yet forced to take garbage classes. I had at least 1 entire semester's worth of pure garbage. Lets see, stuff I was forced to take... -- african american literature (it was not too bad, really, but much of the writings we studied were social commentary disguised as a story). -- philosophy (liberalism 101) -- overview of religions (except, nothing biblical allowed?! ) (choose this or evolution studies AKA anthropology) there were one or 2 more, some sort of psych class that I cannot remember much about except it was classical junk like fraud and other nuts. Some sort of "ethics" that had nothing to do with ethics. Now, remember, all this was required to get a degree in computer science.

Everybody tells me how important it is to vote....
Jonnin replied to gregintenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Told us what? 100% assured: 4 more years of obama will be the SOS (worse, because in term 2, he has nothing to lose anymore). Only 99.999% assured: the GOP loser will be just as bad. But there is a chance things could improve...! Of course, there is a chance the GOP guy could make things worse, somehow. Start another expensive war, or do another bailout, or something else stupid. Romney could even sign off on gun control or obamacare or something goofy. With any luck he will pick someone with some sense for the SC, but even there, since he is anti-gun, he cannot be trusted. He will likely pick "moderates" who cannot be trusted on any topic. Ugg. -
The only way you will see an alternative grip on the SR is if someone else does it first and ruger copies it. Its a niche product that is very popular for young shooters & women, and even men with smaller hands. Its good that someone offers something this small. But I doubt anyone makes a bubba sized version, it would just be one of many in a large, crowded pool of products at that point.
-
I have shot the SR it is a good gun. It is too small for my hands, no matter what I do the trigger is too close to the grip. If you have small hands, you will love it. If you have long fingers or large hands, you may not like it at all. Other than that one issue, I would own one, it felt good, shot straight, didnt jam, a good gun all around and a great gun for a small hands person and really good for kids or smaller women.

I guess if you fill the case very full you could compress the powder and get some pressure, but I would think a 223 would fall into the case before you could seat it deep enough to really spike the pressure with many powders. Not really sure, I know there is room for a bullet inside the case with my load data (ask me how I know ) Note the above chart is really in 1/10s of an inch, so I stand by my comment that a few hundredths is going to be a tiny pressure change unless at the extremes.
-
I think you can get a static IP out of comcast if you pester or pay them enough. This would take going at least 3 deep in their help/support line (passed off 3 times to higher skilled people who know what they are talking about).
-
while this has been beat to death, a practical answer to a simple question: no, seating a 223 less than 3/100's up or down will not require you to change the load data unless ARE doing what others said and jacking the bullet into the rifling with the change. If you are sticking it out that far, and do not have a good reason, DON'T. If you are doing it on purpose, knock 15% off the powder charge and work it back up.

Mcminn county sheriffs gun auction April 7 10am
Jonnin replied to z90HD's topic in Events and Gatherings
Heh, sorta glad I did not go. I don't get on too well with sun & heat, and gas & high prices to boot. I feel 100% better about my weekend. -
Thats why one of my ARs is a pistol, its legal on HCP should I ever feel that threatened. Unlikely, but that base is covered.

CZ kadet for a DA/SA design that is like a cz 75. Very accurate and eats every ammo tried so far.

are you absolutely sure its a 38, and is it a 38sp or 38 s&w? Only B I found was a 32 caliber (?) Only letterless SNs I found were 5 digit, not 6. If it started with 8 instead of B it would be 8K1234 or something like that. Striking out on this.... If its 132XX and you typed an extra x its a 1931 best I can tell (??)

hate crime: noun. A crime committed by a straight white man against anyone who is not a straight white man.
-
that looks a LOT like the old colt army 38 S&W (not 38 sp) model. If its not one of those (and it isnt, its not colt), it evolved from it directly. confirmed: its one of the early s&w k frames and it is directly modeled off the old colt pistols. I think I found it: K104,048 – K136,690...1951 is it a k serial?

Arrr! I think you can, no country owns the seas, who is to stop you? Thinking of loading up a cannon with ball bearings?
