Sportsmans warehouse has reloading supplies, but their cast selection is hit or miss. There is a nice reloading store in ft oglethorpe (north ga reloading) but its only open a few days a week and hard to get at. I like the MO bullet company, which sells over the web and is inexpensive, they are my favorite source for cast bullets. Missouri Bullet Company --- page 2 the one called softball is what you want I think. They have amusing names for their different rounds. $47 per 500 currently.

That is correct, you can have BP relics without any permits or anything else, they are considered to be too much trouble for the serious criminal. As for keeping them loaded, I used to do that as well, but then decided that if we had a fire nothing would survive it. So the ones in my safe are unloaded now and no ammo stored in the safe (a few magazines loaded and nearby it though), while the ones around the house are all loaded and ready to go. I think we have 6 loaded ones around the house. Not that I need 6 at once, its to have 1 in every strategic area, rather than try to reach a distant one in a situation.

post the pics. Yes, its fine. Doubly so if you just want an ID rather than a value.

The ammo does not matter at close range. That sounds like flinch for sure. Most folks will say a 1911 45 has low recoil, but I let 2 friends try mine this week, both sort of novice shooters who mostly shoot .22, and they both said it had a lot of recoil. It can be hard to get over a flinch, the noise and recoil combined are significant to someone who is not used to it. The best thing to do is to try to get past it mentally, by not thinking about it. Focus your mind on holding your breath, holding the gun steady, lining up the sights, gently pulling the trigger without moving the gun, standing steady and properly, etc. You should be too busy thinking about other stuff to be thinking about the noise or recoil, and soon you will become used to both and it will be a non-issue. Every time you flinch, replay the shot in your mind and tell yourself that the recoil was not bad and the noise not too loud.

Yes, but "A housing unit is owner occupied (including acooperative or condominium unit) if someone whose nameis on the deed, mortgage, or contract to purchase lives inthe unit" --- that 70% includes ME, but my house is not owned yet, its still being paid for. It depends on how you define "own", I call that rent - to - own.

^^^ what he said is great. Also, get a poster board or a large man-target or whatever. You have to know where you are hitting to improve (for example, are you making a tight "group" 3 feet to the left, or no group at all?). If you do not want to buy a laser sight, you can get a laser bore sight for practice or mount any old cheap laser pointer device to your gun, with say some tie-wraps. The point is how much the laser pointer moves around as you shoot, try to hold it still. Buying a set of expensive laser sights just for practice isnt necessary. I desensitize myself to my 1911 by shooting a 44 magnum for a while. Its like going from a 9mm to a .22, all of a sudden the recoil seems mild, the noise level low, the gun is lighter, and all around it seems to make it easier for me to shoot the 45. That may not be an option if you do not have a bigger gun, but it does help some.

I would say as many as 50% of adults are not living in their own home, though that is a strange term... do you own your home? The bank owns mine, and I am on a rent-to-own program for the next 10 years or so. How many live at home or school off mom & dad, how many in an apartment (rent), how many in a trailer (rented or do not own the property it is parked on, etc), how many homeless, how many have a home but do not yet own it, etc? How many live in big citys in projects or govt' provided housing? How many live in nice apartments or homes at a heavily reduced rate due to state laws that ensure a % of low income people are allowed to rent in nicer areas? I do not know, but here again, it wouldnt be much of a shocker to me if the numbers show that very few DO actually on their home and the property that it sits on.

Now that is an interesting approach to what makes a good gun. Hey, my cz82 was smaller, about the same weight, about the same capacity, equally reliable, and 1/2 the price of an XD... Kidding aside, where are you going that you see a number of premium 1911s? I rarely see anything more than the typical stock stuff (which still costs 2x what your XD did). I also do not see them jam all that often; the true premium stuff at competitions does not jam (and they put 180 shots thru them at the events). I had a jam at the last one but mine is not a high end gun ($1000 or so including a small amount of work), and I think its a cheap magazine problem.

welcome! I am looking hard at a colt defender, or the new agent, or an STI rogue, just savin' up and keeping an eye out for a used one... sounds like you havea fun collection!

Well, the law of averages kicks in too. It will always be as you said... if the low end of the earning folks make $1 million a year, your hamburgers will go up to $5000 each to cover labor costs.... there will always be a hefty percentage of the working population who do low skill, low paying jobs and struggle to make ends meet. One thing about SS wages... by the time you draw it, your home and car should be paid for, your kids should be gone and on their own, and overall your expenses *should* be lower (but due to medical costs, often are not). A healthy retired person can do pretty well off a much lower salary than a 40 year old with 2 kids and a house payment and 3-4 car payments, is what I am saying. Hard work does not mean high paying, either. Its supply and demand of labor --- what can the person do that most other people cannot do that is of value to some company? That is what governs salary. Anyway, if you took every adult (over 18) in the country, it would not amaze me at all if 75% of them were making less than $15 an hour, including areas where low wages are beefed up for high cost of living.

I have 2 types of cleaning for this type of gun. The once a year cleaning is a full cleaning, the rest of the time I do the q-tip method. The q-tip method is to clean the barrel, ramp, chamber, breech-face, etc. areas to remove the majority of the gunk. Then I re-lube the slide (bolt?) and its good to go again. Thats probably a 250 round count, or round about once a month for me. It will run fine without cleaning for a very long time but it only takes 5 min to hit the high spots. Keeping the barrel clean for accuracy is the reason I do it so often.

Who got you started in hunting and fishing?
Jonnin replied to roverboy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Fished a lot with dad but hardly any hunting, doves a few times, and once where we didnt get anything. Still do not know enough about hunting to go it alone, but working thru the training materials and all this year on my own, hoping to go within the next year. -
The compromise they are discussing has "tax reform" as one of the listed items, which makes me think they sold out to increase taxes on someone, somewhere. They seem to be dodging that subject in a way that makes me think a tax increase is headed our way. If so, I predict a lot of turnover in the house next year.

any glock would do for that type of shooting --- let me strongly recommend a 9mm as the ammo for other calibers costs more and you will shoot up a box or more every time you go. Not sure what a 34 is, they all look the same to me apart from overall size which seems to vary from medium to huge =). Since they all share mags, you might get the higher cap mags (15+) for whatever you pick, I usually have 3 15 rounders for these events. Are you looking to spend big or keep it basic for the rifle and shotgun? IMHO a cheap semi shotgun with a high capacity tube is all you need, maybe a recoil pad, but nothing major. The rifle is the really big purchase/decision, its too much to go into in depth here but if you need a hand there are plenty of "ar" gurus here (I am an AR noob, really).

1) You need a slight crimp IMHO to avoid knocking the bullet deeper into the case when it feeds. I crimp with whatever came with my die set, its a lee taper I guess, not 100% sure but its enough to do the job. 2) I run the lee hand trimmer, so whatever length the case is after that stops cutting. 3) For what? I use whatever I can get cheap, 55 grains mostly for my 1/9 twist barrel. 4) I do not bother. What exactly are you going to be DOING again?? I just shoot mine. I mean, if its getting wet enough to misfire in your magazines or ammo boxes, you are either swimming or need better magazines and ammo boxes. If you are swimming with your AR, yes, seal your ammo. If you are just out in the rain, buy a plastic box to hold the ammo and magazines.

There was a rumor of people bringing in more hogs to run the hunt-property businesses. I think they want the hogs gone and don't want to encourage breeding or releasing them for sport.

DIY How to help on Weapon Painting (diamond camo)
Jonnin replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
That is very well done. Do/did you have any trouble with moving parts after the paint, like the safety, bolt, optics adjustment caps, etc. being clogged up or frozen with paint? Or did you protect those things somehow? -
its one of the 4 or 5 kel tec clones. With the price drop half a year or so ago, and the built in laser (if you care for that) its a decent pick now (was way overpriced). The trigger is hard to work and the slide is moderate, if your wife is weak she may not like those two things, otherwise they seem to be reliable and a solid choice. I strongly prefer the sig 238 as it is easier to use in terms of recoil, slide racking, and trigger, and rapid fire, but its not cheap. IMHO if you want a cheap 380, look hard at a makarov. Its similar but the ammo is much, much cheaper. Its bigger than the pocket 380s but still will fit in a pocket if you get the single stack type. I only say that since you mention price, if price is an object for the gun its going to be worse for the ammo on a 380.

Its not legal to carry it concealed, even unloaded. Has to be openly displayed, with no ammo that can be quickly put to use, without a HCP. Handing it off and having it carried the way he did is a problem, whether ignorance or up to no good, hard to say. Depending on how they behaved if I bothered to report it or not, they would have to be very "thuggish" in behavior for me to bother.

Welcome! Most folks mean Auto-rifle, defense pistol, defense shotgun when they say that, but most of the shooting sports have 2-4 guns involved so it can be confusing to say 3 gun (bullseye? cowboy? others that have 3?) or multi gun. There are official names of each sport but no one uses them. If this is the type you mean, local clubs will sometimes let you shoot a few matches with equipment that isnt usable for official scores (such as a .22 auto rifle or a smaller caliber pistol) to try it out before sinking $2k into gear for a sport you may not even really like. My wife and I got into this, and really like it even though we come in dead last every time.

You must have this blocked, or the new site, due to the migration, is no longer in your list of sites allowed to save them, or you beefed up security (IE is known to reset your security after a patch, as well), or whatever. The site keeps me logged in until I delete my cookies, which I do regularly, but this issue is 100% a problem with your local computer's settings or automatic cleanups or the like.

I started using my father's handguns at around age 15, and as he really did not like them (was all about rifles), I soon found myself in the yard blasting away on my own (this is where it became illegal), and I usually did that when no one else was home (common courtesy). The law is stupid -- besides, its already illegal for the kid to shoot anyone, rob, rape, carry the gun without permit (here I agree with the age law, that is different and requires maturity), and so on. The age law simply prevents youngsters from learning to shoot and enjoy the sport. That said, since the kid was carrying the gun around, there is a new problem (this would be the same if he were your age and you knew he didnt have a permit, its not his age, its the lack of permit and carry that are a problem). At this point you may have done something, if you felt the need, such as get the clerk's attention, write down their plate number and call the cops (hoping that after they left the store the kid had the gun again?), or whatever. Confrontation is pointless, it becomes a you said they said argument.

Not a great deal unless you do not like the glocks. I would do it for the pistols only, but wouldnt add any cash to that deal, but I do not like glocks or most plastic guns. One glock is the same as another, you could also do a 2 + cash for 1 and still have as much glock as you had to begin with.

Yes, changing the dress style > purse, and if she likes that model, ... choices are limited. The ankle holster or other parts of the body (how about that bra holster thingy?) are also better bets if she insists on the tight pants.

Its good, used to go to the one on gunbarrel but its long gone.
