  1. I have the IPad Air and I use it all the time now. Put all my equipment manuals on it and can carry it with me everyday. Also found that a $15.00 pistol case makes a dandy carrier. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. 97 wrangler (250k + miles and still going strong) and the wife drives an 08 Liberty. The Wrangler has already been through 1 teenage son, now my 16 year old daughter has laid claim to it. Maybe I'll get it back in a couple of years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I will not be surprised to find out that the Republican leadership is behind the leak. It appears to me that the GOP establishment is more afraid of Mr. Cain than the dems are.
  4. I've got a 17 yo son and a 13 yo daughter who love to shoot the Charger. I bought it about 4 years ago when the first came out. My son had never shown any interest in shooting until I brought home the Charger. We have a 100 yd range in the back yard with spinners set up at 25 & 50 yds and a 12" steel plate at 100. Both kids can make them dance, but my daughter can play a tune on that 100 yd plate. I don't really know the point of the Charger,(or many of my other toys) but it sure is a lot of fun to get out and see if the kids can outshoot dad. (they usually do!!!)
  5. Talk to the local TWRA officer. They usually get very interested in illegal dumping, especially if it involves a creek or waterway.
  6. It's a nice thought but it will never go anywhere because the state would lose all the $$$$ from the background checks.
  7. The way I see it, if the people want to vote someone OUT of office, there has to be someone to vote IN to office. Part of the problem on all levels of politics for too long is the lack of choices to vote for. I have felt for a long time that anyone who was smart enough and of good enough character to hold office and be an effective representative of the people who elected them was also smart enough to stay out of politics. Eventually someone is going to have to step up and be willing to go into office to do the things that are right for the people. Maybe the the best thing would be to do away with elections altogether, fill public offices like jury duty, just draw names out of a pool of eligible people. If people had to try and come up with excuses to try and get out of serving instead of spending 1000 times what the job pays to try to get the job they might do a better job. Yes, sometimes you would get folks that weren't as smart or as honest as other times, but it probably wouldn't be much worse than it is now. JMHO
  8. I did not see the need for the 17 HMR when they first came out. I always thought the .22 Mag could do most things better. A friend of mine bought one thinking it was the "be all-end all" yote gun, he believes everything he reads in magazine ads, the first morning I called in a yote in for him he shot it 4 times before I finally put it down for good with my .223. It is a nice gun and very accurate( I bought it from him), but I usually use it for picking off crows that are smart enough to stay out of shotgun range. The ammo is starting to get expensive(but what ammo is not?).
  9. I think a lot of these politicians are feeling the guilt of having their hands on the stick that poked and awoke the sleeping giant of the American people. They KNOW that they SHOULD be afraid for what they have done to our country. Just remember, anyone who dares to question what our leaders have determined is best for us is either racist, stupid, or a terrorist. Be very careful of what you say. and extremely careful of what you do. All will be used against us in the future.
  10. Now THAT'S FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Burn Notice Swamp Loggers Beck and O'Rielly
  12. 10:30 the ground is covered and coming down hard in Lawrence Co.
  13. 66-3 was produced from 1986-1994/ I have several 66's and 19's, I actually use a 66-2 2.5" as my daily carry gun. It's a little heavy but it goes BANG every time you pull the trigger.
  14. An agressive cat can be helpful for situations like this, if possible.
  15. I have the 9mm M43, like you I thought it was perfect for CC until one day I was shootng at the range and the firing pin broke. As you may or may not know Star is long out of business, therefore PARTS ARE EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND. I was lucky in the fact that I have a machinist background and access to equipment and was able to fabricate a new firing pin, otherwise it would have been a very handy paperweight. It has been reliable at the range with my homemade firing pin. but I DO NOT TRUST IT FOR CARRY. I have read many stories of broken firing pins on the M43, I do not know about the M40, but it is a known fact that the Firestar line did have a reputation for brittle firing pin breakage. They are nice pistols but I DO NOT TRUST MY LIFE WITH MINE. This just MY opinion.
  16. I have been a member for over 20 years. They do send some pretty nice stuff to test, game calls, knives, scents, etc. , and a form to fill out on each product. I don't get items every year, but probably 7-8 times over 20 years. One of the best member benefits is their magazine, comes out 10 times a year. they have contests and giveaways every month, I enter sometimes when I have time to. I won a nice gun case several years ago. All in all I would say that it is worth the dues just for the magazine. By the way, my wife bought me a life membership 18 or 20 years ago, I do not know if life members get preferential treatment in the field testing program, but I guess it don't hurt.
  17. Had so called "expert" at a gun shop lecture me on the illegality of loading FMJ rounds in a carry gun. Said I was " setting myself up for an unwinnable law suit by using FMJ in a .380" . The funny part is I never mentioned using ball rounds in my carry gun, just wanted to pop off a few rounds at the range. I guess he just wanted to make more $$$ on the JHP stuff. Needless to say I haven't been back to his shop. As mentioned above the world is full of squirelly people with nutty ideas, unfourtunately a lot of them seem to try and pass themselves off as "experts".
  18. The sled scene from " Christmas Vacation" is probably one of the funniest things I have ever watched. Just watched it for the millionth time and laughed as hard as the first time I saw it. It's on AMC right now, and again at 9:15.
  19. I do the same thing in my jeep. All you need is a 1/8" to 1/8" cord that you can find anywhere(look around at home, you may already have one), plug into the headphone jack and let'er rip.
  20. I bought one of the Ruger Chargers for my 2 kids ( son 15 yo and daughter 11), we are lucky enough to have a hundred yard range in our back yard. I have got triple spinners at 25 yds, a single 4" spinner at 50 yds and a 15" plate at 100yds. My son likes to rotate through the targets, near to far- far to near etc., while my daughter can practically play a tune on the 100 yd plate! Anything that moves or makes noise, or both, on impact is the best way to make it fun and keep them shooting. BTW my daughter's only wish for Christmas this past year was HER OWN RIFLE! And yes, there was a 10/22 under the tree Christmas morning. Y'all be safe and have fun!
  21. Just read today of a Pastor in IL that was shot to death this morning DURING THE SERVICE!! Also four or five in the congregation wounded. Appears that the gunman " just walked in and started shooting". His gun then jammed and he stabbed himself. Probably more to this than is first being reported, ( former member, ect.), but it may just be a case of a random crazy walking in. We have discussed this subject at our church and our Pastor encourages the HCP holders in our church to feel free to exercise their rights.
  22. Pachmeyer made an add on devise for a 1911, I believe it was called a "Dominator". The one I fired (ONCE) was chambered in .308 Win. it was worse than awful.
  23. I believe there is an Appleseed shoot in Puryear Sept. 13-14. They just LOVE to see folks with Garands. They usually encourage you to bring 400 rounds of ammo. I think the website is: www.RWVA.org . I've got to be in East Tn or I would be there. I've always wanted to shoot at one.
