  2. i dont do a whole lot of soldering but when i do i use my cheapy ratshack soldering iron and desoldering iron though i plan to invest in something MUCH better in the future, i know about digikey, im getting ready to order a mosfet from there for the tv im fixing,   i am also order 0.5mm 60/40 rosin core solder, i have the thick stuff and after using it a couple of times and watching some youtube videos on soldering i have learned i was doing it wrong the whole time and it makes me feel bad, im hoping i might be able to fix a laptop motherboard i tried to repair a while back with this new solder but time will tell   also imo soldering and electronics repair is starting to become atleast in my eyes a lost art but thats just me
  3. since radio shack does not carry electronic repair stuff any more anyone know of a place in nashville that sells stuff like solder, resistors, transistors, capcictors etc?
  4. only issues are light guns dont work on lcd's and there is noticeable input lag with older consoles
  5. trust me for some people (like myself!) CRTs ar great, they are also very useful if you collect old arcade games
  6.   i went to itt tech and i like to fix things myself helps me learn more about how to take things apart and fix them   nice i love linux, i plan to get the Linux+ cert sometime in the near future
  7. Anyone else here do soldering or fix electronics? I'm doing as more a hobby right now myself and am currently trying to fix the tv in the picture, it's a CRT HDTV goes up to 1080i I think which is fine as I plan to use it with my older video game consoles

  11. i have thought about it and have been pushed to get it but im to i guess proud to get stamps and such, i like working for myself and everything but the work is to few and far between to have a stable income, i still havent payed on my student loans due to having to pay other things aswell and atleast for me minimum wage is not enough to cover my expenses

  13. thats what i have been trying to do but for whatever reason i cannot get hired and im trying my hardest! i also love linux and working with routers and switches
  14. thanks, i have been looking for a job since 2010 when i left kroger, so i still have hope
  15. i mostly work contract work/self employed, but have only had one full time job and that was at kroger for 2 years, i have no certs, i just have what i have learned and taught myself, for instances im planning to buy some cisco routers and switches to learn more about them and maybe get work involving them, but no matter how hard i try i cannot get a full time job in my field, i can not even get a job in basic tech support   i tried applying at geek squad at best buy but was told i was over qualified and had to dumb down my application to get a interview which i could not go to due to not being able to get off work

  22. i went to walmart recently to buy a case for my mosin and noticed that all the cases were gone and was replaced with duck dynasty junk, so i went to a different walmart and samething, looks like that got rid of a bunch of firearm stuff and replaced it with this junk
