So what is your dilemma here, to carry underwater or to just have it with you while your out and about? As you said, if you are submerging the gun you know your in for a load of extra manitence. But if your going to carry it in some sort of waterproof bag you'd better make very sure its well attached as it will want to pop loose and float! If the gun does get wet, I would immeditally soak it down with WD40 ASAP, after you drain it (you might want to think about adding some weep holes in the handle). I would say that after you come out of the water: unload, drain, and use the WD40. I dont think it would be a good idea to wait any more than a few minutes. Metal will begin to corrode as soon as it hits the air. Stainless would help to slow it down but it will still happen. Everyone talks about how a Glock will fire underwater but I believe most any will (but I've never tested that theory). As far as sealing the ammo I would say your on the right track.

Gunshow Fairgrounds Nashville
MarkInNashville replied to Fourtyfive's topic in Events and Gatherings
Hummmm I think I will just have to go! Maybe looking for some reloading items (just tiring to get started doing it). Really ironic thing is that the last time I went to the State Fair Grounds was last year, May 1st... when I left it there was a river running through the parking lot from the creek just south of the grounds. -
Grips do look sharp but I gotta tell you, I'm getting dizzy looking at them!

After I had heard about it I googled it and ran across this: No clue who he is but I think he must live in TN (as he talked about Joelton). All I know is that I am envious as hell of him!

The good news is that here in your new state, the fight is over-with. Welcome, hope to meet you at some IDPA event (if the stars ever align so I can go!).

I know this is a bit late but I got the sights on my S&W M&P changed out on last Thursday by GunTroll (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/member.php?u=4226). I supplied the sights my own Truglo TFOs. He is an actual gunsmith (as opposed to an Armorer) so if difficulties are encountered he is quite able to handle it (he says XD sights are the worst but I'm pretty certain my M&P's front gave the XD a run for its money). He is a good guy and very competent, his prices are very reasonable too. Worst thing is that its a bit of a haul up to Springfield so he handled it for me right then, so I wouldn't have to come back to fetch it. All and all I would happily do it again.

Well, as a matter of a fact I am taking up reloading. I havent crossed the casting off, talked to a couple of older guys about it yesterday, in fact. I figure I will get the reloading going and see how that goes. I needed to add a small bench in my laundery room, ended up replaceing the floor today - to say its not going well would be an understatement! lol

IMHO there is no contest (between with and without the hard sear) it almost feels like shooting a revolver in single-action. I shoot at a TWRA range and one of the RSOs poped it empty and called 2 others over to feel it! And afa the USB, when you take the slack out of the trigger it wasn't bad before (no clue how many rounds were through it, how many times it had been pulled but it was test fired the end of 2008) but now it feels like its on ball bearings!

I bought 5 boxes of (cheap) Federal at the Mount Juliet WalMart and the guy there told me he has never been told about a limit. That happened last everning (Friday the 13th LOL).
-
If your interested my M&P is ready for you to shoot. I was hoping you'd be at SRHEC today - I expended 200 rounds today. The trigger still isn't as sweet as your CZ but 3.5 lbs is about all I feel comfortable with!

I got some about a week ago from 44 MAG.com Looks like they have in .40 but not in 9 now. Hummm, maybe I should have gotten more. Ya can never have to many mags!

A friend gave me a Safariland OWB paddle... although its a leather, not a kydex. Nothing wrong with it at all! Safariland used to be, as far as I know, one of the major suppliers to police departments, no clue any more. The model I have is older but its excellent, never moves, binds or reminds me that its there in any way.

Dunno why you'd want something like that... its not of Italian heritage. I HAVE your back - why dont you just let me help you out and get it so it will A) help your buddy out and remove the temptation for you?
-
I have read over at mp-pistol forum that you can and that you can even buy a little collar to slide down the longer mag to allow you to hold on to it. I only have a full size so I do not have any first hand knowledge. I will add this - I installed an Apex Tactial Hard Sear and USB... shot it for the first time today and it was AWESOME! Feel like shooting a revolver in single-action mode! I HIGHLY recommend them!

Its a beauty!! I'm sure it will give you years of pleasure and good service! And as others have said, I find it very easy to carry and conceal my 4" .45 (mine is a Commander but I dont think that matters). -
Yes sir.... nice!
