  1. I've seen this pic before on another sight. Its supposed to be real. Looks like a high lung shot so there may not be much initial blood.
  2. Cool pic.
  3. I've owned both and I liked the 308 better. They will both kill deer.
  4. Congrats and great shootin gal!
  5. I can't wait to eat me some squirrels.
  6. Yes I do lol. I remember him telling me about that.
  7. Whiskey I think I know what friend your talking about. If so I can see him saying that lol.
  8. 2 years ago during spring Turkey, I took a buddy of mine out. We sat up started to call and immediately had turkeys gobbling. I new it was just jakes but I heard at least one good Tom on the opposite ridge. As I was calling I kept hearing a crinkling sound. For about 5 minutes I couldn't figure out where this sound was coming from. The jakes came in quietly and I turned to my buddy to see if he wanted to shoot one and before I said anything he asked if I wanted a bite of his breakfast sandwich. Well the turkeys scattered and the hunt was over. The whole time I was calling him in his first turkey he was eating a breakfast sandwich which was wrapped in tinfoil. I was so still I didn't even know he was eating the dang thing just heard the wrapper. Got to love friends.
  9. If I can question something than I just dont use it. I try to stay simple with my hunting equipment. That way I know im at least 98% right.
  10. The Warden I talked to seems to say something different and they wonder why people dont understand the reg book. All I can do is shake my head.
  11. Luke your always welcome to come along. I love calling coyotes in for other people.
  12. Allen you know your always welcome to hunt with me.
  13. First make sure you have taken a hunters safety course than get your small game license. Make sure you read the regs than read them 5 more times. Cant hunt coyotes at night. I use both mouth and electronic callers. Ive been hunting predators for a long time and that is by far my passion. I have called in and killed many coyotes and missed just as many. Most people say you should stay only 15 minutes or so on stand. I have learned that eastern coyotes are different from western coyotes. I have called for over an hour before getting one to commit. The reason was I knew they where in there. I treat each and every setup different. I have killed coyotes in the morning, afternoons and evenings. Im on my phone so typing all thus out is hard. I will chime in more when I get home later.
  14. The local warden talked like it was o.k when I talked to him. He said its not considered a deer "locator"
  15. I talked to one of the Game Wardens today. He said that a light capable of locating deer was illegal to use. I asked him what about lasers like a crimson trace grip. He said it wasn't like spotlighting and your using it during the day, so your able to see the deer anyway. I don't maybe he didn't really understand what I was saying.
  16. I'm pretty sure Laser sights are legal as long as they don't project enough light to locate wildlife.   This is what the regs say.   Firearms or archery equipment with any device utilizing an artificial light capable of locating wildlife. Any electronic light amplifying night vision scope or device while in possession of a firearm or archery tackle between sunset and sunrise. Small lasers such as crimson trace grips or the like won't be considered in this group.
  17. Despite the odds, I put in for a tag.
  18. Ive been seeing a lot of deer as well.
  19. I wanna go to Florida and hunt hogs.
  20. I have killed several deer with a 223 rifle. While it can be effective I do like bigger calibers. With the right bullet and shot placement the 223 will kill deer. Its just not my first choice since I have bigger calibers in the safe.
  21. I'm really eyeballing the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25. From the reviews it seems it would hold up to the recoil. Anyone have any luck with the sight? I'm trying not to spend a whole lot of money.
  22. I dropped off the 44 mag and the mount to my friend. Should have it back on Monday. Can't wait to see it.
  23. Got my Weigand base in today. Having my buddy drill and tap the receiver this week. Guess I need to figure out an optic.
  24. Great info Whiskey. Here are some links for you http://www.state.tn.us/twra/huntered.html   Also look into the apprentice hunting license. Here is the link with license info. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the license info at the bottom for the apprentice license. http://www.tn.gov/twra/huntlicense.html
  25. I have looked at several different scopes. I agree 4 power is to much. I'm really thinking hard about using a red dot of some sort. I'm gonna keep the MOA dot to 2 or 1. I'm not going to shoot over 100 yards and most of my shots are 60 to 70 yards anyway. As far as loads go not sure yet what I'm gonna use. I have been eye balling Buffalo bores deer grenade. Thanks for the info everyone.
