  1. Since I use a lot of outdoor range brass, I have to clean mine to get the mud & gravel out.
  2. My guess is not hunting hogs causes even more hogs. As for import, that's a few pinheads, not the hunting population in general.
  3. So, are there excellent trainers in the Knoxville area ?
  4. What logic...... http://www.tennessean.com/article/20111124/NEWS11/311240026/TN-hunting-policy-unexpectedly-spurs-spread-wild-hogs?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
  5. David, You and your staff of mods do a great job. This site is *already* a place where folks want to hang out, without regards to layout. Bert
  6. Nice layout, but the contrast & brighness is a bit harsh for me (harder to focus). (problems with astigmatism, and damages from a detached retina) I look forward to seeing the other options you develop.
  7. If practical, I tumble before deprime to help keep the media out of the flash hole.
  8. I bet your ears were ringing. I had a buddy fire a .22 out a car window and was pretty much deafened all day long.
  9. use pliers with the dry ice.
  10. Be careful with this, but a 1-liter water bottle, several chunks of dry ice (around here at Food City), and a dollop of water makes an *impressive* boom (shotgun loud). Just get it away from you real quick when you tighten down the lid. You will get his attention real quick. pick up the scraps before you depart.
  11. admittedly, I am being a bit cynical, but friend, If I was you, I would make sure you have your resume up to date. You *may* have just placed a big bullseye on your tenure there (even if your immediate HR person is on your side, the owners, mgmt, & their lawyers won't be). HR *always* favors company in the long run. Bank on it. B.
  12. Lines are crossed. People "become" anti-gun , and then some "actionably" anti-gun. No need to tickle the dragon and push them over the line (regardless of whether the business is patronized or not).
  13. "yup, just hanging around when he walked by" great story!
  14. Yuppie Yote Yummies in Mur'v'le... Coyotes Blamed For Pet Deaths: TWRA Says Coyote Population Stable - The Daily Times Judging from the feral cats, squirrels, and bunnies popping up in my yard this year, we got no yote problem in Clinton right now.
  15. Chicken skin, huh ? The bigger ones like the whole bird! B.
  16. hmmm.. sounds like a great oppportunity to start a new interest together, and on the same level with each other. Heck, the kid may even teach you somthing A TWRA Hunter Safety Course would be a great place to start. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Hunter Ed Class Schedule Here is another excellent program, well supported in TN - NWTF JAKES - http://www.nwtf.org/jakes/about.html
  17. Anyone in the Knoxville / Oak Ridge area successfully hunting yotes ? I would love to hook up and figure how to do it right for once. Bert
  18. Encore Pro-Hunter Pistol in .308 Win, or a Super Redhawk in .44 Mag
  19. I would start this year with this - Gander Mountain® > Rossi Triple Play Single-Shot Youth Shotgun - Firearms > Shotguns > Single Shot Action : This can be his "beater" gun to get started. Then next year consider upgrading to a 10/22 or Henry. During his pre-teen years, divise a points system (based on Hunter Safety, NWTF Jakes Program, etc, and then each year, let him "earn" a new/better firearm. If he safely takes big game and participates in field dressing, etc, double his points for the year. Make it fun and self-competitive. Build his confidence. B.
  20. That. In order to find a knowledgable buddy, you might want to check out wildlife groups. I don't know which ones are focused on deer, but many guys in specialty groups are also excellent deer hunters. So, check out the local chapters of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, etc. All of these groups will be doing banquets in a few months, and you can meet lots of knowledgable woodsmen.. Maybe someone can suggest some local chapter Nashville area wildlife organizations. B.
