  1. According to news, Larry took a shotgun blast to the neck. I have heard of his status...............(but not reported in the news yet).
  2. Some friends of mine at SCP found themselves in a shootout this afternoon. It did not go well. Developing: Shooting reported at Clinton pawn shop | wbir.com
  3. I sent in kudos for the driver to corporate. Here is their response...I am not sure they really read what I said, but if they did, good for them (giving benefit of doubt). "Mr. R., (I deleted my last name from this..) Thanks for the great feedback! Your compliments have been forwarded on to the appropriate people for review and I am sure they will enjoy them as much as we did. Thanks again and have a great day! Sincerely, Consumer Services Team"
  4. Knox-based agent fighting ATF's move to fire him » Knoxville News Sentinel
  5. I may take you up on this. I need the food. Bert
  6. Since OP, they have deleted several photos off of their FB page
  7. And, buy your kids/grandkids a Lifetime Sportsman before they turn 3 yrs ($200).
  8. Thompson Encore Katahdin, 300gr Hornady XTP's, 100 gr TripleSeven
  9. I visited the Lexington storefront in July. Didn't buy a thing, told them very quickly "just looking", and still I could not have been treated nicer by the staff. They were very helpful and responsive. I will continue to buy from them (6 so far), but just plan ahead for lead times. B.
  10. Dryer sheets collect lint and other debris, aka "dust" when used. Recycling them as bore cleaning rags would introduce the grit into your barrel.
  11. OK, serious suggestion for non-controversial, but possibly interesting topics- Do a review on a cultural event. A production at the local community playhouse (usually you can watch rehersals for free, and talk to the actors), read the book its based on if possible (example 'Golden Pond'. Or, go to a cultural festival in your area (Beal Street, Presley Mansion, steam train ride, national historical park, etc. Interview actors, portrayers, participants. Remember your W's of communications, and look for the hook.
  12. DO one on the "occupy xxx" movement. That ought to get attention.
  13. Look for the Thanksgiving & Christmas sales on Liberty Safes at Gander Mountain. Last year they had the Fat Boy & Fat Boy Jr at 1/3 off. B.
  14. It is indeed a good read, and well footnoted. Written by an atheist (who was converted as a result of the research, and from observations of his wife in her new found faith). If you ever get the chance to hear him speak, do so, Christian or not. He is a fascinating speaker.
  15. flying ashtray, meet flying coffee table.
  16. We know this - our choosing to have faith requires the basic platform of trusting that God inspired the men to write the word's, and guided their thoughts by His Holy Spirit. To a non-believer, it is difficult to accept, much less apply. But what convinces us followers is more than just reading and blindly accepting. It is a function of our experience. A year or so back, over dinner, out of the blue (and changing topic of the conversation), a visiting friend asked "Do you receive feedback?". My response - "huh?". He said, "do you get response to your prayers from God Himself?" My reply - "Of course I do! Otherwise it would be a waste of time and breath!"
  17. +1. Thanks for reminding me on this as well.
  18. Thank you, for posting that resource. I had not seen Marshall's take on it. It was well written. I added it to my 2A favorites Bert (who unashamedly believes the nonsense cover to cover)
  19. A few years ago, Popcorn showed up at our motorcycle ralley in Maggie Valley and spent the day with the crowd. He was certainly an interesting and entertaining character, and sure looked 30 years older than he really was. As for his product, by the time it gets to 150 proof, taste is all in the imagination anyway.... But, it sure lit the campfire with ease.
  20. Thompson Encore Pro Hunter pistol in 15" bbl (for example .308 Win), Ruger Super Redhawk , or a BFR. Small, but still "reach out and touch", and can mount scope on them. BFR in .30-.30 Win - Magnum Research 5 Round 30-30 Winchester w/10" Barrel/Stainl $823.00 SHIPS FREE
  21. I gladly share my handloads *in*my*gun*(s), when I am present. Give them away, or even worse sell them (without a tax stamp, licenses, insurance, lawyer, etc.....) ?? Not a chance. Buy the equipment, take the time to learn, or Wally World. Don't expect reloaders to invest their risk and liability in your desire to save a few $. If someone actually does, they are stoopid, and their loads should not be trusted to begin with. Bert
  22. Thanks for your help. I did not look at the 50 yard range, but someone yesterday told me it was still bad. Maybe with a few more folks like you, it will be clean too.
  23. I remember it. It was the inspiration for my title.
  24. . It is decent. Pretty much like the Norris Range except there is no porta-potty. Has sheds, benches, 50, 100, 150 yd / skeet ranges. 10'+ Berms on the sides help cut down (but not eliminate) the cross wind. Flatwoods Road going into the WMA is getting a bit rough though. Stll accessible via car, but take your time, and watch out for ATV's.
