I dunno if I would want ot carry at an amusement park. If you go on the rides the seats are tight, especially for me. And a lot of Dollywoods rides involve a real good chance you will get soaking wet.

I know everyone is worried about being caught in a situation and being unarmed but it would not stop me from going there. Situational awareness can do a lot to make up for lack of a firearm.

Anyway Dollywood is a lot of fun. Sometime you gotta roll the dice.

My wife and I just got back from Gatlinburg/pidgeon forge.

There were many places (dixie stampede) that had a sign that said no firearms, but they were NOT in accordance with the state laws.

I didn't go to dollywood but I imagine that they're pretty much the same, since Dolly Parton owns The Dixie Stampede also.

Mike, You roll the dice, go ahead! I'll watch

Did you go to Dixie Stampede? That is someplace I have been meaning to go for years. Gaatlinburg and the SMNP are two of my favorite places. Karin and I are meeting up with my brothers and their wives there in Sept for a long weekend. I can't wait.

Not sure what the carry situation will be as at least one of the sister in laws is a major anti. I am sure I will hear about it if she finds out I will have a handgun with me in the chalet.

I am willing to bet there are a lot of No guns allowed signs in Gatlinburg.

You have to decide for yourself. Personally, when faced with that situation, I tend to carry. Openly. The few anti-gun people I know became either pro-gun, or people I knew.

The line between posted and properly posted is a $500 fine. Even if they do not properly post, TN still supports the Right To Refuse Service. So they can still kick you out regardless, and if you refuse, then its trespassing.

Didn't I see something that declared black powder weapons as non guns - could this be a loophole?

Since they don't offer the flint lock demo and training anymore my guess is that they would frown on those too. I miss SilverDollar City.:D

I am sure i will have a handgun with me, concealed is concealed. As for the

"I knew" part, well she is family and I am not forgetting family.

Just a gun buster sign or a sign that says "No weapons" is not good enough.

Notice of the prohibition shall be posted. Posted notices shall be displayed in prominent locations, including all entrances primarily used by persons entering the building, portion of the building or buildings where weapon possession is prohibited. If the possession of weapons is also prohibited on the premises of the property as well as within the confines of a building located on the property, the notice shall be posted at all entrances to the premises that are primarily used by persons entering the property. The notice shall be in English but a notice may also be posted in any language used by patrons, customers or persons who frequent the place where weapon possession is prohibited. In addition to the sign, notice may also include the international circle and slash symbolizing the prohibition of the item within the circle. Does anybody know if its legal/acceptable to carry in Dollywood? We were thinking of heading up tonight to look at the lights. I noticed that Dixie Stampede is on the prohibited list, but maybe they serve alcohol? I've never been to Dixie Stampede, but I think Dolly and her business own it too...so, does anybody know for sure whether guns are prohibited at DW? Thanks, B

I'm sure you've already gone, but it would be illegal only if it is properly posted per 39-17-1359, however it could be against their rules/policy if so I'm sure you'd be told to leave with no refund if found out.

Yes, just got home. I looked at their web site before going, and in an obscure place on one of the pages I found where it said "no weapons". I assume that means me and my gun so I didn't carry. I didn't see any signs posted at Dollywood so I'm not sure they're meeting the spirit and intent of the Tn code. Oh well...I would say they want it to be "prohibited", but just not doing a proper job of informing folks. Later, B

Don't they sell alcohol there anyway? If they do it would be a moot point on the sign.

The law says you can not carry "within the confines of building" that sells alcohol for onsite consumption. I've never been there, but I figure all of Dollywood is not in one building.

But you are right that you could not legally carry inside of any structure where alcohol was being sold and consumed.
